    Can you give some system information? What OS, what service packs for the OS, 32 or 64 bit version of the OS, amount of memory, installation location for launcher and game, using the Run as Administrator option if in Win7 or WinVista, is the account an administrator account or limited account, color and type of undergarments (oops, nevermind, that's just my normal DOM curiousity ), anything else you think might be relevant about your system or internet connection.

    Or you could follow the instructions in Hyperstrike's [Guide] Asking for technical help on the forums thread to save many of the questions.

    Either way, San Diego or Las Vegas is much too long of a drive for me to make a breakfast run when I'm in the Bay Area. Even worse when I'm home in Texas.

  3. For those having lag issues, we need more information to be able to help narrow down your problems (and Paragon Studios and NCSoft will as well).

    There is very little in your posts to start trying to troubleshoot, so I'll start with the basic information that would be helpful.

    First, start with the instructions in Hyperstrike's [Guide] Asking for technical help on the forums thread. Be sure to paste the results from CoH Helper, HiJackThis and pathping into your posts.

    Also, include some information about your connection. Is it Cable, DSL, FiOSSatellite, Dial-Up (yes, there are several still stuck on dial-up) or some other type of connection. If you know your bandwidth speeds that would be helpful (for example, is it a 1.5 Mb Cable connection, a 3 Mb Cable connection, 6 Mb Cable connection, etc.). Are you connecting with a wired ethernet connection, a usb connection or a wireless connection. Are you connecting directly to a modem, through a router or a combination modem/router (often called a gateway).

    Include information about what is going on when you have these problems. Is it solo, teamed, in a league, running regular missions, in a mission map, in the outside world, in a TF/SF, in a Trial, in an iTrial, etc.

    The more information you can give the better it will be for those trying to help you.

    Also, be sure to file a support ticket with NCSoft. If you don't, they don't know that you are having trouble and can't look to see if it's a problem in any of their equipment.

    I'd recommend filing the ticket by going to the https://support.cityofheroes.com site, logging in to your support account (separate account from the Master account or game account although they can use the same username and password, create a support account if you don't have one) and use the Ask A Question tab to file a support ticket.

    Give as much information as you can using the questions I asked as a guideline. The more information that is relevant to your connection, when you are having the problems, how many teammates, what maps, etc, the better for them to help diagnose the issues. Run any and all tests that they ask you to run, even if they seem useless to you.

    Those in PST that are involved in the update process (Mountain View, CA and Seattle, WA) are having to come in to work extra early.

    Similarly, those involved in the process living in CST (Austin, TX) are likely having to come in early as well in order to start a patching process at 6AM.

    The first thing I would try is to run a Repair from the launcher.

    If that does not resolve the problem, I would delete the file and run a Repair from the launcher.

    Red_Gren is the real foodie and makes the meal plans for the Justice people.

    I'm just one of the limiting factors in his decision making.

    He's the one that took me to Schaub's and introduced me to the delights of the Fred's Steak Sandwich.

    He's the one that took me to Holder's Country Inn and introduced me to their heavenly Bacon Waffles.

    He's (unfortunately) the one that has convinced me to try other establishments attempts at making a Bacon Waffle (none come anywhere close to Holder's, some are barely Waffles or barely contain Bacon).
  9. First off, welcome back.

    Secondly, what is this Deluxe code and where did you get it? The more specific the information you give the better it will be for those attempting to help you.

    With a retail box code, you should be able to log into your account on the NCSoft site, click on the Use a Serial Code link, enter the code in the box and follow the onscreen prompts.. It may ask which account to apply it to or it may tell you that the code is not valid for that account type. For example, there is a difference between EU codes and US codes. EU codes cannot be applied to a US account, and a US code cannot be applied to an EU account.

    You can also try logging in to your account on the NSCoft site, click on Game Accounts, select your account name and then click the Redeem Code link on the right side of the screen. Enter the serial code and follow the onscreen instructions. Again, the code must be the correct type of code for the account you are applying it to.

    If this is a code from a VIP Starter Pack, that cannot be applied to an existing account. It can only be applied to a brand new account.

    Filing a /bug report would be more helpful than a /petition. They go to two different groups.

    The /bug reports go to QA and the /petition reports go to CS.

    CS can then file it as a bug, but it takes time away from CS being able to help people with problems they can actually help with.

  12. There is at least one character bound item in the pack (Catalyst) but that's only for when you Claim them, not when you open the packs.

    As others said, it doesn't matter who opens the packs.

  18. He's in Marketing. He's not the one that makes all of the Marketing decisions. Sometimes, Marketing people propose an idea that those above them shoot down. It was happening with this game long before Black Pebble was hired. Marketing in the game industry is often a bit different from what players think it is supposed to be or what it might be in a different industry.

    There are some things that have been changed for the better for players based partially on Black Pebble's input. He's had several open conversations with players in Beta soliciting feedback about things he saw being discussed in global channels and taken that input back to the rest of the Devs. Some of it has resulted in things being changed for the better.

    As for the line in my signature, well, that goes back over a year. One of these days I'll put up the information behind it and that link will be a clickable link. Then it will be clearer for you.

    Again, you don't know what his job is, you merely think you know.

    That's not Marketing, that's the Business Manager. Ghost Falcon is the one tracking the Market, watching and adjusting prices, putting up the sales, etc. Sure, Marketing has input on it, as do many others, but they don't strictly control pricing or what items are available. I don't think Ghost Falcon has strict control of it either, but from reading his posts it's rather clear that he is the one handling much of the Paragon Market.

    Again, Black Pebble doesn't get final say in making Marketing decisions. Considering the past history before he was hired, Marketing decisions haven't changed much in this game from what they are now. So are you blaming him for the same decisions that were made before he was hired?

    Your blame is misdirected.

    And yet, Black Pebble sits back and silently lets people rant and blame him for things he isn't the one responsible for. He does that regularly.

    Check the first post for the hotel phone number. When you call be sure to tell them that the group is the City of Heroes Player Summit. That will get you the group rate. The Garden Room (1 Bed) is $99/night and the Deluxe Room (either 1 Bed or 2 Beds version) is $109/night.

    One thing that he does is take the blame heaped on him by people that don't know what he actually does and he takes that blame without complaint.

    He does so even when it is something he had no input on or something where the final outcome was not based on his input.

    Just to clarify something here.

    Since he has applied the GR code to his account he is now a VIP.

    If/when he reverts back to Premium, he'll still be able to hold the excess inf, but won't be able to earn any until he gets below his cap.
