  1. Yeah. Saw the price on the dog... no. Not wasting points, or money once I go premium, on that.

As far as "Who cares what it costs free or premium?" Nice attitude. If it costs too much, they won't buy it. They don't buy it, paragon doesn't make money. Simple enough?

I'd have to ask for a citation on that. Because that's just silly. They don't do anything but follow. They have no "AI." They have no attacks. They don't even really have a physical 'presence.'

Frankly I'm starting to think that "server intensive" is just the go-to cop-out answer for things as much as they've been using it lately. Either that or they've been downgraded to hand-me-down 386s to run the game servers.

Nacional holiday? Where's the memorial? Where's her statue? Mourning of any kind?
    OK, this is getting silly.

Galaxy Girl: Was killed during the Rikti invasion. There probably WAS sentiment like that (and visibly would have been had the tech been around for it.) She had a *big freaking statue* - taller than most of, if not any of the others - in Galaxy City in a very visible place, as opposed to, say, the one stuck next to the military surplus store or stuck in the courtyard of an office building. With a plaque explaining who she was. And, at the end, Longbow "honor guards."

Hero One: The loss of his team is part of the reason we don't (barring real-world-money considerations) get capes at level 1. It's part of the canon. There's a time capsule with the stuff they left.

So, yes, they have statues, and memorials, and people foregoing capes (in fact, not being allowed to wear them... again, until real-world money came into the game in the form of booster packs - until level 20.)

Are you SURE you want to use these arguments? These are events that, in game - and even real-world-ish - happened years ago. There's been a second Rikti invasion since then. There's been the driving out - and return - of the Fifth Column. And now we've been plastered with meteors. Life has moved on, and Galaxy Girl and Hero One are now history. Recent history, but history.

Besides, I do also have to take issue with the whole "Use PVP if you want to 'stick it to the other side,' don't make heroes lose" attitude. WHY should someone playing a villainside character be screwed out of a major win partway through the story? WHY do they not get to have a plan succeed in a *paired* set of story arcs? Are they unworthy of anything but being beaten down and called losers? Are you channeling Golden Girl and her nonsense?

I believe the closest-to-official word on that was "It's a vbulletin issue. They know about it. PS/NC has told them as well."

Cue all the "update the software" and "other sites don't do it."

(No, I'm not excusing it. Just saying that's the last word I remember hearing on it.)

And I'm solidly on the not thrilled list regarding KB reduction and hostile-base-proliferation. Yeah, I get that they're working on, or at least looking for, whatever's doing them. But this last half issue - yeah. Really, really not thrilled with how this got released.
  7. Er...

OK. Other than the ones mentioned, how many "They died/the bad thing happened" storylines are there, heroside? The Terra Conspiracy is the only one I can think of off the top of my head, and it's still a copout IMHO because she's "carted away for study so they can cure her later."

So - .01% of the hero storylines?

Frankly I think it's about TIME we got past the "Heroes always win" fifth-grade nonsense. Doesn't mean the heroes will always lose or start losing 50% of the time or anything - but the occasional "big loss," for me, makes other wins all that much sweeter because it's not a given.

The only thing I don't want is, if I'm going to lose, I don't want the loss to be because of something game-mechanics-ly cheap. If I need to escort a hostage, give them more than 5 hit points and don't make them feel the need to solo the rest of the map with nothing but a sharp stick and a pebble and THEN tell me I lost because, surprisingly, they couldn't defeat the room full of bosses when they ran off.

Hurricane does repel as well. Different effect.

So, Ha-ha right back to you.
  9. Y'know what, forget it.

You all win. I can't think of the last time I actually have been *attacked* by people and been subject to such utter asshattery and snobbery for reporting what looked like a bug (and turned into an actual patch note after the fact.)

Go enjoy your bit of superiority as AE burns around you. Clue for you: your arcs aren't the next great piece of literature that will be celebrated throughout time. People play differently than you - yes, even play regular arcs differently from you - and have different ways of dealing with situations.

Congrats, you have driven away someone who used to enjoy AE, because frankly, in this thread and the other, this is the worst treatment I think I've ever seen from any group. And I'm finding myself firing right back and falling down to your levels, and that's not me.

The devs simply (and unsurprisingly) screwed up and overreached.

  12. This bug is annoying.

WHAT made the devs think pushing this half-issue through in its current state was a good idea? I expect the game to be in this sort of state on the test server when a patch is first put out - NOT when it's live. No, live's not perfect, but this is horrible overall. About the only thing they could do worse would be mark every zone and every player with "PVP on."

Apparently the stealth-edited patch notes indicate it also affects external buffs. Hope you didn't plan on KEEPING that AB/RA/etc. for more than one mission... and hope the map wasn't small.

How about you don't tell me "when I should be" using inspirations?

    Two things:

One, if you think this will stop farming when *everything else done in the last seven years* hasn't, you're deluding yourself.

Two, Positron: "We are not targeting anyone's playstyle." (Talking about MARTy and being accused of it being targeted towards farmers.) You DO remember MARTy, right? If rewards became excessive, it was supposed to trigger - among other things, to unambiguously tell the player it *was* excessive? And yet we hear from the people testing it with the CEBR thing "It didn't trigger."

So, if this is "there to stop farming," not only are you calling Posi and crew a liar, but liars who haven't paid attention to the rest of the time their game has been in existence. The farmers move on - and likely HAVE moved 2-3 more farms down the road.

Bite me. If it had "No impact on legitimate players," *I wouldn't be complaining.* And if it's also affecting - by the notes above - external buffs, it's even worse. Some of those are on fairly long timers, so a fast mission means getting them stripped and not being able to get them replaced. Hope nobody used any small maps in their stories.

Frankly, at this point I'm with those that say they should just nuke AE from orbit and write it off as a mistake. Much like the rest of this horribly bug-ridden half-issue (with the UI bug, the knockback bug, bases attacking their owners, villain bases being destructable and everything ELSE.) They seriously screwed up with this release.

    ... yep, same.

  17. Are you using one of the "Secure" or one of the other plots? I can't target any of that (Heroside, though.)

All the glass stands and banners, though, are missing emblems completely.

(And I don't remember if teleporters showed levels before, but they are now - l50.)

Did you bother reading the rest of the thread - where, yes, it's verified that inspirations are being stripped on entering AE missions -or did you just get that far and insist on jumping in to judge people?

    1. I never gobble red candy before I zone into the mission. I gobble it when I'm already in the mission. If you have 30 seconds from the time you gobbled to the time you got in the mission, that's why they're gone - possibly. But, I'm gonna double check this, because 1. It's undocumented as someone stated above, and 2. I could be mistaken.
It was certainly not 30 seconds there. It was:
    1. Pick mission. talk to contact, etc.
    2. Stand at beam (since this was for testing - even if it wasn't, the insp contact is all of two seconds away at worst.)
    3. Pop insps. (One red, one yellow, one purple, just to have a variety.)
    4. Click on beam.

    Instant loss of inspiration buffs.

I did it 2-3 times to be sure. Then went to a newspaper mission to see if it happened there (which it did not.)

I *do* tend to verify that I'm actually seeing stuff like this before posting about it. This is not a one time, was-I-paying-attention thing.
  20. [QUOTE=Talen Lee;3982958]If they need to do that to take on those boss fights and groups of difficult customs, inspiration toking is not their big problem. Not being able to play is.[/qutoe]

I have a suggestion on where you can shove that bit of "analysis." But that seems par for the course in this part of the forum as it is. Unless you've played with me - which, from you saying this sort of BS, you haven't - you have *no* basis to make such a statement.

    Quote:
It is a bit weird that I can do this in hazard zones and you can't do it in AE, but... oh well, so what? If you wanna tell me stuff like what we were doing in CEBR was reasonable, and that this somehow represents neutering of appropriate play, I have a bridge you can buy.
There's a difference between "a couple" (or a breakfree and yellow, for mixed mezzing/stealthed mobs, or 2-3 purples and some reds for a boss/eb/av near the entrance) and the "eat 50 reds and 30 purples" for farmers.

  22. That's what the forum (and exit survey) are for. Use those. The only time I've seen surveys pop up in game is during betas (not COH,) where they're looking for feedback on certain areas under test.

Don't know. For the characters that have hasten or whatnot, it's always stayed with me when I've zoned into an AE mission.

What they should have done, if they didn't want farming (which would make Posi's "We're not targeting anyone's playstyle" bit recently a lie,) is made sure to have a few people on staff to look at the arcs and reject "non story" arcs before they could get published.

No, complaining about what I hope is a bug, but suspect is a stealth nerf, which affects my play preferences - which includes, by the way, when I go into story missions in AE.

Right now it's combining with the bug (sure hope THAT's a bug as well) about knockback to make me just not want to bother logging into the game. So, y'know what? Having the ever-so-rare dev-choice arc come up... yeah, that's WAY down on my radar.

It is a farming issue, no matter how much people try to deflect by bringing up some fringe scenarios you might encounter once or twice.
So, because *I* do it on normal missions, as well as story missions, but you don't, it's a farming issue.

    Gotcha.

Clue for you - You aren't everyone, and your playstyle, preferences and practices are not everyone else's. You should probably get that through your head.

I do this. I do this regularly. This can be part of my playstyle on some characters. It is not a farming issue. Just because YOU don't get it does not make it "fringe" or "A farming issue." This affects *me.* Whether I farm, or play a random story mission, or run through one a friend wants me to look at (which these days is rare, as most of them have given up on making story arcs due to the nerfs and patches breaking things, or just left the game.) If this doesn't work, one of my tools - especially on lower level characters - is gone.

If it's a bug, I want it fixed.

If it's a stealth nerf, it's enough on top of every other nerf they've passed along to finally make another whole area of the game (AE) as dead to me as PVP is. Which means not just not using it myself, but warning others away from it.
