You may want to post that question in the Mac Users forum section as well.

Quote:Recently, yes, there's been quite a bit. Is it too much? Well, that's where you start having to factor in things other than the amount of time itself.Have posted very little about this, but each time I have, Ive stated that its perfectly understandable. Nevertheless, compared to other MMOs I play and have played, it feels like too much. This is not a court, it is not covered in the EULA, I am not demanding anything from anybody. Just saying it feels like too much downtime. Compile the data, and see how much downtime theres been recently. Its a lot. Thats all Im saying.
It's been understandable when you consider that they are upgrading server hardware. And moving the servers. And putting new systems into the game that require more servers and more communications between the servers. And the location of the servers relative to those creating the game. And the location of the servers relative to the publishers offices. And other things that I may not be accounting for.
Things like the server people being sure that the upgrades they just did would handle the load and then finding out after putting the new patch in that the server couldn't handle it. Or an outlying problem was found that didn't show in testing but that needs to be fixed immediately before it crashes the servers. Or myriad other unforeseen events that may occur.
Looking at it over the historical perspective of the last 7+ years I think this has been a minor aberration from the norm. A statistical anomaly. Annoying, yes, certainly.
And if it is annoying us that much, don't you think the Devs that have been working on this for over a year are getting annoyed that things aren't going as planned (or as they did in the test environments) and they keep having to find fixes and take the servers down yet again to apply them? -
I never use the auto-update features on drivers. Sometimes it can really hose up a computer.
Considering the problems that have existed with the ATI drivers since 11.5, I'd never want those to try to auto-update. -
I can verify that the error message for the missing OpenGL drivers is working correctly.
I imaged a computer for testing an old video card (FX5200) under XP and noticed it had the basic Microsoft Drivers installed. I downloaded the drivers but was in the middle of Windows Updates so didn't install them. I intended to come back to that install shortly, but kept getting updates.
I got busy with other updates and other tech issues here at work so kept leaving the computer running.
This morning I finally got a chance to install the Launcher and the game (stopped the game install after a few minutes and copied over files from main computer at home to reduce the download time), let the game patch and launched it.
I got the error message clearly telling me that the drivers installed didn't support OpenGL and that I needed to update my drivers.
Working as it should be.
Nicely done. It will really help with letting players know what the problem with the driver is. -
Quote:That seems to be a reasonable assumption. At a guess I'd say it's related to the Patron Pools now being available 5 levels earlier than before and the mission not having been updated to reflect it?
What's wrong with you? Don't you know you can't make reasonable assumptions here on these forums? It's just not allowed!!!!!

Quote:Actually, they'd also likely look at the historical uptime/downtime for this game as well.Indeed, if this ever did go into a court, the court might spend some time trying to determine what a reasonable amount of downtime is in this area. They would then look at some of the market leaders, like that really big one that takes the servers down for huge amounts of time.
And then the case would be over.
They'd also likely factor in the reasons for the downtimes, including hardware upgrades, moving servers, completely new systems within the game being added, etc.
Also factor in that the Development team is in California while the servers are in Texas.
Also factor in that NCSoft offices are in Austin while the servers appear to be in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex so it's likely that the servers and technicians are not directly under the employment of NCSoft or Paragon Studios.
There are possibly other things that would factor into decisions about what is a reasonable amount of downtime.
But it's very possible that they'd likely look at downtimes and reliability throughout the MMO industry, not just with the market leaders.
All in all, I tend to think that a rational person weighing all of the factors would find that the recent downtimes are reasonable. -
Is it only in Atlas on Exalted or is it Atlas on any server?
If it's only Atlas on Exalted, it might not require an immediate downtime for the rest of the servers. -
Very well stated and organized.
We may need to ask them to Sticky this post. -
They posted last night that there would be maintenance today. There are times server maintenance is needed outside of the planned timeframes.
Stuff happens. -
Rachel, did you upgrade over the top of your existing drivers or did you uninstall the old drivers, reboot to safe mode and run Driver Sweeper to get rid of the leftover files, then reboot to normal windows and install the new drivers?
That is the generally recommended method for video driver installations. -
You still can. You need to set it in the Launcher. See the stickied Guide in this forum section about how to make the new launcher play nice. It should have the settings.

Free and Premium accounts can't use avatars.

From what I've seen in some other threads, you should have the proper amount of unlock tokens to unlock those characters. Since you had logged in to Justice as a Premium, it locked those slots. If you logged in to a different server and noticed you weren't VIP and upgraded then, your Justice characters would be unlocked and the unlock tokens would be on the other server.
A rather unintuitive system to have to use when coming back to VIP from Premium. -
It could also be a driver issue. The last driver released for that video card is the 10.2 Legacy Driver.
I would also recommend upgrading to Service Pack 3 for Windows XP. -
Nalora, have you tried starting a thread here following the procedures in the [Guide] Asking for technical help on the forums thread? If not, try it and you'll likely get several helpful people posting with suggestions for resolutions.
Your crashes don't seem to be localized to the Incarnate Trials, which is what this thread is about. -
They wiped the characters, as you stated you already knew that had reserved the right to do. The fact that they hadn't done a full wipe before has no bearing on it.
They had reasons for wiping it. -
You may want to try using an older version of video drivers. I've had better success with older cards using the 197.45 nVidia drivers. Those were the last WHQL drivers in the 1xx.xx series of drivers. I've had better luck using those than any of the 2xx.xx drivers on older cards.
It wouldn't hurt to try it at least. Also, what version of the drivers is your wife's computer using? I know it's a slightly newer card, but a driver version difference could be the issue as well.
You might try shutting down everything running in the background and at startup that isn't necessary since you also have less memory than she does.
Also, check your PM's if that doesn't work. -
Question for you once you wake up.
We use TightVNC as well on our network and I keep a TightVNC Viewer app on my flash drive so that I can remote from whatever computer I'm working on to my own desktop.
Have you tried the TightVNC Viewer app to see if it will work? -
And to actually answer your question, players cannot delete their threads, only their posts. But here, it's better to post what fixed it so that others can benefit.
The only way to have a thread deleted is to PM one of the OCR team. They "may" be willing to delete it depending on the circumstances and whether or not it has relevant replies. -
Now this is odd. I was able to reply using my Premium account to this thread. I was able to edit the reply, even though it says I'm not supposed to be able to (and I got an error message but the Edit stayed anyway) but now I don't get the Quick Reply box on this thread.
Really odd. -
Looks very reasonable.
Thanks for soliciting our feedback and taking our concerns to heart with regard to the AT specific forums.
