  1. It's partly because the set is so well-rounded. Purples, reds, oranges and greens all seem to do massive amounts for you.
  2. Willpower, plus common IOs, plus playing. Congratulations: You have all the surviability in the world.
  3. Wouldn't help mine any, since he has no attacks, but hey.

In combat/out of combat, I imagine.

I don't see it happening though.
  5. Well, yes. I was at the time banging a drum for dominator changes that were not made for 'us', the players in the core of the event, those players who had not only got permadom, but had gotten it multiple times. It was this perspective - and its unpopularity - that most informed my subsequent opinion and observation of the changes.

The real tipping point in my mind was the porting of Earth. Suddenly, we had a powerset whose up-and-down nature was not there for several core powers. It had two real winners out of it, but by and large, a permadom earth dominator was not getting as much yield out of Domination as say, a permadom mind controller. I like to imagine that it was after its release and the subsequent data gathering that Castle was able to check - or at least gain a data point - that players in general did not mind up-and-down being taken away. Since it's led to the release of Elec for dominators, I think that it's more or less right.

Somewhat ironic that the belief no one can be trusted to represent the playerbase properly prevents me from even trying, but doesn't prevent me from representing my own interests if I choose.
I'm reminded of when Castle revised the dominator. He approached - in private - a fairly large number of dominator board regulars, who had contributed to balance discussions, who indicated a wide spread of knowledge of the game engine, who did math and who argued on the right terms for ways to improve the dominator, before he made even the announcement of possible changes.

Net result? The players who weren't selected ahead of time went bananas as if Castle had somehow selected three morons who would tell him everything he did was right.

  8. It was a silly idea when Hyperstrike put it up too.

Speakling as someone who has delved into this deeper than you, it is currently not feasible without getting the programming staff involved. You are considering a haircut to be the same thing as bowel surgery.

Has hit me three times now, and it included getting rid of some arena-icon macros and custom macros that I should have backed up, but haven't.
  11. Yeah, it should be worth noting that on my plant/thorn, I haven't taken the pet. It's too slow and tracking its health and mine is too much bother.
  12. Well, Dark Servant has two natural controls on what he does. The first is that he's amazingly good at keeping himself alive through debuffs. The second is that he doesn't kill things and move on.

My first pets were monkeys, back when monkeys were the same level as you, but I was still able to buy them the global IOs to buff their survivability. So yeah, I was kinda used to the idea of never having 'control' over my pets.

Castle observing the power in the database and noting that its DPA was completely and utterly out of whack of the formula they use to balance it, and then submitted this information to Geko.

    Before PVP.

It took a long time for the fix to happen.
  14. Well, to best explain, gremlins do chain spawns, but they are in a powerset that I feel can handle that chaining really effectively.
  15. This thread serves beautifully as an example of what happens when you so far into a good idea you come out the other side into raw derp.

Gremlins I'd argue against being bad, but they do more or less mandate that you ride that tiger and keep on top of what they're doing.
  17. If you mean the most one individual character can hold, it's 2 billion. Also, I think jwbullfrog might wanna double-check the information he has before he makes hypothesis like that.
  18. Ah, but when I join a team, my name changes colour! Oh, will I never be free of this meddlesome perk?
  19. Bonus round question: How do you keep your title the colour of your name?
  20. The meme that crystallised the notion for Castle that led to the proper revamp was Dominators are the archetype with two primaries.
  21. If your idea for a way to 'fix' a level 1-available power is to make it comparable to the crown jewel of a blast set, you might want to rethink your strategy.
  22. Low damage? I have no idea what you're talking about. My thugs/time has nothing yet upping his damage output and he's doing just fine.

Scatter? Have never seen it on my thugs/time. I suggest you double-check if you've put knockback enhancement in any of your powers.
  23. If you can prove the system is broken, you might start on fixing it. But I don't think you can.
  24. Nice little thing for those long-time vets like me, small purple insps give me 13.125 or something like that. So I can strive for 31.8 or so and get the same mileage.

Meanwhile, experience has shown me that 45% SL vs 32~+Resists is almost a zero-sum game in terms of survival, but the latter is cheaper and strains the build less.
