Thanks for the feedback, Doc BB- based on what you've said, I think I'm going to run with this-
http://www.cohplanner.com/mids/downl...32FE01A2E4DE54
As far as Super Jump goes... eh, it's a preference thing. At most, I'd gain one slot and a mule power, or something I can two-slot. Besides, Blessing of the Zephyr is free defense. And, given that I'm quite odd, I can't quite stop myself mentally inserting a 'boing' noise every time I use the power. It amuses me on the longer trips
PFF is in for... well, Tanker Stealth, mostly. And an LoTG Recharge mule, of course.
After your reaction to my Force Bolt slotting, I took a look at the damage it actually did and promptly re-slotted it (still with a damage set, but that was for the recovery bonus).
Anyways, based on my limited understanding of Masterminds (played this guy to 50 without ever entirely figuring things out, and Mids is of limited help- phenomenal tool, but it doesn't seem to handle pets well), this looks like it will suit my needs- solidly survivable without needing to crank defenses to the point where I sacrifice offense, and with enough endurance modification to keep me in the game if I happen to want to start shooting things. And I've got plenty of vet freespecs to tweak, if need be.
Oh- random question- do pets 'inherit' procs? Was thinking about slotting the Explosive Strike: Chance for Smashing in the Battle Drones (rather than the Blood Mandate: Damage/Endurance that's currently in there) for a bit of a damage boost, but I realized I had no idea if it carried over. -
*headshake*
It's not the boosted range, it's the Power Boost (which is sadly only available from the 90-second Radial tree). Hmm... speaking of which, I wonder if anyone has hard numbers on exactly how big a boost that is? -
So... are you telling me that that's a good build, that I should barge into Kinetoa's thread for feedback on my build, or what? My forum etiquette is a little rusty, but I've generally understood it to be that you don't hijack someone else' thread for your own purposes :/
Also, Kinetoa's build, while perfectly fine, doesn't look like what I'm after- it looks to sacrifice a bit more offense than I'd prefer. -
'allo MM forum. I've decided to dust my old Bots/FF off with the changes to FF (and the usual lingering urge to recreate several of the major battles from Star Wars simultaneously), and he's in serious need of a respec. As in 'hasn't been played in at least a year or two, no inherent Fitness, and mostly on SOs' need of a respec.
Mostly wanting a flexible, survivable build on him. Don't really want to drop a lot of cash on the build- the only expensive bit is the Panacea Proc, and the only reason that's in there is because I've got it already, although I may wind up selling it to fund the build, depending on the price of the purple pet recipes right now.
So, here's what I've banged out; if there are any suggestions on improvement, I'd quite appreciate it.

Wellp, I went Clarion. Not for the mez protection (since I went Plant/Storm/Psi specifically for Indomitable Will), but for the power-boost effect you can get with the Radial tree (and the boosted range is nice too). It's rather handy :3
I can see Ageless being more than a little handy, too, since endurance is kind of an ongoing problem for this toon (that and I went Musculature for my Alpha, since I mostly use this toon to kill things)
-
Heh. 'Satisfying' doesn't even begin to describe the damage on a Plant/Stormie. I could barely even play controllers before I created him, and now, well... heh. There's a certain addictive quality to it. Then again, it's a very very different playstyle; Plant/Storm does what I tend to call the killbox. Pick your spawn, Confuse-Creepers-Roots-Freezing Rain-Tornado-Thunderstorm-Point and Laugh.
As an aside, Tornado is also a wonderfully nasty little toy- if you've Rooted something, or they're already resistant to KB, it'll eat the poor bugger.
*shrug* I guess it all boils down to playstyle- I'm not sure I like the /kin method of buffing-off-enemies, but I sure do love chewing up entire spawns as a plant/storm. And it's rather safe, especially with Indomitable Will- accidentally aggroing 3 +0/x8 spawns is more of a "huh, maybe I should pop a purple or two" moment than an "ohcrapohcrapohcrap I'm going to DIE!" moment (depending on the enemy group, of course) -
... dammit. Yeah, that looks like the ones. Thanks DR
-
Thanks Roderick, but that's not what I'm looking for- it's too recent (by nearly three years >.>).
The ones I'm thinking of- and I'm reasonably certain there was more than just one- had the Hellions launched somewhere in the vicinity of two miles or more, and they actually tracked them- the viewpoint switched to another character that chased them down/marked their landing spot. I seem to fuzzily remember it being from one of the bridges to the warehouse district on the other side of AP...
And also, like I said, it was from before the Power Boost-stops-affecting-KB patch (that's one change that I never really understood... what kind of game-breaking was boosted knockback causing, anyways? As far as I know, it was mostly used to punt Hellions into low orbit...) -
So, as the title implies... I went looking for some of those old videos that used to be on Youtube of the knockback experiments where some luckless Hellion gets launched 3/4 of the way across Atlas Park back when Power Boost still affected Knockback. Oddly, I've found nothing. Does anyone have any idea where they went, or if there are still any out there?
-
You know, I had just been kind of assuming that the poor magic on Praetoria was because of the Hamidon- he/it has some kind of ill-defined relation to magic, and somewhere at the back of my brain I had figured that the Devouring Earth had devoured the magic as well, thus severely reducing what was available to humans.
*shrug* -
Add me on the Plant/Storm bandwagon. I couldn't even play controllers... just couldn't get into them... until I rolled up my Plant/Stormie, and he quickly became my second main. It's cheerfully overpowered pretty much from level 8 onwards
And if you want damage... hoo boy. Plant/Storm... especially once you add a hefty dose of +Recharge... basically eats spawns. I run him on +8/x0 just so there's at least a little bit of a challenge. A little bit. As in 'oops, aggroed three +8 spawns simultaneously, maybe I should eat a purple... eh.'
At least with my build, harder targets are the plant/stormy's achilles heel- three or more bosses in a spawn and I have problems, and I don't think I'll be soloing AVs anytime soon (probably- with the fancy new Incarnate powers, I'm not so sure anymore >.>). Then again, Hurricane debuffs accuracy so heavily that if you're willing to put up with the Repel (nothing much you can do other than Herdicane them into a wall if you want to keep them bunched- even the -KB in Roots doesn't help with Repel :/), it's amazing what you can handle. -
Oh... no, that was just to get that little bit of a boost to Resistance and Defense. Mostly shooting for a 'stands on Lord Recluse' face during a MoSTF and giggles' tank- survivability and aggro control are paramount. If I want to solo, I'll create another build (although I may just run my psi-survival build as the soloing build).
-
Looking mostly to squeeze some more performance out of my build. I don't think it's a horrible build, but I do think there's room for improvement. Not really wanting to spend umpteen billions on it, but willing to sink at least some cash into it.
Oh- and this will primarily be a team tank with a relatively dedicated group, running 90% of the time with my wife's PB, at least during levelling. Looking mostly to meatshield and control aggro. I'm aware of the gaping psi hole, but not sure what to do about it- thinking maybe about running a secondary build to fight psi-heavy enemies.

Wellp, still no luck, despite Tech Support's help. Hoping that posting this might help prompt some responses- here's the CoH Tester-thingy readout (EDIT- Removal of pointless stuff)
-
So... yeah.
The title pretty much says it all; the lappy in question (Alienware Area 51 m5700 w/ GeForce Go 6800 graphics card) can handle regular Rogue Isle and Paragon City locations without much trouble, even on moderate Ultra Mode graphic settings. Try to log into Praetoria, though, and we get a pathetic, stuttering mess that accepts input every couple of minutes, and if you're lucky, you might manage a step.
This holds true even on absolute minimum graphical settings; the laptop has been scanned, optimized, drivers reinstalled... pretty much everything I can think of shy of a full Windows re-install.
Oddly, Praetoria worked for a little while on Triumph server (while it was the lowest-population server on the list) a couple of days ago, but not since. Really not sure what the problem is; even high-traffic areas like Pocket D on Virtue work alright, but Praetoria? Forget it. -
Procs work a bit funny in pets and pseudo-pets- I'm not sure, but what I've heard is that the game considers the Flytrap, Freezing Rain, and your character as three separate sources.
-
/Rad simply has more support-oriented powers; a heal, a rez, and buffs/debuffs (six as opposed to /Storm's three. Four if you count Steamy Mist >.>). All I really meant by that- I loves me some Plant/Storm, as you might have noticed.
-
My personal spin? Plant/Storm is (much) heavier damage, Plant/Rad is better support.
I have considerably more experience with Plant/Storm, so I'll run with that for the moment. First off, quite frankly, by the time that you're high enough level that mezzes are a serious problem, they really won't matter much, unless they hit at just the wrong time. They'll be taking damage from Roots, Tornado, Creepers, Lightning Storm, Freezing Rain, your Flytrap, and each other, courtesy of Seeds of Confusion. If they mez you once all that is going... it... uhm, yeah. If you have enough time to get your pets and pseudo-pets out, you can AFK solo an eight-man spawn. Alternatively, you could just go with the Psionic Mastery APP and pick up Indomitable Will (the route I took, although it's so rarely needed that it's more of an LotG: Recharge mule for me than any kind of necessity).
As far as the endurance goes... well, careful slotting will help you with a lot of that, and the rest of it is knowing when to relax, watch, point and laugh as your horde of pets eats spawns that kill tanks without you being so much as inconvenienced (which actually happened to me tonight). Get your damage dealers in play, and then let your Recovery kick in.
A minor point of order: if you play a Plant/Storm, you will not be an AV-killer. Odds are good that you can slaughter most everything that moves, but the harder the target, the rougher a time you're going to have with it, at least solo. It won't be impossible, but you'll have to play more cautiously than, say, an Ill/Rad.
If you do play a Plant/Stormie, though, get ready for one hell of a ride. Some of the most fun I've had in City of Heroes. It's like tossing the badguys into a blender and hitting 'puree'. -
Hmm... alrighty, I'll run with Danny "Target Lad" Troy, since my main RP character, Energon X, is, well, pretty much me with superpowers and some different life experiences. So no real challenge getting into his shoes
1. Danny doesn't do all his own laundry, although given that he's thirteen, his mum has decided that it's time for him to learn. When he's doing his own, it's at the laundry room in the boy's dorm at Golden Eagle High.
2. "Somebody else's."
3. A really good, meaty lasagna would probably top his list of favourite 'real' foods. Anything with enough sugar and colouring would probably edge out the rest for junk food. As far as 'can't stand it'... he was exposed to Hollandse Nieuwe herring on a family trip, and now has trouble eating any fish at all.
4. Danny's half of his dorm room is tidy, if you look at it at the right angle. He's got his heavily-insulated laptop on the desk, and his clothes stacked in roughly-organized piles under the bed, which, while rarely actually made, is usually at least rumpled in a fashion that roughly approximates being made. Other than that, he keeps most of his stuff in his bedroom at home in Steel Canyon, which looks like a hurricane hit, and is absolutely loaded with toys that he has pretty much outgrown, but can't quite bear to turn over to the mercies of his younger brothers quite yet.
5. Well, the description of Danny that his Da has posted over his desk says "Pre-Teen Hero Bursts on to the Scene!" as the headline, with "Target Lad, Paragon City's newest hero, saves 12 from out-of-control building fire, arrests 15 Hellions" as the secondary heading on a clipping from last year. Danny's Da is a reporter, natchIf asked in person, he'd tell you "He's a good kid, just kind of intense. Er... don't ask him about the Outcasts."
6. Yup- his mum is actually a clinically-trained psychologist, so... well, not being one myself, I can't even really approximate it, but it would probably boil down to much the same as what his dad said, along with reasons why Danny's that way.
7. If I was to meet Danny? Oog. He's thirteen. Headstrong, insecure, kind of socially inept, and rather full of himself. He's also wound a bit too tight >.> -
*waves to Bwerp*
McJames, I think I can expand slightly on Paradigm's offer- our dear Bwerp (er, sorry, that's Paradigm_Shift's previous screenname) is part of a global channel named "Boarderline Insanity" (as am I). We've got a fair number of experienced roleplayers, and if you wanted to join up with the RP supergroup that a lot of us hang out in (the Teamsters, on Protector server) to check things out and see what you think, you'd be more than welcome. -
Uhm... and understand, this is me relying on my admittedly fuzzy and imprecise memory... I'm fairly certain that my loathing of Warwolves on my Plant/Stormie is precisely because the -KB doesn't take effect when I try to Root them, and they get flung in all directions. I suppose I could go test this, but at the moment I should have been in bed an hour and a half ago. If anybody else feels like testing it, feel free :/
-
Hmm... according to Paragonwiki, there's no -KB component to Shout of Command. And I'm not sure... really, reeeeeally not sure... but I think that if your Roots/Entangle aren't sticking, the -KB isn't applied either.
-
Gotta say, Herc, I'm in agreement with Salty and CB here- Tornado is an integral part of my attack chain on my Plant/Stormie, and I've also used it on the Cimeroran Wall, with the usual good results.
... if you're interested, my usual attack chain is Carrion Creepers-Seeds of Confusion-Roots-Freezing Rain-Tornado-Lightning Storm-Roots/Whatever's Needed. It makes an impressive mess :3
One possibility as to your troubles on the Cim Wall- it may be that some of the Romans got off their Shout of Command buffs, neutralizing your Roots. -
I've been tracking this- I can't give sources very easily, unfortunately, but what here's what I've seen via various Twitter feeds and Con comments and whatnot:
- No guns. Apparently LoK is going to be very Steampunk-ish, but the creators have stated that guns are not a route they want to go.
- Aang's dead, but will be making appearances 'in his own way'. Korra is, indeed, the next Avatar, which kinda means that Aang's not around anymore.
- Apparently, Aang's time in the iceberg, suspended animation or no, counted against his "Avatar time", thus him dying so (relatively) young.
- There's a group called 'Anti-Benders' running around, although they've been closemouthed as to exactly what part they'll play, or even if they'll be antagonistic.
- Most, if not all, of the action will take place in and around a place called Republic City
Oh, and I picked up most of my info following links via here (don't worry, it's safe-ish- it's the TVTropes forums, not the time-distorting articles)
-
Quote:Mostly because they can no longer see
Played and slotted correctly, it should be heavy on control and a very violent damage set (as in, people will notice).
Agreed on T-Clap, although I will add the caveat that it makes a poor 'panic button' power- it simply doesn't animate fast enough, and the stun is applied at the end of the animation >.<
Why yes, I have died (repeatedly) in mid-animation of the bloody power. Bitter? Me?
