Funny. Most Vigilante tips already play out like your Zealot alignment. Most Rogue tips already play out like your Anti-Hero alignment. Whether they should or not is an argument for another thread. Why add more?

Quote:The problem with changing the team up teleporter to 8 is that the event will start every time with 8. Why is that a problem? As mentioned not every group of cobbled together 8 can beat the winter lord in his realm. I was on plenty of red side teams last year that flat out failed with less than two full teams.Well, technically, I'm not whining about the large group content as such, but the lack of small group options for said content. If someone wanted the maximum to be raised to 100 players, I'd support them. You want large groups? Fill your boots. I want small groups to be availabe AS WELL. Sux to be me, eh?
Eco.
They could redesign the encounter to be more pug 8 friendly but then it goes against their artistic vision - two teams facing off against a powerful threat.
I am hoping they don't take away the giant present option for people such as yourself who want to try it with less than that but if they have to then my vote is indeed on the 12+ requirement for a little extra success cushioning.
I find the forced teaming of the valentine's event, requiring a hero and a villain, more obnoxious than jumping in a queue, personally. I just wish the TuT worked from within instances. Even if it just said 'team is ready. You must exit this instance before confirming. 60 seconds remaining.'
edit: Most of these maps don't throw you out after completion (actually, I think the winter lord's does come to think of it, to get people to stop farming the map. Hmm.). What I did with the Death From Below trial and haunted mansion when I wanted to explore them was make 3 free accounts and pad the mission myself. That would be more obnoxious with a minimum of 12, granted. -
According to the article at discovery.com they didn't have the guts to find out. They submitted it for testing and then will have it preserved.

With hundreds of hours logged on a bs/regen scrapper I can honestly say it's not as sexy as it appears. Kat/WP, though, is golden.

My fire melee/stone brute was the first character I used a free transfer on to ship off to my retirement home of Exalted.
She was tough, but not so much tougher than Inv on brute to justify the inability to jump over puddles. -
Bug it until they do. If enough people /bug it for medical reasons it may very well change. It worked for sonic (after a few years).
MIght be a good idea (and perhaps faster) to PM Tunnel Rat about it as well, and throw it into the all things art:effects thread for good measure. -
Are you still going on about that? That line was pure fluff. The real reason was that they a) didn't have time to create an assassin's strike animation for it (or had no inclination to, if you prefer your buttered toast face down), and b) couldn't decide what would get dropped for said AS.
Yeah, it sucks that TW wasn't ported but there are extra considerations when porting to stalker.
edit: On topic I really dislike the way Ice plays, but if my brutey brethren really want another sub-par defense set I'm not opposed to the idea. Might as well grab ninjitsu at the same time. Replace hide with a high pain threshold clone and call it a day. That or move it to later in the tree (bump the heal down) and make it a cloak of darkness or energy cloak clone. -
A Super Strength Brute.
I took one to 50 using jump kick, air superiority, and boxing as my attacks of choice. With Rage running and fury the damage isn't bad at all.
The character has since been rerolled as Street Justice, as that was the 'feel' I was looking for with the power selection, but it was definitely playable. -
It punches things until they fall down, while dodging things to avoid falling down first?
-
We're talking about something with intersteller capabilities here... a technological marvel beyond our comprehension.
If the alien visitors wanted to be seen, they'd be seen. No flitting around bad camera angles. Park over a major metropolis and call it a day.
If the alien visitors did not want to be seen, they would not be seen. No flitting around bad camera angles. Make observations from orbit content in the knowledge that the material you made your craft out of for stealthy observation is far beyond any sort of observational ability of the world you're observing.
After all, for your kind the light barrier wasn't insurmountable. Why would revealing yourself or hiding yourself be any kind of challenge?
edit: When in doubt about whether something is an alien craft or not, err on the side of physics. -

Yes, and the subforum root icons look different. New version of software?

While all that is true I'd still rather tank with invulnerability or a high defense electric armor than a regen brute. There are less surprises.
Regeneration, outside of moment of glory, is all about dealing with high-but-slow damage. Single hard targets don't pose much risk for regeneration. Tanking is all about dealing with continuous incoming damage, something regen isn't very good at on SOs/Basic IOs.
Once you IO things out and get your defenses into the sweet spot of 32%+ things are a lot better, of course. That slows the incoming damage down to the point where you can go entire missions without using a click.
This is all on paper. Team buffs can get you to that sweet spot easily so in practice as long as you have a - I was going to say 'balanced' team, but really it's any team where people aren't afk - team you'll be ok. Especially if you're not above popping purples as they drop. -
Scrappers are only noticeably better, damage wise, with /shield and with kinetic melee in my experience. So go crazy.
The sword sets aren't talked about much here probably because they've been talked to death in the scrapper forums over the years. Plus most new threads are about ss/fire. -
With my heart condition it's more likely that my eyes will go dark before the servers do, but that's pretty much what it will take to end my time in the City.

Quote:Deleting the Solider of Arachnos ATs and giving their leadership toggles to Stalkers.I guess the better question should have been what will it take to finally get rid of "lol stalkers" in all teaming situations across all servers?
edit: More seriously.. give them scrapper base health and health cap. Make it harder for a mob like a Freakshow Tank Buster or a Lesser Devoured to two shot you.
I'd settle for Hide clearing aggro, since even the powers team still thinks that stalkers are all about hit and run. -
Fear not. Make a new alt and someone from one of the Unknowns will be spamming you momentarily.
-
Quote:Which is ironic, as the song is actually called "Rockin' Robin" with the apostrophe.Maybe I should start doing that. I think if you're character doesnt look, act or have the same powers than it shouldn't get generic'd. This is just a little silly. I even tried on Exalted but Rockin Robin isn't available. I can get Rockin' Robin so I might just go with that..

It does work better with brutes, and ss/fa is only the ultimate combo of ultimate destiny when enough money is thrown at it. Before IOing it gets its effin' face stomped in by pretty much anything not a fire farm at x8.

Super Strength, Stone Melee, and Dark Melee all pair well with /FA.
SS brings Rage to push the damage and accuracy from Fire Aura up. Stone Melee brings control in the form of Seismic Smash and Fault, shoring up FA's defensive weakness.
Dark melee does both: Soul Drain pushes the secondary damage up while the -to hit in all it's attacks and second heal in siphon life shore up the defensive weaknesses. It even has a second recovery power in dark consumption.
To me those are the three standout /fire pairings, but this is CoX. Anything, ANYTHING, works. I love how fast the Street Justice animations are. It would work fine, though if you're unpleased with martial arts damage StJ might not be your thing. Pretty sure they rate about the same damage wise, with MA having more control. Then again as a /fire brute your primary is just something you do while waiting for burn to recharge. -
Quote:New Atlas, New Mercy. 5 new contacts for 1 - 20 in each.Don't worry GG, no one expects you to.
As to the OP, I think you have a point. Maybe we need a bit more focus on stories set within the CoH world and how our characters interact with it. Normal, standard story arcs, that have nothing to do with the Praetoria/Incarnate plotline.
How many of those have we seen lately?
New level 1+ task force/strike force.
That was just issue 21. -
But what was CoX without the gimmicks? Were the good old days really all that good? OVer the years I've had almost a dozen friends try COH, see that it's nothing more than a second generation treadmill MMO with nothing to do except grind alts, and leave.
I've lured a few back with the 'hey, it's free!' thing. They like the quality of life changes, but, since they're not VIPs, they have the same complaints. You make a character, you get on teams, you grind to 50, you make a new character.
Roleplay? If that's your thing then all the gimmicks in the world won't stop you. End game grind getting you down? Don't make a character that needs to become an omega incarnate to fill it's rp niche.
Raid? That's where gimmicks come in and frankly the old task forces were really, really dull without them. The tanker taunts. The av beats helplessly on the tanker until its mez protection is overloaded and it becomes a statue. The statue is beat on until it dies. Alternatively there is no tanker and the av is so debuffed it beats helplessly on a controller until it dies. Whatever works.
At it's core concept City of Heroes is about allowing you to make a character with superpowers and beat things up. How has that changed any?
edit: Especially since all the old pre-gimmick content is still in the game, whining with puppy dog eyes, begging to be played? -

Advertising to a man's sense of masculinity is as old an advertising ploy as advertising to women's vanity. Because it works. Not all men are masculine. Not all women are pre-occupied with their appearance. However, social conditioning that starts from the time you're old enough to know that you're a boy and she's a girl makes sure that it hits a broad enough target base to succeed.
This is just plain old fashioned advertising sense. -
