Sorry, that's not correct. It's 1 per 12 months of paid subscription time. These were the slots we earned through Veteran's Rewards. I think your confusion may have come from Second Measure's example in his OP. The example was "if you have been a subscriber for 3 years". Or the late hours.

See the bolded part of the quote below:

Free players get two Global Character Slot Tokens; they can use these tokens to unlock two slots *total* on any server(s) they wish except the VIP server (not two per server). Premium players/former VIP players will have all of their character slots locked, then will get the same two free Global Character Slot Tokens, of course, plus one Global Character Slot Token for every twelve months they have been subscribed to City of Heroes (these were formerly awarded by the Veteran Rewards program). In addition, if someone purchased Going Rogue before the launch of City of Heroes Freedom, they will get two free Global Character Slot Tokens to represent the two free character slots that came with Going Rogue. Plus, as a Premium player you will get Global Character Slot Tokens in exchange for any and all character slots you have purchased in addition to these.
You will then be able to use these tokens to unlock existing characters or empty slots where you can make new characters.

So for example, if you have been a subscriber for three years, purchased Going Rogue, never bought a single extra character slot, and choose to stop paying your subscription, you will have:
    • Two Global Character Slot Tokens free to any non-VIP player
    • Plus three Global Character Slot Tokens for three years of subscription
    • Plus two Global Character Slot Tokens from Going Rogue
    • For a total of seven Global Character Slot Tokens
In addition, as a non-VIP player you will be able to purchase more character slots from the in-game store for your account.

You will retain all of these slots for your account, no matter how many times your VIP status changes back and forth between VIP and Premium.

Of course, if you are a VIP, you will get twelve free slots on every server, instead of two slots total. Plus you will get one free Global Character Slot Token per twelve months of subscription time, any slots you have purchased, and if you have purchased Going Rogue prior to the launch of City of Heroes Freedom, you will also get the two free slots that came with Going Rogue. (After the launch of Freedom, Going Rogue will no longer come with these two free slots.)
    EDIT: Ninja'd

From what I am understanding, I will at least be able to play two toons (except MM's, right?) on each server while I am free to play. I can unlock my other toons with earned PP. Ok, now, my concern is only this - I won't lose any of my created characters? I mean, they might be locked but none of them will disappear, right?
That is what we've been told so far. And if you find that you can resubscribe, you can again play those characters.

EDIT: Oops, missed seeing that "on each server" part. As Chad points out in the next post, it's 2 slots total, not per server. Plus any purchased Plus any earned through Veterans Rewards (1 per 12 months subscribed time) Plus 2 if you already own GR.

    2. Does that value pay for the same amount of time?

    3. Is that time consecutive?

    4. Are you authorized to answer questions about subscriptions?

    5. Are you authorized to answer questions about what you are authorized to answer?

    6. Will we be charged a transaction fee for processing our subscription?

    7. Will the game client have a completely different usage fee?

    8. Will the game add a completely different additional charge to access resources otherwise required to log into the game?

    9. In all cases where the devs refer to "VIP status" is the VIP acronym referring to the same program, or are there multiple VIP programs all referred to by the same initials?

    10. Have the devs placed superseding information in a location the playerbase has not yet discovered?

    11. Is the subscription fee set by a completely separate entity other than Paragon Studios or NCSoft that is not required to honor the intentions of the developers or producers, making your answers void?

    12. Are you, currently, someone who believes themselves to be Bizarro Zwillinger?

    13. Do you know of any plans to apply diminishing returns to our subscription, such that it will take $23.74 to equal $14.95?

    14. Have you verified that Positron, aka Matt Miller, has not been given access to the financial spreadsheets of the sales department?

    15. In Zwillingese, does the word "subscription" have the same meaning as in standard American English?

    16. Has Paragon Studios redefined "player" to require your mouse to subscribe separately from your keyboard?

    17. Will there be a penalty for paying in advance, and a separate penalty for paying late?

    18. Is this offer only valid in Canada?

    19. Do you plan on retroactively increasing the original subscription and charging customers the difference back to their original subscription date, making the subscription fee at Freedom release identical to the fee at launch?

    20. Did you put answering this set of questions on your timesheet, forcing Paragon Studios to increase subscription fees to fund the time spent?
Unfortunately, I don't think even answering these additional questions would be enough for some people.

  6. I do know that there are several former players that follow the FB posts. Since those players might have some questions (and some are likely to soon be either Premium or returning to VIP) it seems a decent venue to do something like this. Since they aren't currently subscribed, they can't post on the forums.

Of course, since I'm now off on Fridays I'll not have my work phone with me to get FB updates during the day and I have plans to be anywhere but in front of my computer on those days off.

So I'll wait for the reposts here as well.

    Since you mentioned price......

It's being argued elsewhere on the forums about whether or not the subscription price is going to go up.

Can you clear that up please?

These previous Veteran/Paid-For slots should be honored in some way, IMO.

Those are the four slots I'd like to be able to add to the ones Second Measure and others have said we'd be getting.

Those four slots were the main reason I bought CoV (the later GvE was for the completionist in me as well as the month of game time) as well as the free month of game time. Villains still don't interest me.

Since the additional slots were one of the selling points of CoV, and they've said we would keep anything we had purchased, I'd like to see those 4 added as well.

    MM zombie bug

When you level up, you are empowered with a large inspiration of each type, inlcuding one for health and one for endurance. Zombies, being already dead, can't abide that much life and energy. Hence, they die. Not a bug, WAI.

    Carry on.

*yes, the above is a humorous post, but you have to admit, it would make sense*

No one is limiting you to those two trials but YOU. There is still plenty of other content. I'm fairly sure they added it so that shards drop from normal content.

You already stated you have content you haven't finished on your first 50. Nothing is stopping you from finishing that content but YOU. Perhaps if you run some of that content you might get some of those shards you seem to want so badly.

I'm a bartender, so I often play during off hours, and often a larger team isn't an option. I also like to play support-based archetypes. Those two facts make solo-ers excellent teammates. You can predict that they'll already be self-sufficient, making my work in support easier. They are often in mission (rather than standing around waiting for others), allowing me to join them in the middle of the action.
I also find that many solo-ers appreciate a little back-up from time to time. It helps to break up the monotony of their missions, and allows them to overcome more challenging objectives. Much of my most enjoyable times playing CoH has been playing in support of someone who often plays alone.
I don't think you truly understand what a solo-er really is. Solo players don't team.

There are unteamed players, but that doesn't make them a solo player. It merely makes them an unteamed player.
  16. Set the Launcher to close after loading the game.

There is a known memory leak that affects PC's and I'd assume it's there on the Mac as well.

You may be able to get better information/responses if you post this in the Mac section of the forums.

I reinstalled 11.5 right before bed, but I'm guessing I'm going to have 11.4 back on there by the end of tonight.

At least I had the foresight to create a directory to house every iteration of the ATI drivers I've used since my last rebuild, so I don't have to go webcrawling for them...
No webcrawling is needed. Go to the ATI site and put in the card information and Operating System. Go to the current driver page. At the bottom of the page is a link for Previous drivers where it lists all of the previous drivers for that OS and Card combination with hotlinks to the download.

Second option. Go to the ATI site and click the Support and Drivers link. Click the link matching your OS and Card combination. Scroll to bottom of page and click the Previous drivers link. Pick your version and the download link is right there.

I do like nVidia's option when you go to their site. After selecting your country you can hover over the Download Drivers link to get a drop down menu and click the link for the Beta and Archived Drivers. Input card and OS info, optionally select whether you want only WHQL drivers or Beta drivers, Search, select driver from list and download link is right there.

It took me much longer to type the instructions for any of those steps than it did for me to get to the pages listing the previous driver versions. On my computers at work I have a file of hyperlinks that I use to take me directly to the previous drivers page for various card/OS combinations that we use.

EDIT: I'm not always at my desk at work, but I have a mapped network drive that I can get to from anywhere in the district. That's where I keep that file. It's faster to download them from the 'net than transfer them across the intranet at times due to switches being misconfigured or problems with the fiber optic cables between switches. We have critters that love sharpening their teeth on fiber apparently.

But not all Premium players will have purchased the box. There are downgrades to Premium (no longer paying subscription) and upgrades to Premium (purchased something with Paragon Points). The incentive Sermon mentioned was probably along the lines of "an incentive to get you to either subscribe or purchase the powersets with Paragon Points".

Since Beastyle and others have mentioned that it may depend on your Veteran Status as to whether you have unlocked access to those already, I feel safe in assuming that I already have (two days sub time missed since launch due to purchase being flagged as possible fraud due to billing server being on a foreign IP address).

I'd suspect the Veteran Reward status to be somewhere between 18 to 36 months in order for those to be unlocked, but that's pure supposition on my part. And we won't know for certain until they tell us explicitly. This is probably still under discussion for the exact time amount needed.

MSE isn't the only AV program that has had odd effects on the game. You don't need to switch AV programs, simply add an exception to the program for the game folder.

As for whether texassux, as you claimed in your last post, you had already stated in your first post that it wasn't anything running in the background on your computer and that you weren't posting any logs. You asked if anyone had heard of the problem and I replied that I had. I felt it useless to offer any more than that since you had already stated that what I knew to be the cause of the problem wasn't the cause of the problem. Since you'd also basically said you weren't going to help with troubleshooting, I felt there was no need for me to elaborate.

EDIT: Also, if you look at those links, I believe you'll find proof that I had heard of the problem before.
  20. Sounds like you need a new nosmoke.exe for that computer.
