Too bad they didn't run it on Justice. They could have had you on the team with them.

Quote:In the Daphne du Maurier novelette the movie is based on, it is Seabirds, not Seagulls.
In the Hitchcock film, it is a variety of birds, including Seagulls, Sparrows and Crows. The first birds in the film are Lovebirds.
The writer of the screenplay had actually read the novelette, but Hitchcock told him to disregard it as all he wanted to use was the title and the idea of birds attacking people.
Ub Iwerks of the Walt Disney Corporation did the special effects shots of the attacking birds since traditional blue screens couldn't handle the flapping wings correctly. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for the Special Effects, but the award went to Cleopatra instead. -
Quote:Stanford Shopping Center sounds good to me. Of course, since that's where Schaub's is located I'm a bit biased.I'm thinking we find out where the FPS is before we make lunch plans on Saturday. I don't go into Palo Alto much, but my recollection is parking can be a pain in certain areas.
That said, the Creamery sounds good! Which one do you like? I see two locations. Once in the Stanford Shopping Center, and the other in the downtown area.
Something needs to be done about that...
And I agree. Knowing where the venue for the FPS is will help in the planning. -
Well crap. Now he says to plan for a midday meal since there will be a break.
I could do In 'n' Out. Or, I could go back to Schaub's for another Fred's Steak sandwich.
Or, see what Red Gren can come up with. -

Good for you Redlynne. And you'll be able to hammer them ... er ... discuss the Mac issues with them face to face.

Hmmm.
Quote:So, looks to be more like the first HeroCon than just a M&G.
Currently scheduled as a 10 AM ish start time, and going throughout the evening.
There may be Karaoke.
You have been warned.
Also, that seems to leave out Saturday lunch as well.
Indian food is on the same list as most Asian cuisine. Sorry. At least it isn't for the same reasons. -
Good to hear.
Will have to update my Facebook post.
And my post in the Justice forums since that will mean no midday meal get together for Justice players.
This is sounding better and better. -
Since the first HeroCon was a one day event, and this is very close to a HeroCon, does that mean it's more than just an evening's worth of fun? As in, something to occupy a good portion of the midday to evening hours on that Saturday?
-
Are you suggesting I can book the flight and car and not worry about the hotel in a package since there is likely to be a group rate? If so, I'll start getting the flight and car booked.

Me? Serious?
Only on the Tech forums.
The rest of the time there is a healthy dose of sarcasm, snark and general humor to my posts. -

For those that didn't see it, there is a discussion thread for the City of Heroes Freedom Player Summit that is being help on November 19.
I've already PM'd Red Gren to get busy trying to plan something for Friday Night and Saturday lunch for that weekend.
I'd love to see a strong Justice attendance this year, and would love to be able to hang out with my fellow Justice players. That's the main reason I go to these things after all.
Callie, if you are there this year you'd better introduce yourself. You've been part of the Justice family long enough now to just hang back. Listening in and not introducing yourself last year was mitigated slightly due to you being new, but this year you have no excuse.
If you are planning to go, or are thinking of going but haven't decided yet, please say so here in this thread so we can make better plans. -
It would really help those of us needing to make travel plans to have a location to book a hotel room in as part of a travel package.
The more notice you can give us on this the better since airline prices will likely be rising more as we get closer to the date.
EDIT: Even a PM would work. Since it's against the forum rules to make public any private correspondence, you know I wouldn't be breaking that rule because I'd have to report my own post.

Quote:It makes sense that the big event is in the Bay Area since that's where the Developers are. It's much more difficult for them to try to stop all work so all of the employees can make an event outside of that area. Not to mention the expense.Always on The West Coast for these Event never New York or PA or whatever other East Coast Stuff.
They have been branching out the past couple of years and attending other events around the country and having M&G's while they are there. IIRC, they've been to PA and NYC for cons and had M&G's there. -
I'll be there.
Tentative planning has me flying in just before noon Friday and leaving Sunday evening. I'm going to be renting a car for those of us that get together for outside events, meals, sight-seeing, or what-have-you. I'll be getting in touch with some of the regulars to try to get things arranged. (Hear that Red Gren? You're on the clock for planning the meals aside from Saturday breakfast at Holder's Country Inn.) I'll also see what I find for Hotel rooms and may have a bed available for someone looking to share a room.
I'll have to try to twist Zwallenhorf's arm to get him to join us for the Bacon Waffles on Saturday morning.
It's a bit of a financial stretch for me this year, but since this is really the only thing I do for myself all year I consider it to be worth it.
I look forward to seeing and spending time with the players that are in attendance. -
Be sure to grab the 11.9 ATI drivers. They seem to have resolved the problems many ATI users were having with the 11.5 - 11.8 drivers.
I haven't heard much on the 11.10 drivers yet, so I'd hold off on trying those. -
Quote:Not only have they upped their prices a bit, but also the 60 Day time cards (both the US version and the EU version) are out of stock. Here is a helpful link for getting time on peoples accounts. The game card site listed in the link has upped their prices a little bit.
http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/R_M%27s_...g_Cheap_Months
The current prices they list are $22.50 for the 60 Day US card, $16.99 for the 30 Day US card, $26.99 for the 60 Day EU card and $15.99 for the 30 Day EU card.
I've bought from them in the past and had 0 problems with the purchase or receiving the code. The code applied easily on the NCSoft site once I logged into my account.
There are quite a few sites that come up in a Google search using the following search terms:
PlayNC Time Card
Some have only the US cards, some have only EU cards and some have both. Some are digital delivery which means no shipping charges, you receive the keys in a short amount of time and you can then email them to your overseas friend if you bought the correct card for their account. -
Quote:They are trying to find a way for non-VIP players to have limited access to the forums. They haven't gotten everything configured to do it which is why they haven't made any official announcements, but this was one part of the process. What I can't figure out is why the option exists at all. Nobody else can post on the forums!
I know that Gameplay / Technical Issues & Bugs was one section that had this enabled as I was replying from this account to a non-VIP that had some questions and was able to log in my non-VIP account and post a reply as well. -
Quote:There is a way to avoid doing them. Run the missions in The Hollows along with Twinshot's first arc (or just skip Twinshot as well). Once you get to Level 10 you will be introduced to Montague and run the Midnighter's Arc. Montague at some point will introduce you to a new contact and you can start the contact chain from there.Yes, there were people who did the original origin contacts. I am one of those people. In addition to this, I can not stand scanner missions. I try to do everything I can to avoid scanner missions. I was one of those players who was overjoyed by the introduction of turning off XP because that meant I could do each and every contacts' mission in the order I met the contacts.
I wish there was a way of avoiding scanner missions now that the new (to me) introductory contacts have "gaps" in their story arcs.
I haven't tested David Wincott to see if he will introduce you to any of the other level 5-10 contacts outside of The Hollows, but it is possible that you will get those from him as well.
If you are at least Level 5, use the Find Contacts button to get David Wincott added and you can use the Teleport to Contact feature from there to go right to him with no travel time. -
To add to what Woeful Knight has said, if the Inspiration Collector is bugged in that it won't let you remove anything then only Support can help you with that. I'd recommend filing a /petition in game to get a GM to assist you with it. If necessary, ask that it be escalated to a senior GM if the initial responses don't help you fix it. There is nothing that the players here can do to help you.
You may want to ask about the Inspiration Collector in the Base Construction section of the forums. Someone there may have run into this and know a way around it. -

Some OEM video drivers have crippled OpenGL support or lack OpenGL support at all.
If they updated the drivers from the manufacturer's website and are still getting this message it is likely that those drivers don't have full OpenGL support in them.
They may be able to get the drivers from the ATI, nVidia or Intel site, depending on what video card it is. -

Quote:It is unlocking ACCESS to the standard auras. It doesn't unlock purchasable auras. Purchasable auras are accessible at level 1 but you must Purchase them.Another note: it only unlocks the "standard auras" at level one (the ones you get access to if you do the level 30 mission). The Auras that came from previous super boosters and the new volcanic aura do not get unlocked.
If you have purchased them, they should be able to be used. I'm able to use the Combat Aura that was came with the Cyborg Booster as well as the Alpha and Omega auras that came with GR:Complete Collection and the new Path auras.
The Origins pack and Steampunk pack were the only other Packs that had auras included. Those should be available at Character creation but I can't test it since I didn't purchase those packs.
I do know that on Test I have access to the Clunker aura at Character creation.
