  1. File a /bug report. Note in the report that it didn't do this previously as far as you can remember.

You may even want to send a PM to Arbiter Warrant about this thread. *waves*

-_- I could probably do better than this. And I'm a fairly basic/intermediate web designer.
I'd find it hard for you to do a worse job than what they are currently doing.

    What's going on!

I'll clarify what I meant about not making commitments on rides this time.

I'm arriving in San Jose shortly before 11 AM. If your flight is coming in no later than 11:30 AM feel free to ask for a ride. Be aware that my lunch plans are firm and I'm headed directly from the airport to the Stanford Shopping Center so that I can find a place to park, get my Fred's Steak sandwich from Schaub's and eat it in outside so I can enjoy the scenery (plants and women). Since most hotels won't do early check-ins (we know Dinah's Garden didn't allow it until 3 PM) I'm not in a rush to get to the hotel.

If there is a group of us going somewhere and I have room in my vehicle, feel free to ask for a ride, especially if it is for a meal outing.

If you need to go somewhere specific and I'm not otherwise engaged at the time, feel free to ask and I'll most likely be willing to give you the ride.

What I'm not going to do is commit to pickups and dropoffs at the airport at various times because I'm sure I'm going to get confused on what I've agreed to or who I've agreed to give rides. I've gotten too old and my memory has too many holes in it for me to keep things straight anymore.

NCSoft Seattle HQ Web Services needs to get their act together.
This is a really funny one as well if you read the announcement about the forum maintenance.

This maintenance will set VIP players' forum names to gold by default, and address other miscellaneous issues.

Thank you for your patience during this downtime.
I enlarged the part I find particularly funny. I look at my name and I see it still white. I see other VIP's names in white. A few are goldenrod, but most are white.

Of course, based on the Web Services team's past track record, I think that last sentence should have been worded as follows:

This maintenance will attempt to set VIP players' forum names to goldenrod by default, and will create other miscellaneous issues.

Once again, the Web Services team has stuck to their usual standard results.

  5. It could be the driver version. I've not seen enough reports about the 12.1 drivers to know if people are having problems with them and CoH.

The last one I've heard across the board good reports on are the 11.9 drivers. I'm still running those and not having any issues with the game.

You can download the 11.9 drivers for Windows XP from ATI's site using this link.
You can download Driver Sweeper from MajorGeeks using this link.

Once you have downloaded both of those, follow the instructions in the post Tex made above.

The problem is that if I go ahead and book it using the method TonyV listed in his response (booking at least two weeks prior and prepaying) since we don't have a group rate code, that 0.0001% chance would happen and the venue would change.

I have my flight and rental car booked, but I refuse to book my hotel until you have a contract and are able to give us a group rate code.

BTW, for anyone looking at rental cars, go through Hotwire. At the last Pummit I had a full-size car from Hertz for $17.95/day and this trip I'll have a full-size car from Alamo for $14.95/day. Looking at the rates I got through either the rental agency, the airline (packaging with my flight and using one of their reward partners) or from other conglomerate travel sites I'm going to be saving between $25.00/day and $35.00/day on the car alone. That's a very good savings over any other method I looked at, including the www.carrentals.com site.

The rates have fluctuated for the past few weeks between $14.95/day and $18.95/day on Hotwire, so just keep checking to see when you get the lower rate. I've seen it change rates several times in the same day.

I'm likely not going to make any commitments on rides this time since I think I got my schedules fouled up last time and missed giving someone a ride that I had committed to.

I've gotten it scheduled so that I'll be arriving just before 11 AM on Friday and I'm not leaving until after 6 PM Sunday evening, so I'll have a bit of extra time Sunday.

I'm already planning a Schaub's run Friday for lunch, and will definitely be doing another Holder's Country Inn run for Bacon Waffles either Saturday or Sunday breakfast. Other than that I'm waiting for Red Gren to find my Friday night Justice dinner venue.

Of course I'm mostly waiting for Zwimamacusernow to give the details for 100% nailed down venue, karaoke information, the Saturday schedule including the Saturday evening meal, etc.

Hopefully, the Saturday evening meal will include a real beef offering instead of the "beef" meal we got last time that had everyone at our table wishing they'd ordered the chicken. Well, Black Pebble may not have wished he'd ordered the chicken, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't what he expected it to be.

I haven't checked any of the building heights, but I haven't noticed any changes to the buildings.

Aside from the obvious fact that I can see them from a distance now.
  8. It is much like when they added the requirement to the SSA Rewards that you had to have re-affirmed your alignment before being able to select the Alignment Merit. Even characters that had never changed alignment had to run an alignment mission first. I've been told by some that they had run several Alignment missions shortly before that change was introduded and that they had to run another after the change in order to get the Alignment Merit as a reward option.

    Same basic principle.

First, thank you for all the help.

I confess that I was not totally sastified with the answer I received. So, I sent my question to Support, and here is what I heard back.

As I suspected there is indeed a link shown at the left of the NCLauncher window that is titled "COH Subscriber Beta". The folks at Support inform me that I must Update that to gain access to the VIP Test server.

Once updated, the "COH Subscriber Beta" header will move from the "Not Installed" section to the "Installed" section. I will then be able to access the VIP Test server.

Otherwise, the "City of Heroes Test" link takes everyone to an environment that allows testing of all aspects of the game as they are persently operating in Live.

To access upcoming content, you must be a VIP subscriber and use the "COH Subscriber Beta" link.

It is not necessary to create shortcuts on your Desktop: although that may work perfectly well.

    Stormistress
Creating those shortcuts and using them will actually do the same thing that using the link to Update the (not installed) CoH Subscriber Beta would do. It will install the CoH Subscriber Beta client and move that link from the Not Installed section to the Installed section.

Since your previous post didn't mention you seeing Beta in the Not Installed section and your post actually said you didn't see it listed in the Launcher window it is very likely that Aggelakis' instructions were based on it either not being there or you not seeing it at all.
  10. Yes. You should file a /bug report in game.

A gun being cocked is a given.
  12. I've seen something similar recently having to do with those power picks.

File a /petition while you are in the game on that character. There is a slash command that support can give you that will allow you to access the missing option.

Someone had quoted a response they got from support that included the command but I didn't get it written down before the post was removed. When you get the command, please tell us here what that command is but don't quote the response you get (since that is a violation of the forum rules and will get it removed as the previous post was removed).

If the initial responder isn't able to give you the command or doesn't seem to understand, politely ask that it be escalate to a Senior Support person.

Not at all. I disagreed with your assessment of Dell, based on my own personal experience and the experiences of people I know. It had nothing to do with my opinion of you.

And mine was based on me knowing quite a bit about computers, mostly since I make my living as a computer tech. You admitted in your own post that you know very little of computers.

My opinion of the Alienware being overpriced had nothing at all to do with it being owned by Dell since I had that opinion long before Dell bought them.

Those were points I already made in the previous post.

I didn't realize your reading comprehension was poor enough that I'd have to make the same points again for you.

Maybe this time you'll understand the points being made.

Do NOT buy that from DELL

DELL specifically is one of the worst places to go for a high performance RIG. You are spending a good deal on the comp. Do not waste the money buying from some company know for substandard gaming rigs. GL.
    Horse hockey.

I've bought several systems from Dell over the years that were designed for gaming and not had any problems with them. I've bought systems from Dell not designed for gaming but made with quality parts that gamed very well and had no problems.

I have a few friends that have also bought gaming and non-gaming systems from Dell with no problems.

Pricewise, the "gaming" models were competitive with other "gaming" rigs from various manufacturer's.

Of course, since I work as a computer technician, I also know how to keep my system maintained properly which may be one of the reasons I have different experiences than others. But my friends aren't techs, so that can't be the only reason.

That being said, I wouldn't recommend an Alienware system. Even before being bought out by Dell they were over-priced and you got less bang for the buck than several other gaming systems available.

Most of what you are paying for is the name, and that isn't worth the higher price you'll pay for it.
  18. I had no trouble logging into my account.
  19. I pretty much fall in with the same thought process as Tony on this.

My limits of artistic abilities mostly fall in musical areas.

I can't draw a straight line with a T-Square. True story, I only passed my one drafting class in college because the instructor saw the effort I was putting in to "try" to get the assignments on paper, even though I should have failed. He knew I could visualize it in my head but just couldn't get it on paper.

The closest I've come to any cosplay was appearing as a total [self-censored] [self-censored] during and after the Saturday night dinner at the first HeroCon. Those that were not around me that evening were fortunate indeed. I'm still trying to repair some of the fallout from that night over 3 years later. I'm fortunate that several of those that were around me that night knew me well enough to know it was not my normal behavior and helped get me out of the area before I got myself into trouble that would have required a trip downtown. They also helped try to let people know it was out of character for me and I'm very lucky that they call me a friend.

Okay, I have one other thing that's close to cosplay. I had some shirts made with the colors and logo that almost all of my characters wear. BAB was kind enough to whip up a quick image for me in Photoshop and I've had a few shirts made with that logo. It's really the only logo I use for any characters. A tiny handful of characters (2 or 2) have no logo at all. I do wear those shirts at least once during the event, so you'll likely see one if you are at the Pummit.

The OP appears to be VIP (I have the option to send a Private Message to them) so that shouldn't be a factor.
  21. I haven't heard whether or not Liquid and Fatare are going, but Fatare has come in costume at the first HeroCon (I don't recall seeing her in costume at the second HeroCon, but I could have just missed seeing it) and the first Pummit.

A few others did a bit of costuming at the Pummit so I'd say it's a safe bet that there will be "some" cosplay involved, but not nearly as much as some other venues such as SDCC.

Now, if they hold a costume contest as they did at the previous HeroCon events, you might get a few more people coming in costume for that portion alone which has generally been during the Saturday evening meal or after.

The Mayhems are still some of the best solo content the game has; I remember leveling one character almost all the way from 5 to 50 doing nothing but stealthing newspapers so I could grind mayhems, and they're still fun even after doing that. When I went back to playing heros occasionally, I catch myself grinning when I find myself in a neighborhood whose layout I know only because it was featured in a mayhem mission. So it distresses me to know that they're so funkily implemented and so poorly documented that you're afraid to touch them.
As Xzero45 said, there are plenty of Tsoo in Steel Canyon.

Along with the ones near Icon that was mentioned earlier, there are also a fair amount along the Southeast portion of the map from around the Hospital and Magic store up to the Northeast portion all the way to the Brickstown entrance.

If you aren't finding Tsoo in Steel Canyon, you aren't trying.

EDIT: Bah, directions were off. Southwest and Northwest were what I meant to say, not Southeast and Northeast. That's what I get for posting while trying to leave for supper. Too distracted to get the directions right. Then again, this is coming from the person that routinely gets lost with a GPS.

That seems rather odd as we were told we would have to fill all of a Tier before being able to select anything in the next Tier.

I wonder if they made this change after making the pets mutually exclusive to each other (can only have one out at a time). If so, it wasn't announced.

I haven't heard anything about who the Karaoke DJ will be this time, but if it's the same one they had last time I think you likely won't need to bring your own.

She had it all on digital equipment and had a really nice collection of songs as well. I was extremely surprised when I asked what Johnny Cash songs she had and she pulled it up on screen and had to scroll to get to the rest of the songs. There were some rather obscure Cash songs in the list, so I know it wasn't just a Best Of type list. From what I saw of other artists listed she had a wide ranging collection.

I'm hoping Zwinkeldipsydoo will let us know who will be doing the Karaoke DJ services so I can contact them about some specific questions I have. It would also allow you to find out if they have the songs you are looking for and if they'll let you bring your own (if they are compatible with their system).

    Experience Bug?

There are also a few items in the market that can grant an XP boost as well. If you had been under the influence of an XP boost and it wore off, the XP would go down.
