Honestly. Favorite damn primary ever to grace this franchise. It adds a little of all the above when it comes to attacks Light, medium, heavy, Disorients, Knock Back, PBAoE, Ranged, Tier 9.
My first was a KM/Nin Stalker and the comedic part of it all is that it reminds me of Street Fighter. Loved it from that moment. Can't really say I've seen much of an effect on it's debuff towards enemy strength, a red mob followed by three whites will make it hard until your tier 9s and depending on your secondary set. But the way the set meshes well together, ties from one attack to the next.
For Scrappers, Tankers, and Brutes - they get PS which at first seems a little underpowered compared to buildup. But five slot it with a build-up proc IO set and you're godlike when you start stacking those procs together. Stalkers instead get build up but with Concentrated Strike always critting on Hide (which instead of multiplying it's damage it recharges BU instantly) is also pretty sexy. -
Quote:The point of subtracking two powers from the primary and one from the secondary was to make it so a Stalker wouldn't have 3 extra powers where as during CoV's launch the most you could have from prim/sec were 9-9. Too many inherents would balance the game.In hindsight, Assassin Strike should have been an inherent power that doesn't "replace" an existing attack in the powerset. This makes balancing/creating new sets for each melee AT difficult and in some cases boring as they have to take out a good attack for it.
They got rid of the PBAoEs in most sets to design the stalker as a single target spiker.
There's no problem with the way the class dishes out the pain or how it pulls it off. It's the way the class is required to survive and how classes like Bane's are more robust while operating in a similar fashion. -
I use AS simply as an opening attack during hidden state and rarely if ever use placate. Can't even use it on BAFs because lag is so bad. Otherwise, I never want to lose it as I really like the dynamic of the stalker-class but it's purely there for the start of chains.

Either boost Hide's surpressed def rate or give it a Foe -ToHit property. I mean, they should have some kind of pseudo-RTTC aspect about them.
-
Since I love KM/X I'd be most interested in trying the two out. My only concern is the money costs but I suppose a few hero/vill runs and I should be fine as long as I stick to a decent schedule.

Personally if that were to happen I would like to see more animations then for BS/Axe/Mace. Tune the animations around to being more fluid and less basic while not making the attacks themselves too quick.

Quote:I dont have a single non-tanker character that is softcapped to any defense. It is not necessary to play this game.
Why do you suppose stalkers get all of those other attacks in their "assassin strike" powerset? I wonder if the devs thought we might stick around and use more than just BU, AS, placate, run away? You really should try playing a stalker once. They aren't as awful as you make them sound.
And on top of that they fit the rogue playstyle, which one can assume that's what they aimed for in the first place. To be honest, it's the first time I picked up a Rogue-esque class in any MMO in general and completely changed my opinion on how I'd see a scout in later titles.
There's a few beefs I have with the archtype, even though it's my favorite, but it has to do with it's lack of survivability when it's actions are foiled. They need to be harder to strike in terms of To-Hit bonuses mobs can get, something to make them nimble. Problem I have in end-game, where normally by then a Stalker is a pseudo-tank at that point, is that the mobs stack so many debuffs and to-hit capabilities that they chew through you like tissue paper - scrappers on the other hand don't necessarily have to worry. My /WP Stalker dies even with Tier 9 activated, mobs just doesn't give crap. -
Quote:There's certain cosmetic affects Scrappers get too. There's just something about being able to go CS > Repulsing Turrent > Smashing Blow > Focused Burst that is somewhat akin to fighting games like Street Fighter. The range seems slightly longer range than most melee based powers (ignoring Burst of course) and the speed of the animation slower than the effect makes it an exciting spectacle. So, I would choose between Stalker VS Scrapper. Oh and I rarely use Assassin Strike now. It sucks.
Personally I love AS, it's the first time I found myself using it without even being in hidden-mode for the lols. Especially if you trigger it during a knock back, they hit the ground, and you have Kinetic's IO proc in there. Chances of a knock-back are small of course in the proc but if the mob merely floats back and lands on their feet, if it shoots off it's pretty funny. -
Quote:I was actually kind of hoping Incarnates would bring Melee weapons these sort of elemental properties. KM, BS, Kat, BA, BM; etcetera.Having it be like Spines/Claws is exactly how I envisioned it. I think that would be thrilling! They could even allow the Scrapper to choose an element to enchant the blade with, sorta like Swap Ammo for Dual Pistols. Spark Blade for example, uses an electrified blade.
Grant it, you can give the above a slight fire proc via Interface: Reactive. But I was kind of hoping to see the truth behind Valkyrie's flaming sword which I thought, when I first came to play, was one of the coolest effects.
Imagine lightning strikes and thunder sounds in KM -drools-

Quote:Simply put, I don't want a single sword/single gun set like you do. I want a two-handed sword/dual pistols combo. I'm sure someone else might want a martial arts/dual pistols combo. I'm sure someone else still would want a dark melee/single pistol combo. You can't make a set for every combination, a there are far too many of them. Splitting them up into powerset and epic means that we can pick and choose our own combo. -
Regen is one of those sets that make you wonder, "Why didn't Brutes get it in the first place?" Long time coming IMO.

I agree with the others in saying Broadsword would likely be more feasible for Tankers than MA.
Of course, I would of liked it more if more effort was put into new animations. I'd gladly wait for these additions to take place following i21, there's no rush. Throw it with the rest that this next issue is supposed to launch. -
Kenna, if you ever run into her, runs sort of a Magic inspired cult of sorts both red and blue side. Of course leading inspiration comes mostly from Greek mythos and Croatoa's archs but hell, my Nanashi is in her VG even though he's Japanese in birth origin but the similarities between the Fae and Kami are similar in ways.
So, keep eyes open. She's on quite a bit, tell her Nanashi sent ya; talk to her and get to know the folks she RPs with. -
Not to mention Alpha as a whole, if we're talking about the slot here, are no longer that difficult to unlock. Get threads, get the XP, and you're set.

I really want to do that trial but I'll be working tomorrow (Friday)
-
First try at Keyes with the leader who had no experience at running Leagues in general, let alone the trials, and we beat it despite losing like three people who wanted a BAF run instead. It's really not that difficult, you just need to practice at the multitasking involved. Beat it a second time yesterday just before they shut the servers down for maintenance.
-
So, are there any videos yet detailing all the new unlocks. The screen shots are limited and I really want to know what the auras/paths look like before I pick them.
-
Eh, never had that big of a problem in EQ honestly. PVPers would goto to their corner of the game and wouldn't bother. I personally prefer Official servers... just not something I'd advise this late in the game, it's something that has to be decided from the start.
-
I'm in agreement with Xan here, Virtue is the Unofficial RP server. Simply trying to pull people to a new one is a waste of time. They aren't, as of this moment, going to give us an official RP server - The VIP maybe the closest thing to it but even then the VIP lounge is an existing example to how "well" that worked; people who prefer to grief or troll as of today have access to the lounge already.
-
s long as they don't pull a Cryptic and tell me because my characters were made on a subscribed account that going free locks me out of them, I don't see any reason to DOOM over stuff.
-
I'd only switch over if it became an official RP server which isn't likely to happen. But welcome back
-
Eh, just pick a trial you wish to run and start advertising in game. Check out the LFG feature for people within or higher than the level requirement who maybe looking for teams and ask them via tell if they're interested. Grab a bag of popcorn, soda, and get ready to have fun.
