  1. Yes, but just because I play pretty much every control set and assault set.

It does amuse me that the concept folk who whined that scrappers needed more natural options have seemingly never looked at doms or controllers.

Excuse me but my DM/SD was no more uber with SC that way it "Was" then. Don't know if I want to solo with him anymore, not having a power that barely "Arrests" minions.
Don't ever play a defender, you'll be so disappointed that they get these dud powers like Adrenalin Boost, Dark Servant, and Benumb that can never arrest minions! D:

    stone/WM

Warmace has more regular AOE capability, doesn't have to build for high recharge in one power to get the same AOE coverage, has stuns to augment survivability levelling up, and doesn't have to deal with rage crashes.

I wouldn't say it's better, but if it's a simple choice between WM and SS, that's the pros to WM.

Ditto. I'm off to get back into that Energy Transfer thread I left on my wife's advice right now.
  5. Wow, I wish I got that kind of hate. I had to make do with bitchy, anonymous, passive-aggressive complaints from high-rep folk back when we had a rep system.

Because the developers have their heads up their ***** regarding exactly what stalkers are meant to be and instead muddle along with generals and best-fits.

  8. To be fair, fire/ and mind/ can both do that without Earth helping. Earth lets you do that while you pound the snot out of your target as well.
  9. Animation speed represents a bottleneck to DPS. Broadsword seems very powerful because it delivers very big chunks of damage, but those chunks are spread out, even when recharge is no longer a factor, by long animation times. Katana, on the other hand, is capable of some truly sick attack patterns because it can fit a whole attack pattern in the ten seconds of Build-Up before we get to dealing with IOs.
  10. Pish-tosh. You get more damage out of the aura than you would out of the spikes from Build-Up. Bonus, if you go Heroic, there's also Call To Justice.

  12. You think that's all that? I dunno. It's sure not long-ranged, but I don't like incinerate; the DoT nature of the power doesn't mesh well with the way Blaze takes away half their health in a second.

On the other hand, every other set really should invest in their melee attacks.
  13. I have a nagging feeling that I'm responsible for the tears meme, at first. There really was a time there where I felt every single post I made was about someone's delicious tears, and it was consistantly about the idiocy of people complaining about the Acrobatics 'nerf' and therefore the cruelty of being forced to use the market for KB protection.
  14. I have to fall back on the wise words of a friend of mine; when a thing becomes so commonplace that its absence is a form of aberrant behaviour, and where that aberrant behaviour is unhindered by being given the thing, the thing should be standard.

The developers are making it trickier to make bad characters. I recognise the caution this creates, but it's a very prudent thing to do, in a design sense.
  15. I will concur that -defence is too common, and in too large an amount, since -defence carries the capacity for cascade failure while -resistance doesn't really. But all that really says to me is that defence-based powersets - like shields, sr, and yes, bane spiders - should have DDR, and that cascade failures are just one of the possible failings of characters who aren't necessarily built to take advantage of defence as properly.
  16. 1. Your voice is freaking awesome.

    2. I've probably got as much experience fighting Nosferatu as one man can have, and I can say with a great deal of certainty that he's a coward for a variety of things. Any end-drain gets his dander up and -regen can also get him to slope off. Envenomed Daggers on my stalker actually make that fight take longer.
  17. You'll find AOE lacking until 41, then you can fix that problem easily.
  18. You're going to hear a lot of people saying stupid things as you play. Especially from stupid players.

Don't sweat it, you're gunna be fine. The game changes as you level, and you'll naturally see how that happens and adjust as it does. Sometime around level 12, you don't need to heal any more, and sometime around 26, you'll wind up the guy in the front of the group yelling 'Come on people!' rather than hiding behind a tank.

The game changes, change with it... and ignore idiots.

    What pretentious twaddle.

    Energy Transfer

So you feel that EM's mitigation/AOE is fine on an archetype where you don't understand their AOE and mitigation? :? I am confuzzed.

This is as serious a comment on the design of the stalker as the idea that all brutes should have taunt.

(Also, while I can see Strato's stance on AS being a type of mitigation, I see it losing its ability to mitigate anything after level 22 or so, when ASes stop being kills.)
  23. I wasn't in it until the very last stages. Whenever closed beta forums opened up in the past, I dived in to have a look, this is more or less the same.

Basically, lots of people said stupid things about the roles of tanks and brutes, many tears were shed over an irrelevant nerf, and Castle acknowledged that there's something fundamentally in need of attention in the stalker.
