    And therin lies the rub, generally speaking in our society we choose to go with the consent of the majority, that we should take actions based on what's best for the greatest number of people.

    In this case I see it means not resetting the zone just for the hell of it when people are AV hunting.

    Of course, I said nothing about jumping up and down on them a few times, it is a PvP zone and it's definately a step too far to say "pls dont attack me, I'm badge [censored]"

  5. AFAIK if there is NO ONE at the highest rank then the next person who logs in gets auto-promoted. However, this rarely happens because it seems the auto-demotion doesn't always work when you get down to the SG founder.

    Well, from my personal experience a kin/sonic does deal a fair chunk of damage when soloing though it's not a massive amount compared to say a blaster or scrapper.

    As a rough benchmark I can take down a halloween mob in about 45-60 seconds and finish up with a full end and health bar thanks to Transfusion and Transference.

    According to me bouncing around in-game with various characters, it definately boosts standing jumping height. Before I had it, I couldn't jump onto a 2nd floor balcony in the office buildings, now I can.

    Planner must be wrong.

    To be honest, I do that to compensate for the fact I have TP, Swift is useful (and as far as I can tell boosts Hover) and at least 2 are needed in Hurdle to be able to jump a floor level in one go.

    That said, I was looking at SJ but it just seems so...wrong for a villain who'se clearly mucking around with quantum energy not to teleport.

    That said, if the worst that can be said about the build is "you're slotting hover and swift too much" then it can't be THAT bad
  10. Tweaked the build a little bit based on some of the advice here and a couple of forum guides. the biggest change is the slotting's now focussed around damage, though if endurance continues to be a problem, some EndRedux's will go in there.

    Kept Propel because 1) I've already taken it, 2) the damage is pretty good and certainly seems on par with Bonesmasher.

    Sniper blast is debateable, but as I'm only left with Power Push, Power Blast or Whirling hands to replace it, I think I'd get more use out of it than I would any of the others.

  12. I do wonder though, would Dominator's feel better if they had a Brute-style AT bonus? So as your durations of your holds increased along with some damage buffing as you used more holds?

    Build 2 is setup to be closer to that, but the question is what can I afford to loose to fit a travel power in, and get my attacks sooner?

    From what I can see the build is pretty tight on power slots (though the slotting was a bit slapdash due to rushing before work)

  15. I'm busy leveling up a kinetic/sonic defender (reached 27 so far) and it is indeed good fun. One thing I've noticed is that without a travel power (until I got Interial Reduction at 26), you get killed more frequently crossing zones. I figure if I'd picked up Stealth it might have helped a little with that but now I have IR so I'm not too fussed.

    Anyhow, the combination is pretty sound and whilst you don't score massive damage on your own, you definately enhance the team's damage output. To help with this I'd advise getting Assault and Tactics when you can, you notice the end drain a little pre-Stamina but often Vigilance takes care of that. Post Stamina my bar hardly ever drops, except when Siphon Speed misses.
  16. Any paticular reason you're not taking a Patron Power Pool??

    Other than that, I'd take Dark Consumption first, it does more damage than Consume and with a high Fury bar you can do some respectable damage to several enemies.

    Acrobatics is best taken ASAP, knockback is a REAL pain in CoV, also Firey Embrace is a bit of a waste on this build, you have 3 firey attacks and whilst double blazing aura is a nice idea, you could free up the power to pick up something more useful.
  17. Well I didn't really want to post the sets and powers used to acheive them because I wanted feedback based on whether or not the different figures would make a huge difference (i.e. was one set clearly better than the other?)

    Anyhow Set 1 is EA and Set 2 is ELA, both with the powers of Tough, Weave and Combat Jumping running

    Still, so far I still haven't figured out which one works better and I really don't wanna run around with a substandard toon for 20 levels finding out (already have a couple of non-starters for my CoV toons)

    Yup that works pretty well, but you still need Stamina to keep running constantly through an entire level So far reached 27 with it and my g.f to 36 and it's fine.

    DM/FA Gimped???

    I like my dark/fire brute, a lot, because it's often the only team member standing when the enemies swarm all over your team thanks to some numbnuts not knowing their left from their right

    Mostly I like the combination because it features two strong heals, the end recovery powers have *just* enough recharge on them without Hasten to keep you going from mob to mob and when I'm having a good day, I've rampaged through an entire mission on Vicious without needing to stop and rest.

    On a bad day though, or if you're with a team that has End problems, the set starts to show it's weaknesses, you *need* that Fury bar high most of the time to maintain a Brute-level damage output, unlike the other sets that seem to suffice well on half a Fury bar.

    All in all, dark/fire = energizer bunny Brute.
  21. Basic rule I've noticed is that the last effect applied is the one that shows the animation.

    However, in your particular test case the sleep is totally ignored because Dominate causes damage and damage breaks Sleeping.

    Mass Confusion

    I always valued my Mass Confusion on my mind/empath controller. It made for a great opening power as it didn't cause aggro, and it really helps with Mind's primary effect, damage mitigation. You see, the main point of a controller is to reduce the incoming damage and since Mind is all about hard controls that virtually eliminate damage from those affected, it's just the icing on the cake to have that damage applied to other enemies.

    So yes, Mass Confusion *IS* worth it as a power, because it stops you and your team dying.

    Vigilance is fab

    I'm personally quite happy with Vigilance and definately notice it's effects. If I solo with my dark/rad defender I often run out of endurance after two or three mobs and on a team with only 2 or 3 other people I get the same thing.

    However if I run with a team of 8 (e.g. taking on Frostfire) I don't think I noticed my end bar dropping at all during the mission and that was with most people on green but near on zero end.
