Over time the development of the game has resulted in Hero side having more self-contained zones (contacts in the zone don't tend to send you all over the place). The Hollows (5-15), Faultline (15-25), Striga Isle (20-29), and Croatoa (25-34). Also, at lvl 35+ both heroes and villains have access to the cooperative Rikti War Zone and Chimerora. A short mission arc has to first be completed to get to the latter of the two zones.
Hollows and Striga are hazard zones, but The Hollows has had a makeover that makes it a little friendlier to low level characters (mission doors tend not to send you to/across dangerous areas as much) -
Quote:I might be a bit late, but; Tech boards are up thar ^ (under 'development')PS: I have a very high speed connection and a fast system, no lag in other mmo's
Look at the helpful tips & posting guide, and provide your hijackthis and CoHhelper logs. "fast system" don't mean jack without the specs and up-to-date drivers to back it up.
If I had to guess, however, I'd say you - as a returning player - have a number of the ultramode settings higher than your system can handle. Try turning ambient occulsion way the heck down/off. That was the main culprit for my system. -
Quote:Same setting my claws/sr ran it at... the funny part was that because the ambushes more or less aggro'd upon spawning, first thing engineers did was call their turrets; but the turrets didn't follow them. After I was done, I had some fun getting frostfire to help me with a hallway full of turrets.I soloed that one on my claws/SR scrapper at +0/x5 a few days back. After about ten minutes of scrapperlock, I described it in one of the global channels as "a worthy challenge".

Quote:Well, at least they gave us a nice map... granted the paragon city map was from CoH release in 2004, and is all kinds of out of date (They haven't yet updated the maps in the tram stations in game either, last I checked)/signed. I have always been curious as to why there never was a legend in game anyway. I think it was in the manual originally, but I don't think they even ship a paper manual anymore. (at least there wasn't one in the GvE box).
Oh and yes, origins are a kinda pointless, but since I'm sure someone uses it, they should add a faction filter and not necessarily replace the origin filter. -
Quote:Honestly, I was considering saying this in my suggestion (I can count the times I've cared about someone's origin on zero hands), then I thought, "No, with my luck that would draw in the few crazy people who do use the origin filter, and the bickering would detract from the overall suggestion."And not to derail too much, but as has been suggested elsewhere: also replace 'origin' and the origin icons with 'faction' and faction icons. So You know who can go where, and join who.
But yes, a legend/sort function on the colors would be very handy. re-optimizing the search window in a multiplayer game is always an excellent plan. -
Only time I'd complain is if your bots were routinely knocking enemies into other mobs and aggroing them (and causing teamwipes. If the team can take it - even better). If not, you are free to keep the enemies on their back-ends. Honestly, It's like blaming the energy blaster... what do you want him to do, sit back and absorb XP?

Maybe its just me, but I just can't seem to ever recall the new colour-code scheme for the team search window. I'm sure eventually I'll get used to it, but right now if I want to use it, I more or less NEED a legend open on my other monitor. I can't possibly be alone in this regard, and new players will almost certainly have no idea what they mean... So I have a couple possible suggestions on improving this improvement:
- Make a button that opens a small dialogue box with the colours and their meaning.
- Add a new drop-down with search filters based on the colours, and add quick descriptive names highlighted in the corresponding colour.
Button or drop-down, this new item in the search window should probably be called "status" -
Quote:Couldn't have cost ya too much; how many did you buy? ô.oThanks for the replies.
I wasted a bunch of money for nothing, then.
Quote:It'd be much simpler and faster if damage was just damage, instead of being separated into melee and range and AoE and PBAoE and like three more other damage types I think I saw at the auction house.
I guess it's a learning experience.
-One, Ranged Damage and Targeted Aoe can and do take the occasional range (also sniper takes interrupt), and in their infinite wisdom, they've seen fit to be stingy with end reduction for PBAoEs.
-Two, force the use of certain proc types to certain vectors (I'd imagine certain things like the "chance for hold" and "chance for self heal" would be hugely popular in damage AoEs, where they'd have a better chance to trigger due to more targets being hit)
-Three, varied set bonuses, making it harder to do any "one size fits all" IO build for damage oriented powersets (also allowing us to use more than one purple set in damage powers)
-Four, they may have learned a thing or two about "unintended side effects" of allowing multi-aspect enhancements in certain powers that ended up enhancing things that they weren't intended to enhance. I think there might still be a couple Hamidon origin loopholes that aren't closed. -
You can not put two of the same set IO into a power. This forces you to get the entire set if you want the set bonuses. However, if you really want another dam/rech in the power, you could slot one from any other set (of the category the power accepts). "Ruin: Dam/Rech" for example.
Also, in the enhancement screen, hovering over each power will reveal the "allowed enhancement set categories", only sets that match each power's categories can be slotted. Far Strike, a "ranged damage" set, cannot go in empty clips as that accepts "targeted AoE", not ranged. -
So, I was wandering around the Imperial City, when I find a half buried door. This is not entirely unusual in CoH, what with all the standard buildings with predetermined door locations being up against hills or rubble...
But there's no buildings within about 50ft of it. (-2444.6 -18.9 1542.5)
Naturally, my first instinct was to click on it. My second instinct was to log out near it in hopes of seeing the underbelly of the city. Sadly even the tiny Manilla Ire was not small enough to fit under there. Now I have been merged with the cement! All will fear Manilla Ire, the kinetic melee sidewalk of doom!

As far as I'm aware, no; the Complete Collection item pack (costumes, stances, auras, and the power) does not come with the free month.

Quote:No... No they do not. o.oSprint and prestige sprints all take Zephyr and Winter's Gift..
They do not take universal travel.
EDIT; mids nothing, I triple-checked in game, making sure there wasn't an i18 change i wasn't aware of. Sprints have not, for a very long time, accepted universal travel sets. I do not say "have not ever" because I'm unsure if, at very first they did, but that it was taken away. It is for the simple reason that the devs do not want to give a large advantage to veterans by giving them 4 free slots to place slow resist and KB proection. -

Nighttron and Shadowa?
*shrug* might want to play around with the Name generators over at Seventh Sanctum, use a thesaurus to change some common words to ones less likely to be used, translate words into other languages, or coax something appealing out of an Anagram generator. Or any combination of the above. Whenever I get stuck, these are the tools I use. -
Quote:Well the Bolded parts would explain a whole lot, but riddle me this; How did he fit those two anywhere in sprint, quickness, swift and/or hurtle? Not if you put in res slow, -kb, endurance, stealth, etc. And, if he was using sets he might have used lower-level travel sets for exemplaring, which means 3 isn't necessarily at the ED cap.
I'm 100% with you that it sounds like wasted slots anyway. -
That... Sounds like a lot of wasted slots, honestly. And not just adding slots to sprint & swift & such... but... 4 slots? 3 I can see... but with 4 you're going way over the ED effectiveness cap, no?

Great... Steam gets it before Canada... (sorry, not shutting up until my pre-order is filled.)

Quote:Guy at my EB said that; at this point, the date's just going to keep moving back in ~3 day increments until they get it in. So I should check in every few days. It was around this point that I walked out of the store, and flipped the clerk the bird as he wished me a nice day. It wasn't his fault, but I needed someone to vent my annoyance at.Just got back from EBGames where I was told the date on the website has now been changed to the 23rd. Stuck me as odd that they'd say on Friday that it would be available on Monday. The guy at the desk also read me an email sent out to all stores saying the shipment is stuck at the borders. I guess they're just trying to give us some excuse.
Black Pebble's post is reassuring though. Hopefully it doesn't take too long to sort out. -
Quote:Same... although I get the runspeed cap of 92.5. I slotted elude with BoTZHi,
my Claws/SR scrappie has
Ninja + Sprint + Swift + Quickness + Elude and I get 86.7 mph.
Even without Elude I still whizz about at a satisfactory rate.
Cheers
PS. It also has Fly as a main & thematic travel power.
Hover for in missions. With swift/quickness slotted for fly, it moves me at a sufficient rate from mob to mob, and there's always the jump pack for a little extra speed when I need it.
Main travel power is Teleport. (with the added bonus of two BoTZ mules)
Yes, I know BoTZ isn't what it used to be, but it's still something and I don't feel like reworking the build. -
It helps if you are using a service like photobucket which automatically creates thumbnails of whatever you upload. Right-click the preview thumbnail, and select either "view image" or "copy image location" to get the address of the thumb (I prefer view, as it lets you confirm that the address leads to the correct item). Post that address in the
, highlight the result, and insert a link
to the full image.
For reference, trying to select the image and resizing it with those 8 squares does not work. -
Quote:Huh... well I stand corrected on pretty much all counts I guess (Could've sworn I regularly saw UPS deliveries to the local store.... could just as easily be Purolater, I suppose.) In either case, I strongly suspect that it is Gamestop, and not the vendor. Vendor problems certainly are possible, But I've run into too many 3-6 day delays from official release with them.Their main distribution centre in Canada is in Brampton, Ontario. Most within Canada should be shipping from 8995 Airport Rd. I worked in the building next-door, but we moved, and they took that building over, as well.
They don't rely heavily on UPS that I know of. Or at least, they never used to. They used to use Purolator primarily for outbound, and inbound, I saw a lot of DHL and Purolator for courier service, and for transport they used to use Yellow Transport. -
