Andy, thanks for all you did for the players, the game and the community. It was a real pleasure having you around.
It was even more of a pleasure getting to meet you and talk to you. I'll never forget crashing the Private Meal the night before the first Pummit. You took it right in stride and Pepsiman captured the moment.
Thanks for putting up with all of my intentional incorrect spellings of your name. I had started off with just random letters, but it got to be more fun trying to make up a name that fit what I thought about you in the context of the moment.
So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
ZWILLINGER -
I wondered about Castle for a long time, but never got confirmation that he played on Justice until now.
With BAB, he dropped enough clues that I started piecing things together then stumbled across a Credits list for Auto Assault that told me for certain that he was indeed Tic-Toc. I had already put together comments he'd made before getting hired and some comments about teaming with so many on the Justice server, but I got the final confirmation then. I did my best to help keep his secret and I'm sure I kept Ex Libris and Niviene hopping in reporting posts that were trying to leak his identity.
As I said in the title to another thread, you people are my family. Even the ones I don't always get along with or never get along with.
I'll miss you all. -
Yes, I consider the players on Justice my family, even the ones that I didn't always get along with.
You people have meant so much to me over the years and have been with me through some pretty tough changes in my life.
When it was in the early days of the game and reading about Team Awesome while I was at work, LaserJudas dropping from the ceiling to snap someone's neck Steven Seagal style, Kadmon crashing spaceships, Amrien Talfrey's art, Katfood's amazing art collection, or just laughing hysterically at the Dupin' Rares thread.
In later years getting more active on the forums, starting to try to be a more social person, getting to meet some of the players in person at the Austin NCSoft events for Auto Assault and Tabula Rasa, meeting even more of the players at the Bay Area M&G's, the HeroCon's, or the Pummits.
You folks helped me mourn and get through the loss of my dad who was also my best friend. If it hadn't been for the support from the Justice players, the words of encouragement and camaraderie things would likely have taken a much darker turn in my life.
When I behaved like a total ****** at HeroCon after getting blitzed on Jager, my Justice friends and family again took care of me. Most of you didn't judge me because you saw through some of the facade and the role I was trying to play. It turns out I didn't need to try to play that role to be liked by you, but I was too insecure to realize it. Thank you for taking care of me that night and since then. Thank you for standing up for me and letting people know that wasn't the real me, just someone over-compensating for perceived shortcomings.
Thank you for being there for me through life's ups and downs. I have a feeling this will be the end of my gaming. I played one other MMO for the first free month and didn't care for it. I played another MMO after it went F2P and didn't like it at all. But CoH held me here for over 8 years and a big part of that is due to the Justice players.
I want to thank you all for being such an important part of my life for over 8 years.
In closing, I'm going to paste a piece that I wrote for my blog a few years ago.

Why do I play this game?
I intended to post this back in October, but things stayed busy so I kept putting it off. After my trip to California in November I had other things I wanted to say but felt this needed to be said first and it's been easy to just keep putting it off. Now I'm ready to talk about some other things, but this has to be done first, so here it goes.
----------------------------------------------
“Anyone that pays a monthly fee to play a computer game needs to have their head examined.”
“I’ll never play a game that charges a monthly fee in addition to the cost of the game itself.”
Yes, I made both of those statements at various times sometime during 2002 and possibly during 2003. And I meant them. I had friends and coworkers playing various online games and I thought they were wasting money paying a monthly fee to be able to play a game they had already paid for. I had little to no interest in any of the games they were playing, mostly because the genres of the game held little interest for me aside from some books I’d read. A very casual interest at that.
Then I heard about a game being designed that was based on superheroes. My interest was piqued but I still didn’t think any game would be worth paying a monthly fee to be able to play. I followed along on the original forums for City of Heroes, watched the initial E3 2002 gameplay demo, discussed the game on the forums with others looking forward to the game and with Jack “Statesman” Emmert himself. I was already a forum member when “Aura Manning” was hired as our first Community Rep. I read the announcement of the delay in releasing the game as they redesigned it and wondered if this would be the next vaporware. But I was still intrigued as I’d grown up reading comics, and still read them at times, so superheroes definitely piqued my interest.
I kept up with the development of the game, although not much new information was being released. I watched the 2003 E3 cinematic trailer and my interest rose higher as 2003 progressed and the game seemed like it was actually going to be released. Toward the end of the year things got really quiet as the game prepared to enter Beta testing. I wasn’t really expecting to be able to Beta test the game and thought I’d have to wait until the game was released to be able to try it. Imagine my surprise at getting an email inviting me to help Beta test this game. Not only was I getting to Beta test it, I got into Beta before a co-worker that had previous Beta testing experience. He got in within a month, but it was nice to be able to be the one that could show HIM around inside a game for once.
I met some really good people during that Beta, some that continued to play after release and some that were only playing until the end of Beta. I was hooked on the game and gladly signed up and paid for a one year subscription. I justified it by the savings over a monthly or even 3 month subscription. According to my earlier statements, I needed to have my head examined, but I just saw how much fun I was having playing this game. The first time I activated Fly, I soared around for about a half hour, just enjoying the feeling of flying. I was thoroughly hooked on the game.
My buddy Art and I spent the first morning of the 3 day headstart quickly leveling up our mains to get to the level to create a SuperGroup. I still have that group to this day and now all of my characters are members of the South Texas Knights. Art and I soon joined up with some other players we had teamed with at times during the Beta and moved most of our characters to their SuperGroup named The Legends of Texas. I kept a couple of my players in my main SG and Art had one or two there as well, but mostly we played with the new SG which was soon renamed to The Legends of Paragon. We talked a few coworkers into getting the game and one stayed with us for quite a while. Marty, Art and I teamed regularly although the other 2 quickly went to WoW when it launched in November. The three of us teamed as a trio and in larger groups with The Six Dollar Man, Spoon and other members of The Legends of Paragon. Eventually, most of the original members left and the group withered.
I soloed for a while but occasionally teamed up with members of various SG’s. I teamed a few times with members of the Police Drones and had a lot of fun. That was my first introduction to a real RP group. The only time they ever said anything out of character was through tells to let me know what was going on. I enjoyed teaming at times but preferred to solo for various reasons. Then one day I teamed with some of the members of The Magnus Institute. I enjoyed playing with Shrapnel, Cybored and the other members of the group so gladly accepted the invitation to join the SG when they offered. Sadly, it wasn’t long before they too went off to other games, mostly WoW, and I was one of the few that ever logged in.
I decided to stay solo for a while but ran across other players that I teamed with a few times. Some I recognized from the forums and some I recognized the SG name from the forums but not the character names. I teamed with Major Decoy, Doctor Why and Pippy one afternoon and had a really good time. All were members of The Core, which I’d seen in the signatures of several people on the forums. I started looking for members of this SG when I was online and eventually got in contact with TheDeepBlue about joining the group. After teaming with DB and Platinum Arsenal for a while, they invited me to join so I found a new home for a while. When CoV came out, I joined The Ring as it was the villain-side equivalent to The Core. Sadly, members kept disappearing or not playing their Core or Ring characters much and I eventually decided to just leave the group entirely before it died like the previous groups. With a little help I got all of my characters into the South Texas Knights SG I’d formed during the 3 day head start and I’ve decided to just stay as a solo group for the duration of my playtime.
As to why I prefer to play solo instead of teaming, well, that’s a story for another day.

So long, take care, and know that you will always be family to me.

Oh man. I didn't get to interact much with you when I saw you at the Pummit, but I'd have never guessed who you were.
Glad you got to live the dream so many of us have had of getting to work on this fabulous game.
----------------------------------------
The only other one I know the identity of that was still working there would be Alpha Wolf.
And much like knowing Tic-Toc was BAB, it is not my place to reveal that identity. -
No worries Rangle, they will be putting an end to base rent Soon™.
-
Don't worry, there will be a huge name wipe coming Soon™.
-
The CoH Twitter account has posted the link to it. Posi made a tweet saying "Farewell Paragon Studios and CoH".
It's been a wonderful ride for over 8 years.
I'm sad to see it come to an end. -
I just applied a code from the first list within the last half hour or so.
Still codes left. -
-
Quote:I applied it to my Premium account without any problems.I can't figure out where to apply this. If I go to my NC Soft account management, the Apply Serial Code thinks I'm trying to start a new account or something. It says "The serial code is valid, but can't be used to start a new account."
VIP only?
Edit:
Hmm looks like it might be:
Used 34RX-Z64Y-BC78-JAWT-2MQL from the first list posted. Just scrolled down about 2/3 of the list or so, copied, pasted into Apply Serial Code box and got it on the first try. -

I've heard that if you ask CS nicely they "might" be willing to rename it once if they aren't too busy.
But that was hearing from someone that heard it from someone that thought they might have seen a redname comment about it somewhere that I've never found.
So take that as you will. -
Quote:You are partially correct here. Someone's memory is faulty in this thread and a rumor is being started. If store bought enhancements could be converted, it would most likely have been a bug that was fixed quickly. I never heard anything like that before until now. Sounds like someone's memory is faulty in this thread and a rumor is being started.
Time to end this discussion. Store bought enhancements never have been, and currently can't be, converted. Period.
It it YOUR memory that is faulty, so please stop starting rumors such as "Store bought enhancements never have been, and currently can't be, converted. They HAVE been able to be converted in the past.
They may not be able to be converted now, and that may be due to a change due to someone having the same thought process you used. However, without having seen a patch note saying this was intentionally changed, that seems to be a bug.
People tested these when they were on Beta. They could be converted. When they first went Live they could be converted. Zombie Man gives a direct statement about his testing. Others tested it as well. I successfully converted SBE's after first seeing reports of being able to do so in Beta.
Just because YOU weren't in Beta and didn't test it and didn't test it yourself when it went Live doesn't mean that it never worked.
Quote:Oh, no, it did happen. I tested it myself and it's enshrined in the Wiki: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Converter
At one time, SBEs were incontrovertibly convertible.
The first I heard of a lock on conversion for any Enhancement Set was the Overwhelming Force Set. -
You've generated them on Live however. If you copy over a character from Live it "should" update your tokens, or at least it did on my account a few months ago.
-
It will come out when they have it on the schedule to come out.
They don't tell us their schedule very far in advance.
I do know it will be about a week after they tell us when it's coming out. -
Quote:Your paraphrase is not accurate. Before Freedom, your subscription did NOT cover everything the devs put out.
What is a slap in the face is that the very same subscription fee was just fine for game play for a VERY LONG TIME. Freedom comes along and all of a sudden, it's no longer enough. A blatant statement was made by the devs which I will paraphrase here. "We once got $15 a month from you, and that covered everything we put out. Now, however....we want a $15 sub and extra for you to get everything we put out."
If you did not purchase the CoH Collector's Edition or the Hero Gear kit you did not get access to the Prestige Power Slide, the Cape of the Four Winds or the VIP badge.
When CoV was released, if you already had CoH but did not purchase CoV you had no access to bases, villain AT's, villain zones, villain missions and you only had the base 8 slots per server. Similarly, if you bought CoV but did not purchase CoH you had no access to bases, hero AT's, hero zones, hero missions and you only had the base 8 slots per server. Purchasing BOTH games gave you access to bases and added 4 character slots per server.
If you did not purchase the CoV Collector's Edition you did not get the exclusive Arachnos Chest Symbol or Arachnos Cape Symbol.
If you did not purchase the Good vs Evil Edition (or the GvE Pack from the NCSoft store) you did not get access to the Jump Pack power, the Justice costume set, the Sinister costume set, the Pocket D VIP Pass Teleport Power or the Pocket D VIP Club Gold Member badge.
Then they released the Wedding pack and started offering Super Boosters. If you did not purchase these, you had no access to the costume parts, auras, emotes and powers that were included.
If you did not purchase the Mac Special edition (or the Mac Pack/Valkyrie Pack from the NCSoft Store) you did not get access to the Mission Transporter or the Valkyrie costume set.
When Going Rogue was released, if you did not purchase Going Rogue then you did not have access to Praetoria, the Alignment system, Dual Pistols, Kinetic Melee, Electric Control or Demon Summoning powersets, the Going Rogue costume sets or the GR content that was not part of Issue 18. Also, if you did not purchase Going Rogue you did not have access to Incarnate content that was released prior to Freedom (Incarnate Access was not included with GR, but purchase of GR was a prerequisite for being able to access Incarnate content).
Then their was the Party Pack, the Animal Pack, the Origins Pack and the Steampunk Pack. If you didn't purchase them you got no access to the emotes, auras, costume parts or powers they contained.
That's quite a few things that were not included with the subscription cost before Freedom.
So no, your $15/month did not cover everything the devs put out.
Yes, I clipped something out of your post (an entire paragraph so no context was lost) and pointed out a fallacious and erroneous statement you made, but there was no judgmental tone to my post. It was merely pointing out the errors and fallacies in your paraphrase of the Devs comments. -
-
They have also given these away during appearances in Pocket D.
I'm not certain but I think some were given away at a con or M&G that one of the Devs or OCR staff attended. -
Not only does he have the power from Zeus that Statesman had (RIP), but he also has the power from Tartarus that Lord Recluse has.
He killed his world's Stephan Richter at the Well of the Furies and gained the powers of both Zeus and Tartarus.
Other than that:

Quote:Yeah. A source that can't be bothered to get their facts correct.
Quote:
City of Heroes and Lord of the Rings Online haven't required a monthly charge in several years.
CoH: Freedom launched September 7, 2011 and that's somehow several years?
Not to mention the whole "limited gameplay" if you aren't paying a subscription.
When they can't get easily checked facts straight (facts that they are using to try to use as the basis of their premise), the entire article is questionable.
This is one of the many reasons I quit paying attention to sites such as kotaku long ago. -
Quote:Asking for a red name response has never been against the forum rules.
Also, asking for a red name response is against Forum Rules.
Demanding such responses is what has been against the rules.
There is a big difference between asking and demanding. I'm not sure where Expecting (the term the OP used) would fall but I doubt it would be in the demanding area.
Quote:
If you ask a question on the board, be aware that questions on our boards are most commonly answered by the community. Demands for answers from NCsoft are not permitted, however we may often address some questions and concerns with an official topic.
IF by some miracle they decided to do this I highly doubt that the cost would be as low as 60 Rep. -
Quote:Actually, it could be an early annual one.I am at 4 year 10 month paid time there is still two month for my annual and since I canceled my subs earlier 10 sept will be last day for my vip days so it can't be an early annual one either.
There have been inconsistencies as to when people have received some rewards, dating back to before the introduction of Freedom.
I know of players that had been awarded Veterans Rewards long before they should have received them, annual awards before they should have received them and even annual character slots awarded before they should have received them.
I've seen reports of players paying a monthly sub receiving annual badges (after the release of Freedom) 2 months early. I've seen reports of players paying a monthly sub receiving the extra annual token early.
It's quite possible that this is why you are seeing an extra token.
