((Why is it that so many RPers are serious and as dry as a plank?
Every RPer i hang out with acts like they had there sence of humor part of the brain destroyed. And everytime I become humourous they call me immature.. I ralize almost every RPers bio includes hardship. Why? Why cant you just be hit by a radioactive beam and be excited everyday you get up and melt the alarm clock. But they always are sad about it.
Im not telling you too be humourous just asking why you feel the need to be so serious?))
[/ QUOTE ]
There is, of course, the possibility that you are immature.
In my experience, most RPers are totally open to humour, but, as in real life, there's a time and place for it. Waltzing in and spraying seltzer in everyone's face while they're trying to figure out what happened to Johnny Cosmic, because they've just found his seared and torn costume and left foot is going to cause some ruffling of feathers.
You don't provide much detail of your experiences though, so I'll assume that you've just been a victim of the DRAHMA SQUAD.
These people are RPers, but the only thing they seem to want to RP is bad soap opera plots and grand tragedy. You'll know them by the way their bios walk; gimped and twisted.
"My parents were killed by Hellions when I was twelve. Then I became a streetkid 'cos my foster parents abused me by using my energy-generation powers to supply their sweatshop with electricity. After that, I was addicted to Superdyne, and my pimp beat me. Then I met a puppy. Then the puppy got squished by Babbage.
Now I fight for justice and puppies against all evils.
I am the the Puppybulb."
Walk away from these people; you're better off! -

PLEASE oh PLEASE, Statesman, please tell us that giant Bunniculas will roam the zones for Easter!

They got them hoppy legs and twitchy little noses

What do they need such good eyesight for anyway

It must be bunnies "

Yup. And the Polar Interweb, too.

I'm the guy that uses the Ctrl+# to switch trays.
Go ahead and rebind them; I'll adapt.

Oh, and get Pohsyb, Positron, War Witch and co. back onto the boards! And give Weirdbeard a raise.

Statesman,
I've been pretty hard on the Devs lately (which is fair, since a lot of these changes were pretty hard on me), but I'm encouraged to see this kind of post happening again.
It had seemed that the Devs were becoming less and less community-involved than they used to be (especially when compared to Beta), and more and more ivory towered, as you put it. This is a welcome return to form.
I hope this is a lasting homecoming. -

I didn't build Kript for Nova. I found out how uber Nova is at about lvl 28, when I first saw it in a team.
[/ QUOTE ]
So you were ignorant of the power and were lucky to get a good one?
I had no idea Unstoppable could be run perma, nor did I even want to take the power when I first started my Tank.
Then I saw how effective it was.
Show me how you and I differ, and what justifies Unstoppable taking a massive hit while you can still blow things up willy-nilly every few minutes.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nova does not allow me to take on a mob of +5s, stand there for 10 minutes, while chatting amiably with SG mates, as I have seen invuln Scrappers and Tankers do in my very own SG.
THAT is the difference.
[/ QUOTE ]
THAT is a lie.
The power crashed every 2 minutes. That means you had to dance around and re-initiate any toggles, as well as taking some healing and endurance inspirations. That is not "standing around, chatting".
As well, since we're throwing around overblown stories, I've seen Nova used to completely destroy an entire group of +3 enemies in only a few seconds.
So let's say that your story is true. I get to stand around and let things +5 beat on me while gaining no XP, while, if my story is true, you get to run into a group (while a Tank holds the aggro off of you) and totally nuke them for massive XP gain.
I'm not saying Nova needs to be changed. This isn't a "nerf call". I will, however, bet that a well-designed Blaster levels far more quickly than a PermaUnstoppable Tank. -

I still don't know why they asked for testing. If it was going to happen as is. The only thing I think they fixed was the -50% D on test. I am just pissed they talked me into doing testing.

Here you go:

Statesman:
From memory...
We changed Regen, saw that it wasn't working, changed it again to its current state.
We rolled back minion, lt. hit point increases.
We rolled back a change in Tanker burn.
We made numerous tweaks to the Ancillary power sets.
That's just from memory.
[/ QUOTE ]
[/ QUOTE ]
These changes were all from the first set of Issue 3 changes, not the second portion which radically affected Invulnerability for Tanks and Scrappers.
There was no give, no slight adjustment, no anything for the Inv. changes, save a fix to the drastic bug of having Unyielding give a 50% debuff rather than the intended 5%. -

Dang straight. Post your ideas/thought/opinions. I read 'em - and so does the design team. And I'm not such a prima donna that I can't go back on a past decision and eat some crow.
The most important thing is the quality of the game. That's it. Everything else is secondary (including ego's).

Then I feel it's only proper I point out that you used the possesive rather than plural of ego.
I hope you maintain your lack of pretention, and we see some changes coming! -

I suspect some of the GM ability to help is due to a good toolset created for them. I'd love to see a feature on that someday.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll second this. If we had a feature that explained some of the things they can do, but especially the limitations, it would be nice. Maybe fewer people would complain about the GMs not being able to fix things that they can't. ("My blaster keeps dying, fix the bug!" "That's working as intended." "You suxxors!")
Make it so! -
[ QUOTE ]
I suspect it'll probably be to the same range as Impale or Focus; long enough to not be melee, but nowhere near the range of blasting. I can see some PBAoE's in a set like that too, among other things. Main trick is the impressive I've gotten is that it's not just firearm useage (that's assault rifle), but more cinematic gunkata.
Of course, we'll see how it is when it comes out.
[/ QUOTE ]
You mean we'd have to stand in the reliable range for small-arms? Well that's just crazy talk!
Pistols are very scrapper. Short-range, probably a few melee attacks, and a little bit of John Woo finesse, I'll bet. Sounds like a plan to me! -
[ QUOTE ]
You should change the wording on it, then. While it certainly can be read as not conferring anything, when I first read it my assumption was that it would unlock something at some point. Since some badges do convey increases in abilities, this might be considered misleading.
Here's a screenshot, to let others decide how they'd interpret the phrasing: VIP Badge
I would suggest something along these lines: "V.I.P. -- You are regarded with great esteem in Paragon City."
[/ QUOTE ]
The VIP badge lets you get into the Paragon Dance Party without waiting in line. THAT's VIP, baby! -

Issue 3 is in internal test already. QA reports suggest that it is already better than sucktastic. Your mileage may vary.

A few things (directed at no one poster specifically):
1. Holy ressurrection posts, Batman!
2. Provoke is a ranged AoE
3. They are adding AoE taunts on all tanker secondaries. This will, in effect, be a mini-provoke on all (melee, I believe) attacks. No need to touch provoke.
4. The "more damage the longer the battle goes" change has been scrapped, as it made tankers more effective at dealing damage than scrappers. They're working on something else now.
Most of these posts have been answered in other posts throughout this board. This thread is basically dead until we get another update from the Dev team. -

In fairness, he wants the Devs to read the whole thing; he never promised to do the same himself (even at the cost of looking like an absolute dumbkopf).

I would find this whole discussion funny if it wasn't so maddeningly stupid. You people are actually arguing that 2 fives and 1 ten aren't worth as much as 1 twenty dollar bill.
I mean, REALLY. 6 of one, half a dozen of the other; it's the same freakin' thing. Your dellusions of grandeur aside, there's no difference here.
Assume, for a second, that there are no "minion", "lt." or "boss" tags anymore, but only combat level to gauge things by. What have you got? Varying villains of different levels. Would anyone be complaining then?
Tell you what, I'll trade any of you 10 fives for 3 twenties. Look how many more bills you'll have! WOW!
(Yes, I'm being acerbic. I'm amazed by this whole situation.) -
HOLY CRAP.
I leave you kids alone for a few hours and I when I get back you've had a huge fight in front of the Greatest Hero on Earth, Statesman.
This is why your mother and I can't go out!
Okay:
So the Kingpin hires three thugs to harrass ol' Daredevil. These three street punks get trounced by DD in mere seconds. We call these punks "Hellions" or "Skulls". Kingpin then hires another three goons, except these goons are highly-trained and have cool high-tech equipment purloined from the government. These guys are a bit of a challenge, but DD sends them packing, too. We call these goons "Sky Raiders" or even "Fifth Column". Kingpin is the archvillain.
Okay, so what's the difference between these two fights? COMBAT LEVEL.
The Hellions are grey-con to Daredevil, being a level 30 scrapper. The Sky Raiders are blue or white to him, as they are as highly-trained as he.
Minion =/= pushover
Minion, Lt., Boss, Archvillain simply refer to their place in the power structure of crime.
