Quote:I have definitely played characters specifically because of their bios and/or costumes. Even when that causes me to repeat powersets and such. Sooo, I don't think that is at all weird.I don't know how many of you have done this before, but I came up with a costume I really like and decided I wanted to play yet another scrapper just for that reason alone. I've already taken /shield to 50 twice, though I've never played BS before. Anyway, I just wanted to share my altitis with the world.

I am so on-board for anything that gives more variety to PPPs or APPs. -

Quote:ALL of this stuff is awesome!Hey Tunnel Rat!
I absolutely enjoyed your part in the live chat UStream.
I love VFX.
I have a couple of suggestions.
Speed power pool
Would love to have new upgraded and if possible not very noticeable FX for the speed power pool. Hasten is too fiery now... I think it doesnt looks like you have a recharge buff on your powers, just looks like white fire.
Same for superspeed. I would love to have a minimun FX option, or an new updated less noticeable FX.
For superspeed maybe a shadow (colour tintable) of the character, like the bullet rain dual pistols FX, when the character run with superspeed on.
For hasten something similar to the FX for leadership pool, just a little effect around the character.
APP & PPP Power customization
Another thing would be cool is to have power customization for Ancillary power pools and Epic power pools. Our concepts and characters will thank you till the world ends.
Ancillary would be easier because those powers already exists and are tintable on their archetype versions. Epics, I know, hard work.
Upgrade old powers FX to current awesome new powers FX
Fire, Im looking at you. Blazing aura have an awful effect, I dont know a single player that actually like it. Fire armor in general could use a revamp.
For example, old fire blast... Not bad FX, but compared with the fire of Pyronic judgement, theres a difference. I would like if all the fire FX had the same FX, theres a huge difference between the old fire FX and the new one, and I think all the fire should look the same for all fire powers.
Elemental auras, toogles, etc... Make them less noticeable
Add a slide to customize the FX, I dont know... Sometimes we cant see our character costume because is hiding under tons of layers of our own toogle powers (electric, dark, fire armor...), teammates buffs (thermal radiation, bubbles, kinetics). I think sometimes is just too much power FX on the screen... I wish I could turn off some of those FX, or at least, have a minimun FX or less noticeable FX options.
Maybe to implement the last one we could have some sort of Opacity of FXs slider on the powers window that we could customize for our own powers (individually) and then a GLOBAL one to impact powers from sources outside of ourselves. Obviously this would hit the coding folks at the very least... but would be a nifty option. -

Quote:Some sort of observation bias? You are LOOKING for a correlation, so any semblance of one makes it seem as though there is.I still dont believe it. While the drops have gotten better, i still see a noticable drop rate difference when i try harder.
Once you qualify NOT to get the 10 Thread 'reward,' everything else is equal(ly random).
Not to pick on you specifically... but it's TRIALS! Even the Devs messed it up on badge descriptions. Sheesh. -

Hmmm... is it possible that the system gave you the global based on the last character CREATED instead of the last character you logged out as? It looks that way based on a bunch of people reporting their lowbie being used as their new global. That would seem like a simple transposition of variable in the script that got run.

If it's any consolation, Torsion is a GREAT name... I'da kept that, were I you.

Quote:I never had a single issue prior to i20's launch with the level of frequent disconnects I am having. Also, they are not exclusive to the Trials, so I can't blame that.I am assuming you need a better connection or PC Mr 37...maybe then you will get to see these mysterious bits in the trials.
First, I never said *I* didn't know what they are, it was merely an example. And, no, it is not a common term in my play group... I never actually used it before the Trials, but from context it was fairly obvious. However, what was a bit odd, is the penchant for capitalizing the letters (i.e. ADDS), which I thought was some sort of acronym that I hadn't heard before a la BAF. But again, I figured it out without being told... it was, as I said, merely an example.Quote:Gee, what ARE adds? Never heard the term during all the other pve content? Come on. Or do you dc in that too?
That wasn't my statement.Quote:Also, how does giving instructions AFTER the trail has begun, constitute a bad raid team? Thats just stupid. You are saying a leader should form the team of 16/24 people, then when everyone is ready to go...say 'Hang on guys, gimme 5-10 mins while I lay out exactly what we do in each bit of the trail!' If I joined a league like that, Id quit and join the other team in broadcast forming, thats lf1 more and ready to kick off.
What's with the ridiculously defensive attitude? It's as if I called you out personally or something.Quote:When I lead, I assume that most people know what is going on. And that if they dont, they will ask. Crazy notion right? If they ask..I will gladly tell them. Ever if they dont, I always give a lil briefing for whatever it is. Like..'clear streets, courtyards, turrets etc,' 'team 1 to warehouse, 2 to lab,' 'use acids on glowing doors, wait by teh container spawn, dont aggro.'
Granted, not the most detailed instructions, but nothing in these is really that tricky. Oh, temp powers on the HUGE glowing doors? Wow thats crazy! Nothing like that in the game before...! Oh wait..maybe I dc'd during that part of mission X..
And no, there really isn't much of a precedent for using Temp. Powers granted during a mission on a particular area within that same mission. But that is beside the point, as you seem to be hell-bent on making me sound like an idiot... especially with regard to the things that I didn't have an issue with. -
That's actually a decent point, I should think.

You're talking about the home perming kit, right?

Perhaps, but I guess that goes to my point just the same. If few instructions are given at any point, doesn't that go to the idea that leaders are just assuming everyone knows what's up? (Of course, my implication in the first place was to place some onus on bad leadership as opposed to the rest of the thread which seems to imply stupid members.)
Admittedly, I have not been on too many Trials, but I haven't seen very many (one maybe) in which the leader actively said much of anything... unless all instructions were being given in a Global Channel that I was not aware of... but I don't consider that likely. -
That totally makes sense. However, I am still distracted by the context from which I know the term... not that that's your fault.

While I am sure all of these cute little comments are accurate, I think it also bears discussing the obscene amount of assumption that goes on during your average trial run. I have run the trials maybe a dozen times so far... about 9 of those have been BAFs and I have DCed out of a decent amount of that total as well. That means there are parts of Lambda I have never seen occur... it means that I wasn't around for the "instruction phase" on a vast majority of the first BAFs I was on because I DCed after the cutscene.
Asking for assistance and guidance was usually met with little to none of either. It seems to me, that because a lot of league leaders have run each trial 835,109 times each that they think everyone knows where the adds come from (and what that means) and that of course you know where the door to the Acids is... despite the fact that that area isn't called anything like that, nor are the containers that house them.
And despite all the research I have done on the trials, doing what needs to be done in them is a different ballgame than merely perusing some text... especially considering the vast amount of variablity that can occur between one trial and the next (team size, number of badges aimed at, etc.). -
Quote:Perhaps just a bit over-stated? LOLMy limited customer service employment leads me to believe at least 75% of those who don't read the forums couldn't find the forums if it was set as their homepage, and the rest are illiterate.

But yes, I get yer point, and agree with it in large part. Most customers I have dealt with are utter bufoons. I had to explain to someone that Hardee's and Dairy Queen are NOT in fact the same restaurant. I have repeatedly taught basic math to customers so that they could understand that, yes, their coupon was applied... that the sale really does make something cheaper, etc. People are idiots. I think it is clear that NO amount of advertising would catch everyone... which means some joker would be here whining that they missed it. -
Quote:Considering there is canon precedent for this idea... I almost think it's more likely than a Staff set.... but I would personally prefer the Staff set... OR the "Ball and Chain" Set that was a part of that long ago poll.Bo Staff is one of my favourites weapons of all time, so Im dying to see it in CoH. But I dont think we ever see the day.
Same as one melee/mid range set with one katana and one pistol, like Spark Blade. There is nothing more badass than a guy with one katana and one long pistol in the other hand.
A set mixing combos with pistol to hit in the mobs face, katana cutting the mobs and then shooting them like the executioner shot animation, while holding the katana with the other hand...
Me like it! -
Based on above comments, does that mean that Infinity Badges has been replaced by Infinity Badges 2?
Ewwww, who would wanna play on Virchoo or Freedumb? Infinity is my home server for heroes... but I have recently been focusing on Justice since I have been villaining a lot recently. -
I could see adding a selection of smaller axe/hatchet-type weapons for use with Dual Blades... but I don't think that the current visual aesthetic in DB would mesh well with current Battle Axe models.

I have to agree with this.
Very simple plot, though... but I am unfamiliar with his sorce material, so I dunno what got involved in different comic storylines.
Also, HOW does it make any sense that the chick's last boyfriend happened to be HUGE and just as ripped as Thor so that he could conveniently and perfectly, fit into his clothes? Man her last dude musta been hot too! -
I have to disagree. If a character in the game was able to achieve those badges... why should they be removed? TOTALLY different story if they were awarded from doing nothing and it is totally random. But if the player actually EARNED a badge (Avid Reader, for instance) than I don't see why they should be stripped... regardless of how they got the opportunity to earn it.
Earning, though, is the key word.
