Nope. Paragon removed the Incarnate introductory Alpha slot from Going Rogue. So buying Going Rogue did not give you access to any Incarnate abilities. That happened in the issue after Going Rogue came out.

Well the most recent episode of DW indicated that the timelords gained their special status by living near the time vortex. That over time they changed and gained what made them special. This is what makes Melody Pond the MacGuffin in the episode. Because she was conceived in the TARDIS she has some of the changes that the timelords display.

Its a decent fantasy series. Generally you can anticipate some of the things from the start but what makes it interesting is it's origin.

    Quote:
At a question and answer session at the 2009 DucKon in Naperville, Illinois, Jim Butcher explained that the origin of the Codex Alera series was a bet. In an online debate about which was more important, premise or execution, Jim Butcher argued that even a bad premise could be a great story if it was well-executed. One of his opponents bet that he could come up with an idea so bad no one could write a good story from it. Jim replied that he would let the other poster pick not one, but two bad ideas, and he would write a good story combining both of them. The two bad ideas the other poster gave him were The Lost Roman Legion and Pokémon. Jim Butcher came up with the basic premise of the Codex Alera series, but when he decided it was good enough to be published, he declined to post his work so far. His opponent reportedly took that as an attempt to save face after failing to write a good story; what he thinks now is unknown as no one remembers his identity.

No. They are keeping the entire Incarnate system as a shiny to dangle in front of players to get them to subscribe.

I'm holding out for my being in a later wave of the beta. Though if it really is only 4 - 6 weeks away from launch that would be nice.

I cried when I pulled up the board and couldn't see the beta forums.

Then I logged in and was sad that they still weren't there.

They try to cycle the list of who is in each beta, so you can be in everyone and then suddenly in none or not until the last couple of waves for several beta's. Basically its if Zwillinger hits your name on the list with the dart from across the room or not. ::shrug::

Thats it, I was in the 1st wave of the 1st 4 betas and since then have been in the last couple of waves and not in one. Others report similar situations. Basically they try not to have the same people in the full beta time after time after time.

Well to paraphrase something from the book ... The definition of dead is somewhat flexible and it is more of a process than an instantaneous thing....

Actually you can. If you prepay a year you will get your 4800 Paragon Points and your 12 Reward Tokens at the time you prepay for the year.

    Ghost Story

This is only the middle of the series. It is planned to go out to book 23 or so and end in a massive apocalyptic trilogy.

Never planned to end it at Changes that was almost the exact middle of the series.

There is a reason Jim had to tear Harry down like that so he could rebuild him again. The Harry Dresden through the end of Changes is both an angry young man and an angry young wizard. He draws strength from the anger and tends to have righteous anger but it is still based in anger.

Ghost Story gives him a chance to look at that aspect and start changing his behavior from damn the consequences full steam ahead to now he will likely stop to consider the secondary effects of what he does. This doesn't mean he won't charge ahead but he isn't likely to do it as blindly in the future as he did in the past.

In other words he has gained a bit of maturity and control over the anger that drove him. Which is one of the keys of what happens in Ghost Story, his nose is kind of rubbed in consequences of acting without considering them.

If he hadn't grown he could have skipped this book and we could have gone straight from changes to Cold Days the next book. But I think what happens in Ghost Story is very important to his growth. So that the Harry Dresden that will be in Cold Days isn't the Harry Dresden from the end of Changes.

    Ghost Story

Hmm yes. A non spoilery summary. Changes tore Harry down to his foundations and ripped them up too. Ghost Story saw him rebuilding those foundations firmer and better I think.
  14. The Veteran Rewards system gave you something every 3 months you had your account active.

The new Paragon Rewards system gives you something every month your account is active plus 1 extra reward per year plus an extra reward for every 1200 Paragon Points you buy from the store.

The Tier 9 rewards are essentially charged rewards. Really really nice charged rewards but charged rewards, well aside from the VIP costume stuff and it will cycle.

So with the new system you definitely can catch up to the old timers and in a fairly fast fashion particularly if you have some start ahead of time by having any exisitng Veteran Rewards.

Remember the tier 9 stuff is mainly nice charged stuff.
  15. Ok, based on the thought that it is based on the game, the trailer looks dramatically better than I expected. It could still be a horrible movie but it could be very very fun to.

    You sank my Battleship!
  16. Probably by those who desperately want name X. But personally I don't care since I'm not that likely to create a character there.

So I'm left to wonder what controls access to tiers. It seems you can skip stuff you don't want and focus on what you do, but how do you access the higher tiers?

Do you purchase access with the vet points? Do you simply have to wait for access after having the account for a certain time?

Anyhow hear anything about this? The details page seems to lack those details.
Every month you play you receive a Reward Token, you use those tokens to fill in the rewards table. Once a tier is filled in you unlock the next tier. I think you also get an extra token every year and every 1200 Paragon Points you buy [not receive] you get a token.

Existing players are receiving credit for their current Veteran Rewards. There is a somewhat fancy formula to figure out how many tokens you will start with.
  18. Clearly the correct price they should be charging for new power sets is 8000 Paragon Points per power set.
  19. The problem with your idea is that it would probably require a tutorial that was levels 1 - 3 or 1 - 5 to work all that in well. And I don't think the idea is to segregate starting players for say 5 levels. Instead they want to keep the tutorial fairly short and roll into playing the full game fairly fast.

So your idea isn't bad, but that it conflicts with the design goals of the tutorial.

I actually like your idea of more complicated choices to follow but see that it would require isolating players from the main game for a longer period to provide enough space for those missions.

If you have subscribed for at least 24 months you get +1 Token. (Ie. 2 Tokens beyond your Vet Reward count.)

If you have subscribed for at least 84 months you get +1 Token. (Ie. 7 Tokens beyond your Vet Reward count.)

Additionally, when freedom launches you should get any paid time Tokens up front. So if Freedom launches in September, and your subscription is up in December, you should get up to 3 more Tokens (Sep-Oct, Oct-Nov, possibly Nov-Dec).
Your table is right for the conversion of Veteran Rewards to Paragon Rewards. But ... The FAQ on the Freedom pages has this question and answer.

    Quote:
Q: Are there any incentives to maintaining my subscription or reactivating my subscription before City of Heroes Freedom launches?

A: Current subscribers and former subscribers that reactivate their accounts earn 400 Paragon Points per month beginning July 1, 2011. Any active subscriber also earns Reward Tokens in our new Paragon Rewards program
And I read that last sentence as indicating that you receive 400 Paragon Points and 1 Reward token per month starting July, ie this month.

So you would see the conversion you propose above + extra tokens.

As I read it they are automatic.

Basically if you read the whole set of slides you will see that each tier gives specific benefits for achieving that tier. Generally these are unlocks for Premium level players ie the Mastermind and Controller being unlocked by achieving Tier 5.

The second thing is on each Tier is a number of slots that you can spend your reward tokens on. Each slot rewards its own benefit that generally matches existing Veteran rewards.

Oh you wanted details. .... One of the benefits of unlocking Tier 9 is +150 Paragon Points per month for VIPs. Tha'ts a tier level benefit not a token reward.

Right now if we are adding things up right 84+ month vets are going to have Tier 9 unlocked. Bother now I'm confused... No I think I'm an 87 month vet and counted that I would have 2 tokens to use in Tier 9 at this time.

Additionally if I'm reading what has been said we have all been earning 1 token/month starting this month so if Freedom launches in September everyone currently subscribed should get 3 extra tokens above and beyond what you get for the VET to Rewards conversion.

From the example it appears you can buy parts of the booster or get all of it as a bundle. And the bundle price appears to be approximately the same as the current price of a booster.
