What might this be?
I was running around Cap Au on a lower pop server when I came across this:
![]() Sorry for the image quality - I was on my laptop with graphic settings on performance. I caught it out of the corner of my eye and turned back. It looked like a character on its knees, with a fox outfit over him, and he was pawing at the ground. Is this a temp power or emote or some such? I've never seen it before. And the person was logging out before I could ask. |

Could be the 'Growl' emote that came with the Mutant Pack. I think that's the one but it puts the character on all fours.
Still, that's a neat costume.

I didn't make it in time.
But in the wiki you get to see hilarious "moving" hair.
Interesting. Where does the fox "outfit" come from? And thanks for the responses.
Am I the only one who thought for a moment that that wasn't a CoH avatar because the costume was so well done to make it look like an animal?

City of Heroes comics and artwork
When I first saw it I thought maybe it was a vet pet or some such. But then I noticed an actual character under there. It's late at night and I'm a bit tired so it was quite surprising to see.

GENERAL
- pitch-black skin
HEAD
- Face: [any], Viper (orange)
- Hair: [any] (orange, orange)
- Ears: Wild Cat (orange, white)
- Detail 2: Breather 2 (white, white)
TORSO (tights)
- Chest: tights (orange), no pattern
- Shoulderpad: spiked collar (white, black)
- Gloves: monstrous, full, dagger (orange, black)
LEGS (monstrous)
- Pants: monstrous large, tights, blend (black, orange)
- Feet: large claws, bare
- Tail: animated - wolf tail (orange w/ white tip)
My guess at some of the pieces used:
GENERAL - pitch-black skin HEAD - Face: [any], Viper (orange) - Hair: [any] (orange, orange) - Ears: Wild Cat (orange, white) - Detail 2: Breather 2 (white, white) TORSO (tights) - Chest: tights (orange), no pattern - Shoulderpad: spiked collar (white, black) - Gloves: monstrous, full, dagger (orange, black) LEGS (monstrous) - Pants: monstrous large, tights, blend (black, orange) - Feet: large claws, bare - Tail: animated - wolf tail (orange w/ white tip) |
And, yeah, I too was taken aback by the costume. At first glance, I thought it was a hoax of some sort, posting a screenshot that's not even from City of Heroes. But I recognised the tail, then the ears, then the legs, then finally the Dagger pattern on the gloves.
It's a very well-made design, definitely, but I don't think it's something I'd want to copy. It involves using a breather as a snout, which a breather is not. The shot doesn't really highlight how out of place it looks from that angle, but nah. I might consider it if and when we get proper animal snouts.
In the meantime, I'm too busy making a quite literal cow girl.
Samuel_Tow is the only poster that makes me want to punch him in the head more often when I'm agreeing with him than when I'm disagreeing with him.

Ooooh this is so neat! Its like an in-game bigfoot sighting! Or the Jersey devil! Whatever it is, it's exciting!
I saw player = Vulpine (I think that was the name) during the PERC Costume Contest in Pocket D on Triumph over the weekend. She passed the first screening. Unfortunately, I didn't make the cut, so I didn't hang around to see how she did.
Teams are the number one killer of soloists.
