Quote:That's not actually the problem, the problem is that Mids' is written in .NET which is Windows only (and no, Mono doesn't really count) and so even if you could somehow compile it to run on OSX it still wouldn't work because the .NET frameworks aren't present.MIDS download is an exe file and won't work for apple systems. I tried it
Cue standard rant: .NET is great if you know that your application is only ever going to be used on Windows systems and it provides a great base on which Powershell can operate, however, if you even think you might want your application to work on non-windows platforms than it's a terrible choice of language - this applies equally to any other platform specific languages.
Given the difficulty of finding something compilable that you can run on iOS, Android, Windows, OSX, Linux and anything else you feel like (Window Phone 7? Symbian? BeOS? HP-UX?) that also does what you want, HTML5 is often the best solution these days. -
It doesn't help that the map is bugged to hell and half the time disables all of the useful markers including the zone exits...
...of course I would be very interested to see stats on the % of free accounts that have left Atlas park. I'm betting it's not that high. -
Are you using the City of Heroes installer or just the NCSoft Launcher to kick off the install? (Either should work, but it just helps troubleshoot it).
If you are able, it may be easier to copy your install directly across onto her PC to the same folder, install the NCSoft Launcher and tell it to install CoH. It should find the copied install, update if required and then run an integrity check on launch. -

Well that's because only complete idiots tell the Captain how long it's *really* going to take to fix it. Smart people (like Scotty, incidentally) overestimate by a substantial margin so that when they're told they only have half the time to do it, it's still easy to achieve.

Quote:The difference between technically possible and practically possible is frequently quite substantial, howeverThere is actually no fundamental software reason why the current 2 billion INF limit couldn't be raised. Don't let those code geeks* fool you with their fancy technobabble excuses.
-
There are various ways to have more than 2 billion inf available to a character (mostly involving the auction house) but you can never have more than 2 billion in hand at any given time.

Quote:NCSoft's payment system has always been ******* awful; pre-Freedom you couldn't buy more than 3 things in one go from their store because when trying to buy the 4th thing it would automatically flag you as "possibly fraudulent activity" and block you from making any more purchases for 24 hours. This is ignoring the fact that there wasn't a "cart" so it was impossible to buy more than one thing at a time. Thanks for the info. The weird thing is that I used the same exact payment systems last week to get the VIP status. Hopefully it is just a temporary glitch.
Equally, if your card provider has a temporary authorisation issue or you make a typo somewhere in the payment info; Bam! Possible fraudulent activity. I'm all for anti-fraud measures, but when they're implemented as ineptly as NCSoft have managed, they're a menace. -
Quote:You know what would have been a clever way to do it? To have had Tyrant actually *do* the retcon by traveling back in time and striking his deal with the well so that the "new" Praetoria storyline comes into existence. It would also give further justification for Ouroboros to be involved and hosting the seemingly random assortment of Incarnate NPCs who keep turning up there.Nope. You've gone from "I've singlehandedly torn through all the big-bad Praetorians" in the old mission to "I've been told to sit back and watch like a good third-stringer as Statesman/Positron/Whoever else they've thrown in the mission to aggro on things a mile away and one shot them finishes the mission for me, and defeat not Tyrant but a guard who's been raiding his dress rack."
Yeah. The new version sucks. -
Ah, but remember, that was pre-retcon Tyrant from back when Praetoria was still the throwaway evil goatee-wearing mirror universe rather than the increasingly complex mess that is has become today.
-
Because there was (still is?) a bug whereby triggering the cutscene before everyone had loaded into the trial would cause some or all of the loads in progress to fail and boot those players out of the trial without the ability to rejoin.

So, is there any significance to the woman queuing inside the house that you can have a conversation with?
And what's with the wolf at the back of the house who walks off through the back of the map about 30 seconds after you zone in and says "Nice day isn't it" when you click on him? -
Have you bought anything recently from NCSoft?
Which country are you trying to purchase from? Is it the same country in which your card/bank reside?
support.ncsoft.com is the support website; you should be able to file a support ticket there, but good luck getting any useful help as nobody at NCSoft support seems to be even vaguely aware of the existence of the Paragon Market and will be convinced that you're trying to buy game time. -
Essentially it's WAI.
As a VIP you have, say, 23 characters and go premium. When you go back to VIP it doesn't unlock all the characters, but gives you 23 unlock tokens instead (I'm assuming there's a technical reason for this, but there might not be). As far as I'm aware it's entirely up to you how to spend those unlock tokens, you're not ending up with any more slots than you had the first time you were VIP, after all; I guess in principle you could use all of them to unlock new slots rather than making old characters available again. -
I would suggest running a "chkdsk /r" on the drive where the game is installed and/or checking said drive with a diagnostic tool such as Crystal Disk Info; it could well be that you've got dodgy sectors on the drive that are resulting in file corruption.

Quote:The latest WHQL driver for XP is still 280.26. Looks like they're starting to move it towards legacy OS status where it belongs.Hmmm...I compared Hyperstrike's site-suggested driver against what the official Nvidia site recomended (for MY card only) and they were different. The GeForce site said the driver was for WinXP...but Nvidia site said it was for Win7, and WinVista. (I have WinXP, 32-bit.) I usually rely on File Hippo for new drivers, then go right to the Nvidia site to d/l. I wonder why they can be so different?

Quote:Ah, didn't realise that about Earthquake. Mental Scramble makes sense now, especially considering I couldn't find any record of it in my combat logs, which matches the observations in that thread.According to City of Data, Earthquake is unresistible for players, too. Whether that's by design or not, who knows? But, as with Mental Scramble we have no reason to assume it isn't.
-
Quote:It's not a bug and it's not unresistable per se, it's just auto hit.Hence my use of the term "many" defense sets. Anything with about 50% or better DDR can be built with some cushion and do pretty well against debuffs.
And although you're right about earthquake, I think earthquake being unresistable is a bug (or it should be!)
Though I do think Mental Scramble might be bugged, it's supposed to be psi, ranged according to the attack info, but despite being softcapped on ranged Def I get hit with it every single time I come across a Tarantula Mistress. -
Quote:This. It only takes one of the many stupidly overpowered defence debuffs in this game to hit my soft-capped Widow (such as Mental Scramble which does -27% Defence) and the lack of any substantial resistances mean I go down pretty fast unless I'm quick enough off the mark to stack purples to keep me alive. Not all defense sets have 95% debuff resistance like SR, added that there are also non-resistable debuffs like earthquake. Against CoT, its not uncommon to face heavy stone/-def based powers against you.
Don't forget that even softcapped there's at least a 1 in 20 chance of any given attack hitting you. -
-
I don't agree with the OP, but I wouldn't say no to some kind of large flashing indicator that said "This dickhead still has 3 acids/pac temps that he hasn't used" during Lambdas.
-
To summarize; RES or Regen-Based sets are always going to be better than DEF-based sets if you have a decent budget because Defence is so easy to come by in this game via pool powers and IO sets.
