Quote:It was Time of the Twins cover that got me interested in who the cover artist was but even in that one there's a difference in hand size that can be distracting.I like Elmore's Dragonlance Chronicles and the Twins trilogy covers. His "The Death of Sturm" is also one of my favorites.
Funny that color should be mentioned, though, since its his frequent use of earth tones and twilight lighting that appeal to my aesthetic tastes. In fact, it is probably why the mentioned novel's cover drew me.
Plus, at the end of the day (though I didn't realize it at the time) he did the cover to what got me to pick up D&D (coming up on 30 years as a hobby) in the first place: The 1983 Red Box cover -
Quote:I heard that complaint in game from a few people. The consensus was just to run SSA1 for merit farming purposes.Hey guys,
I noticed that the SSA's got broken. I'm assuming some self righteous hacker added too much clicking through dialogue, extra cut scenes and more than 3 quick missions per arc.
Is there any update as to when the new SSA's will be re-adjusted to the pre-established rate of ~9 minutes per Villain Merit?
Also, when this adjustment happens, will we be retroactively awarded with extra Villain merits for every time we completed the more-than-twice-as-long-as-they-should-be arcs?
This bug is annoying, and whatever screwup haxor decided to insert extra time clicking through lore and doing extra missions into a perfectly fine and productive allignment merit farm should be held accountable for their actions.
Thanks,

Quote:I know you didn't compare Elmore to Mr No Feet Tiny Hands Bajillion Teeth and Spines Are Optional, but seeing them in the same sentence made my brain go into a test pattern anyways. Despite his own fairly frequent proportion problems (especially in paintings with more than two people), Elmore is who got me into fantasy art. When I see terrible art on Deviant Art I tend to ignore it rather than criticize it. Unless the artist has it marked for constructive criticism, in which case I will try to find something to praise before trying to gently point out flaws.
I'm a little more openly critical about so-called professional art that I'm potentially meant to pay for. The two artists in that vein that I think I've been most critical of over the years are Rob Liefeld and Larry Elmore. But it's certainly true that Liefeld wouldn't have as many haters if he was just some guy on Deviant Art - less public exposure would necessarily mean fewer haters. However, there's a chance that he'd still have become the memescot for bad art. -
This is an Airwolf.
Funny. Rewatching that intro for the first time in decades I just noticed the body count in the INTRO is higher than some modern action shows runs. -
Well, it does do a pretty good job in a minute of explaining why Banner came back and how he came back, which was a little bit of a plot hole in the movie. I wonder why it hit the cutting room floor?

While the destroyed lab map IS pretty cool (one of my favorites) this is from SSA1. I flew down one of the volcanoes in the lava filled Hollows finale map.
Fun with ragdolls!

They do need the gang emblem on the back. Otherwise they're not Skulls.

Quote:Most of the builds you see around are using Invention Origin enhancements, which are usable by all Origins equally.SS/Fire
Origin: Natural
I'm completely lost I read all these thread and feel lost haha I check over them more then once and realise none of them have same origin then me so some of their Enhancements I'm unable to use.So if anyone has a more simple guide out to making a Farmer ss/Fire Brute I would appreciate the help.
If you need a basic Single Origin build look through the oldest of guides that predate inventions. Specific enhancement names aren't important in those builds: just take one of them and find the equivalent enhancements at the natural vendors - all origins have access to the same enhancement types. They're just stupidly named so you have to right click a few which don't give you a clue as to what they actually do. -
Indeed.
If the crap from beta goes live anywhere near as is we might finally get that 85% resistance cap lashing that certain people have been saying brutes need for years (the one that was actually put in when the fury changes were made, but never saw live).
And I wouldn't blame them.
edit: Ah, haven't touched the beta server since Tuesday's patch to it. They did tone the resist bonuses down significantly. You might want to recheck your numbers, Moonlighter. -
Celestial color fixing!
I'm looking forward to this change more than any other feature I've heard about for the past six months. -
While it's long since stopped surprising me I still find it amazing that people aren't satisfied with a month or two between power sets.
Water blast was just last month. Nature affinity is this month. Bio armor could very well be next month.
Just because something's on beta doesn't mean we're automatically entitled to it. Even if it's 'ready'. This is a business. -
Fill your inspiration bar full of small purples, hit a map full of fire based enemies, and insp pop as they drop.
Bam. Farm build for 3000 inf.
Seriously, it's how I did most of my own prestige runs in AE. Eventually, though, I realized I'd made enough inf and tickets that I could afford one of them fancy thing-a-majigure city boy 'farm' builds. I know things have changed - with the ambush fix I'm not sure how much time on map is spent: back when I was most active it was 6 minutes or so on Hasten alone - it can't be that much. Since 8 minutes is enough to clear some 8 man police scanner maps it HAS to be more efficient than that. -
Quote:To an extent. That extent being when Moment of Glory is up to take the alpha. Which it allows you to do because of all the defense it gives.Yeah, I know I will. I'll probably end up building this toon the way your build is. But I just need something cheap ATM.
I do have a quick question though:
Can regen be sturdy with out building for defense?
If I was to maximize rech and damage then I could kill baddies before they have a chance to kill me.
The higher you build your natural defenses the less you have to rely on moment of glory to survive alpha strikes and the less clicks you need to make to keep fighting. The less you're hit the more powerful your heals become - if it takes an enemy group 3 seconds to have you hit reconstruction your reconstruction is overshadowed. If it takes an enemy group 3 minutes to have you hit reconstruction your reconstruction is overpowered.
Maximizing recharge and damage to try and kill enemies first is a Stalker's game. -
Quote:Replace the Panacea with Doctored WoundsWow, that's a great build. Very nicely done, but that's not in my 500 mil range. I need a build that insider close to the 500 mil.
I played around on mids earlier and I can't seem to come with anything.
Planet J, thank you for the build but could you see what you could come up with that's way cheaper. I appreciate your time. I really suck at making builds. It took me almost a full year to get my SS/WP brute to a build that suited me.
Thank you again guys for your help.
Replace Armageddon with Oblvion
Replace Hecatomb with Crushing Impact
Lose the Pvp +3% for the moment.
It's around 500 million without the purples/pvp sets - with the heavy recharge already slotted the purples are getting you about 15% over the above oranges, which has minimal effect on the heal recharge rates. Especially since you'll rarely be using said heals.
Use alignment merits to get the luck of the gamblers when you can and voila - an affordable build that will give you a taste of what the pvp/purple one is capable of. If you like it, then you can work towards the monster final version. Grab the pvp +3% def first if you go that route. -

Another vote for Titan Weapons/Willpower. It's a monster from the moment you step out of the tutorial to the moment you slot your last t4. However, since WP's off the table I'll throw my support behind /dark.

Quote:You are correct - I don't have to tell you that's been one of the biggest detriments to the Blaster AT's existence: If everyone does near blaster damage and brings more to the table than that, what's the advantage of being a blaster?Starting with I7, the devs have added far more offense to the game than defense. If tanker survivability is being made redundant, damage dealer offense is being made more redundant.
(I say starting with I7 because that's the most fair starting point: if I started from any point prior to I7 it would be even worse for survivability: on average melee archetypes were even stronger prior to I5 and the net increase in survivability over time from pre-I5 is lower, prior to I4 its even lower than that).
In some ways Tankers and Blasters suffer from the same base problem - specialization in a game that rewards generalism. -
Quote:Tanks should do more damage because their primary role can be handled by other ATs.It's not possible to have a discussion with me?
ANSWER THE QUESTION!
WHY SHOULD TANKS DO MORE DAMAGE?
you still refuse to answer it, and resort to calling me unreasonable because no one who tries to make an argument for it can provide an answer...?
Tanks are not broken.
Increasing Tanker damage output to narrow the gap between them and the other melee ATs - of which we currently have two too many - is less invasive than lowering the damage of three other ATs. Or even one.
Tankers are not broken. They're superfluous. That's almost worse. -
Don't enemies resist -damage with their resistance values?

Quote:Most raids in newer non-Asian MMOs are following the 'under an hour' development mindset these days.Yeah, I saw a similar scenario on 1,000 Ways to Die. And seriously, that's why I like CoX. What raids we have are short and don't take days or longer. How could devs expect people to play for non-stop days? Devs of other games should really look at CoX and what it does RIGHT!
