  1. Thanks Mr. Grumpums. Could you post the data chunk for your build? I'd like to look at it in mids but the DataLink isn't working for me.
  2. Fair warning, this has a high probability of being pretty bad. I've never put a build together that wasn't a scrapper, tanker, or brute, so I really don't know the conventional route to go with Corrupter slotting.

    Some notes about the build:

    Capped Range Defense.
Melee Defense is a small purple from the cap.

I prefer going for positional defenses rather than typed since it just 'feels' sturdier to me.

Hasten and Chrono Shift (the recharge portion) are perma due to spiritual alpha...They'd be a bit shy of perma without it, but I could go cardiac or something if endurance is going to be an issue (really have no idea how that will play out yet).

Any glaring problems? I wouldn't be surprised if there are since, as I said, I really haven't got a clue when it comes to Corrupters.

EDIT - I need a KB protection slotted yet. Can probably move a slot from Rain of Fire for that (which is going to be 5x positron's blast until I can get the purples).

This happens to me with Longbow...maybe they've always been that way and I just never noticed it until now, I dunno. Very annoying.

I also have the UI problems that the OP has. Window size/position resets when I zone (not every time, but a couple of times a day).

Wow, I didn't even notice that Combat Jumping wasn't turned on. The entire reason I put slots into Static Shield was because I was coming up short on defense, so I can move those around now. Good note on the Force Feedback proc...not sure how I overlooked that.

Gloom will do more for your dps than any amount of inf you throw at the toon, its that good (though if you slot it with 5 apocs then thats even better, but 5 decimations also works).
I am thinking that I might have to make the journey to Redside at some point for either Soul or Mu. The only reason I went Arctic was because I really dislike Pyre for some reason. I should be able to breeze through Tip missions once I get him slotted up a bit so I can force myself to make the journey to the other side and back.

KoB is fine with just 4 slots.
Change power sinks slotting to 6 taunt Ios, or 6 effecicay adaptor or drop it down to just 2-3 slots.
Use some common IOs in Hasten instead of Sos.

If you have the resources, 5 hecatombs in Haymaker helps alot, if you don't changing the slotting to 4 kin combats+1hecatomb proc would also work. (suggesting this as you had some hecatombs in your above posted build)
Noted. I will work some of these suggestions into my build when I get some time (the SOs in Hasten was just a misclick).

If you really want to keep it, potentially consider taking burnout (i know, i know), since it effectively increases the duration of PS to 6 minutes and elec has the tools to work with burnout's end debuff.

Could also get by with just 2 slots in stamina due to the nature of elec, and with that note on endurance, Cardiac isnt necessary for an elec brute, go spiritual.
Good suggestion...I will drop Power Surge and see if there is something else I really want to pick up. This might end up going to Super Jump or something. Ninja Run/Jet Pack is workable, but I'd much rather have a real travel power.

As for Cardiac vs. Spiritual, I had totally forgotten about Elec's end management capability (Power Sink! ). Spiritual should be a viable option after all.

@slaad - Thanks! I actually based some of the framework of this build on your Elec/SS Tanker build posted in a thread on the tanker forum. That gave me a great starting point to go off of.
  5. Probably expensive (expected that anyway), but it's something for me to shoot for. I'm seeing 44.9% S/L defense in mids. Recharge isn't great, but Rage is down to the point where I can at least avoid the -Def from the crash. I am assuming that I'll need to go Cardiac to mange endurance. I don't mind that since it'll boost resists as well, though Spiritual would be nice if it were possible.

I am not totally sold on the Epic pool, but I am not sure I want to go Villain to get Mu Mastery. That's something I can deal with later. I went Arctic instead of Pyre just for flavor.

Anyway, this is just my first attempt at a build so let me know if there are any major problems. I pulled from various places but am not 100% sure as I don't have a ton of experience with either set. Would have liked to fit a travel power in there but I can make do with Ninja Run/Jet Packs. Thanks!

  6. slaad - I have been wanting to roll up an Electric Armor tanker for a while now and like the look of your build...just have one question:

The build looks pretty tight slot-wise...do Rage and Footstomp (looooove it on my Brute) provide sufficient damage output (given that most attacks are just 4 slotted for the defense boost from kinetic combat) for someone that likes to solo?

I really enjoy the fact that I can wade into groups and survive on my tankers but tend to get a little annoyed at the damage output at times.

So what are you saying here? That you just won't read the patch notes unless they are sent to you via e-mail? How are the devs to know which specific issues are SO important to you that they email you when that item, and only that item, is changed?

You can't just say, "Well I don't like to read patch notes!" and then claim ignorance to a change in the same breath. You chose to avoid spending a few minutes to skim patch notes. The changes are put forth for all to see, it is no ones fault but your own for not reading them. This is exactly why they have patch notes. You just took a class at the school of hard knocks, but did you learn anything?
  8. This is where I'm at right now. Slotting will need to be altered a bit once I can respec, but I don't think it's too terribly bad right now (particularly for something I just did on the fly as I leveled up without planning).

Any major issues off the bat? Right now I'm just working on soft-capping, which I will have as soon as I get the Obliteration in Lightning Rod finished, and get another Oblit set slotted in Shield Charge. Ranged will be capped once I slot out Tough (I think it was Tough, anyway).

Right now, this is a very very cheap build (which is probably part of the problem). I have only been slotting with what I have earned along the way, plus a little bit of influence sent from another character, so I don't have any real great sets just yet. No LotG or anything like that (no Going Rogue, so I can't get them through merits).

With a decent build on an appropriate farm, you shouldn't be having any problem. I suspect either build or farm problems.

As far as inproving survivability, increase defense, increase hit points, increase resistance, increase regeneration, and/or add a heal.
I believe they are SS based mobs, so there's no defense debuffs (I know the bosses use hurl as their ranged attack). This is making wonder if they're using Rage. Is that something that would show up in the combat log? If it's Rage (assuming Rage is available to custom mobs, I'm not that familiar with it), that could be the issue right there, so I may just need to find a new farm to run.

The minions and lieutenants may not be SS but there are definitely no defense debuffs. I have my defenses monitored and watch it pretty closely.
  10. Awesome, so my armchair analysis seems pretty good. I may have to get this guy going soon. It just sounds like a great combo. I've wanted an Electric Armor hero for a while now but just haven't gotten around to it.
  11. I don't have the tools available on this computer (and can't log in to export my build now anyway) to list my build at this time, but right now I'm at:

    Level 46 - Elec/SD/Fire
    38% Melee Defense
    44% Ranged
    34% AoE Defense
    29% S/L Resistance

This is primarily going to be a farming toon since Shield Charge > Lightning Rod is sooooo much cooler than the way my SS/FA brute farmer plays, so I'm not overly concerned with AoE Defense. Once I finish my two Obliteration sets (and one other set which I forget right now) I will be softcapped to Melee and Ranged.

Now, my issue when running a S/L farm (at 0x8) is that even while softcapped (I always have a purple popped), unless I am eating a 3-4 orange pills at a time (or running OWTS), my health just steadily declines and I need to keep a bunch of greens on hand. Part of me suspects that the bosses have build-up or something which I will need to verify when I can get in the game because at times it feels like I'm just getting crushed and drop to about 1/4 health in a matter of seconds. If that's the case, maybe I just need to find a new farm.

After soft cap, where do you get your survivability? Just through oranges/greens (I'd rather combine to reds if possible)? I just slotted a Numina +Regen +Recovery and will probably add a Regenerative Tissue unique, too, so that should help some, but I can't imagine how I'd survive running +2x8 (even without bosses). Slotting for S/L resistance doesn't seem feasible, but maybe I should look into it?

I will need to run a respec trial at some point to optimize slotting, so if necessary I could probably fit Aid-Self in, but that would require dropping Jacob's Ladder (which I will do regardless) and something else...One With the Shield being the most obvious choice for me (even though I do love it).

I will try to post a data chunk later tonight of my current build (which seems decent considering it wasn't a preplanned build) to see if anyone has any pointers. If anyone has any general advice until then, it would be appreciated (don't have going rogue yet, so I can't get any villain side patron powers or anything like that).
  12. I was chatting with someone the other night about SS/Elec vs. Dark/Elec, and while my own preferences lead me toward favoring SS just due to Footstomp (since I enjoy AoE), Dark/Elec really seems like a beast of a combination to me.

Elec is one of the sturdiest defense sets with a solid IO investment to add some defense to its already great resists, which seems like it would synergize well with the -ToHit from Dark's attacks. With two heals it seems like the biggest threat would be drowning yourself in all that endurance you'll have.

Is this combo as strong as I think it is? I primarily play solo with large spawns, so I tend to lean toward AoE focused sets (while SS isn't focused on AoE, Footstomp is delicious), but I am very tempted to roll this combo in the future. It will be expensive, but I don't have Going Rogue yet and won't roll it until I do (so I can move him hero-side), which should give me time to finish up my Elec/SD Scrapper and farm some influence for it (I have a SS/FA Brute farmer already, but it's not nearly as satisfying as Shield Charge > Lightning Rod). Yes, I could roll a scrapper, but I'd prefer the survivability of the Brute for this combo.

Note: I don't know either set very well, so my limited 'off the top of my head' analysis may be way off.

If you're going to test it, you should do it in a controlled environment. Pick an AE mission and run it a number of times using confuse, then a number of times without it. Change absolutely nothing about what you do (even follow the same path).

You can't rely on scanner missions because there are too many variables unaccounted for, and you need to do more than just a handful of runs to account for any possible anomalies.
  14. I'd like to see some kind of Plant Armor.

Photosynthesis: You absorb the carbon dioxide from the air surrounding you, healing yourself and increasing regeneration for a short time.

Ivy: Thick vines of Ivy cover your body, increasing resistance to Smashing and Lethal damage.

Those are just two spitballed powers. I know nothing of numbers and whatnot, I just thought a plant based defense set would be cool.

but whatever you do dont blame the game...its gotten WAY easier now then its ever been and it proves my point even more so.

at the end of the day. it really is the only arguement there is.it really is all about the influence. there simply is no other arguement.

im 39 years old. i work full time. pay bills and go out everyday life. i got the same problems in life as everyone else.so dont use real life as the excuse

dont use your too busy to focus on one toon..ive been here for 6 years and got 36 lvl 50s. gimmie a break if i was focusing on one toon i would still have only the lvl 50 thank you..so stop using that as an excuse.

stop blaming alt itis for it too...no one says they gotta be retired for the next 4 years while you do a 2nd build either.

there simply is one reason you guys say you cant have a high priced build.its influence! and this game has never been easier to gain influence.
You're the least reasonable 'voice of reason' I think I've ever seen.

People play the game differently than you do. Some people don't enjoy farming or playing the market to earn influence. Some people would rather play a tanker that's more survivable out of the box because they don't WANT to invest the time/influence into I/O'ing another set out to get a beast of a build.

Some people value their own time differently than you value yours. It's that simple.
  16. Thanks, Nihilii, that's basically what I had been thinking...with all of the red insps and other damage boosts, musculature just seemed meh to me, but I thought maybe I was missing something since they seemed so sure of themselves. And truth be told, I'm not that familiar with how the incarnate system works (just a basic understanding of how it works with the ED cap) so I figured I could very easily be wrong.
  17. I'm curious what people's thoughts are on this, since I got into a discussion in a group tonight about it and they have me rethinking my opinion on it.

I thought the recharge incarnate (forgive me, I don't know the name offhand) would benefit a pure farming build the most. Since it passively adds damage through more attacks, and through more uptime on build up/rage/fiery embrace.

Two people in the group swore up and down that musculature was the way to go for a tanker, but I had always thought that that was overall one of the worst for tanker (maybe not for farming though).

Anyway, the only influence/infamy farming I do is on my brute, where it seems like recharge is king.

Would musculature be a good choice for a Fire farming tanker (no, I don't plan on making one)?

Sorry if this has been discussed before...I did a search but couldn't find it.
  18. The pet AI is laughably bad. The problem, which is just mind-bogglingly stupid, is that after they run in for a melee attack, they attempt to stay at melee range even for ranged attacks. I've seen it too many times now, where my bots will run into melee range, kill the enemy with their melee attack, then run into melee range on the next mob before they start their ranged attacks.

This has also caused me to have to spam my "Go to" bind on numerous occasions, since the bot wants so badly to be in melee range. They end up bouncing back and forth as I try to keep them at ranged.

Love my bots, but holy christ is the AI pathetic.
  19. Not looking for a build or anything, I have a general idea of where I'm going but I do have a couple of things I'm not sure on.

    1. Jacob's Ladder...should I take this for leveling and respec out of it (maybe at 22 when I start to use IOs) or should I just skip it altogether?

    2. With the lack of any self heal, will I need Aid Self for this build or should I just make sure to have some greens on hand? I've never really leveled anything without a self heal so I'm not sure what I'm getting myself into just yet, but if I need to grab Aid Self I'm gonna have to take a close look what I'm planning because that might be tough to fit in.

    Thanks!
  20. Granite Armor - For the love of all that is holy, allow us to customize granite armor. It's the only armor in the stone set that you can't change and is a real theme-killer.
  21. Thanks for all of the suggestions guys.

I'll work on adding a slot to each attack for END Reduction as soon as I can fit them in (attacks are only 3 slotted so far).

As for the suggestion regarding tip merits...I don't have Going Rogue yet and won't any time soon due to financial uncertainties at the moment.

    Again, thanks for the advice!
  22. Hmmm, I hadn't thought of that. Thank you!
  23. Thanks! I will start playing the market a bit and try to grab those when I can. Aside from that I think I'll just frankenslot and focus on leveling.

One last question about Dark Armor...should I be fighting with Cloak of Darkness on? The 5% defense seems nice so long as I can handle the END. I'm just not a fan of it aesthetically...being invisible is meh.
  24. I haven't ever found a Hero that I enjoy playing but this one is fun so far and I don't want to hit a wall with him. Really liking the DA/Fire combo.

The issue is obviously endurance, with DA having so many toggles and the self heal being so endurance heavy. Survivability isn't an issue so far...a bit dicey at times but nothing I can't usually handle (running at -1/3 right now) at level 17.

The issue is if I run out of blues before I can down the minions, I end up having to turn off Death Shroud which means the minions are alive for that much longer, which means more incoming damage. Either that or risk my toggles dropping and faceplanting shortly thereafter.

Any tips on managing the END issues? I try to keep blues on hand but that's not always enough. I'm slotting at least one END reduction in each toggle (another is a pretty minimal change with DOs). I just added a second slot to Stamina, so hopefully that will help, and SOs are only what...5 levels away?

Also, are there any easy to get +Defense set bonuses on the cheap that I could just replace later when I'm trying to optimize? I'm only at about 7% Defense with my toggles going (DA seems more resistance based but I haven't looked too far ahead yet) and would like to squeeze out just a bit more if possible. It's wishful thinking on my part since I just came back to the game and only have about 40 mil, so these would have to be pretty cheap enhancements. If not, I'll just invest in some KB protection and go forward with IOs when I get time.

EDIT - Definitely going to get the KB protection. I forgot how annoying that crap is.
