Welcome to a strange turn in altitis

Last night my wife, was playing City of Heroes, and she told me that a friend of hers had decided to make a character and use mainly power pool powers.

She then said do you want to? Well after a few seconds of thinking sure why not...

I rolled up a fire/force field controller thinking well...at the most I have been wanting a fire/ff, and you don't "need" many regular powers from the secondary.

Our friend rolled a stalker (I forget which sets) and my wife rolled a claws/electric scrapper ((why because unless its an empath ((which gets played as a scrapper)) everything is a scrapper))

So I would love to hear so input on, well anything about what sort of ATs would make, I hesitate to use the word good, characters, perhaps best..use of these power choices, or what power sets....etc..

I haven't had tons of time to ponder, but i would probably go with a bots/ff mm

No need to invest heavily in either the primary or secondary to be pretty effective at what it does leaving you to dip in power pools to your heart's content.

Without question, this.

My Bots/Force Mastermind has 5 Primary and 5 Secondary powers in his current build. That is about as primary/secondary light as you'll find (and not suck).

@Draeth Darkstar
Virtue [Heroes, Roleplay], Freedom [Villains], Exalted [All Sides, Roleplay]
Code:
I24 Proc Chance = (Enhanced Recharge + Activation Time) * (Current PPM * 1.25) / 60*(1 + .75*(.15*Radius - 0.011*Radius*(360-Arc)/30))
Single Target Radius = 0. AoE Non-Cone Arc = 360.

T3 Cardiac, T3 Ion, T3 Drone currently ( might change to polar lights or storm ) . I'm on the way to unlocking Destiny not sure if I want to go with Barrier for the resistance numbers or the regeneration one for 120 second duration ( forget the name ) to add on with Triage Beacon . Before Incarnates could solo 2/8 with or without pet ( pet was more for show ) now I am doing 3/8 and even 4/8 on some mobs. 3/8 setting is really more steady flow though and 2/8 is really smooth

A Super Strength Brute.

I took one to 50 using jump kick, air superiority, and boxing as my attacks of choice. With Rage running and fury the damage isn't bad at all.

The character has since been rerolled as Street Justice, as that was the 'feel' I was looking for with the power selection, but it was definitely playable.

Holy crap! I'm not sure if that's awesome or sick in the head!

You could always try playing Toggleman. Spines/Dark Scrapper with every toggle from primary, secondary, and pools. As long as you're getting CJ/Acrobatics you can grab the new AoE. You'd actually do pretty reasonable AoE damage with two damage toggles and that power along with maybe Spine Burst.

A buddy of mine told me, why don't you make a petless demon summoning/force fielder, if I wanted to make a primary power pool build. *twitchs*

The robots/force field mastermind is actually very playable on minimal core powers. Mine has, let's see, five from the primary and seven from the secondary, and actually does really well. And I could, if I wanted, cut one or two off from force field that I barely ever use without messing up the process of play at all.

My Bots/FF has 5 primary powers and five secondary, with huge investments in Medicine, Leadership and the Flight pool. Air Superiority is her auto power. I leave her in Bodyguard mode full time and spend most of my time smacking things in melee. She's the only character I've played that ran out of places to put slots and useful power picks in her mid 40s. She's not at all gimpy. She makes a reasonable replacement for a Tank, Defender or Blaster as a team requires. I mostly play her on teams where I'm more interested in chatting than gaming because she is almost 100% autopilot.

Petless Demons/Poison Mastermind. All you really need are the 3 Whip attacks, Envenom, and Weaken. Leaving you with... However many power picks that is for Pool powers.

Trust me, it's actually a viable build, if you're motivated enough.
