I would like to see QOL fixes made, but not at the expense of no content. As said before that's a bad idea for business reasons. What I would like see done most are the lore/proofreading fixes done. That could be a .5 issue (I think) or done as part of a major issue. To my mind they really need to be done because these problems reflect poorly on the quality of the game. Base fixes and everything else I am willing to wait on as they trickle out as long as they are on the 'to do' list and not swept under the rug.
Note: By lore fix I don't mean totally write Statesman and Sister Psyche out of the game as if they never existed and replace existing badges. In my opinion that's an appalling lore problem that needs to be fixed before it goes live and is an example of what not to do. -
Quote:For good stories look for 4-star ratings. Farms generally end up with the 5s, whereas a good story typically averages out at 4 after varying reviews of 3,4,5. Also, try the AE forum where people post their actual stories for good suggestions of what to play.To make arcs or to play them?
I do try to play AE arcs. I find that the ratings in the game are useless - 5 stars typically just means a farm.
So I have to search for SFMA (story focused mission arc) in the in-game search or go to the AE board and look for arcs people have posted.
There are a lot of great stories in AE, it is too bad that more people don't play it.
For me the main reason I don't play it more is that it isn't good for teams. I am torn between wanting to play mission arcs, read the stories, read the clues and really get into it, and joining a team that just blasts through content.
You can always try mine: The All-Seeing Eye 57352 -
Quote:Excellent! It's perfect for my new Statesmen's Pals SG.
Paragon, a new Chest Emblem that all Heroes and Villains can proudly wear.
(Statesman will always be in our hearts, even if you take the badge away.) -
Quote:We ran it last night started with almost 4 full teams end with 5 full teams. For us we split the duty for league setup and tactics doing both last night for half the raid was work I'm not used to. It still ran smoothly.
Raiders remember a thank you goes a long way, it's why I thank my SG partner every time we team for a great session.
That said thanks Rex for hosting this past Saturday.
And as always Thanks Steele for being one of the greatest SG co commander ever
AV
Thanks, Valor. I feel the same. I really enjoy cohosting.
Last night I brought a level 46, anticipating holding league leadership for handling the logistics of the league. Unfortunately whenever I tried to transfer team leadership to Valor it bugged league leadership where neither of us had league leadership, despite the league leadership star remaining with me and him getting the team leadership. I had to quit and rejoin, thus bumping league leadership to him.
I won't do that again, I promise. Any MSRs we host in the future I will always bring a 50. It's easier with me handling invites and team juggling while he handles the cat herding. Yeah, one of us could do both (and have in the past), but we work well as a team sharing the load. I can bring my now level 47 blaster to one of Noyjitat's or Ukase's raids if I want to raid that character again. Generally I bring my 50s for the Grai Matters and it's never been an issue before.
See y'all same Bat-time, same Bat-channel. -
If compensation were to be made a double xp weekend would be fine by me. Also fine and of minimal up front cost would be one super pack credited to each account --- that's points, but it also serves as advertising for all the folk that haven't tried them yet and could reap more profit in long-term sales.
I don't think compensation is needed unless the outage is pretty severe. I've never seen an actual outage that long here. The only thing that bad was the several week long period awhile back where East Coast servers were all but unplayable because of IP problems (not on the player end). -
I don't see downtime as a significant problem here. Only once have I felt that Paragon Studios (then NCSoft) should have done something to compensate players for what was then a weeks long period of nearly unplayable east coast servers. That kind of thing is severe enough to lend itself to doing something to make up for the loss.
Weekly maintenance, occasional patches, and only major downtime during major updates is par for the course.
By comparison another MMO that launched recently was down every frapping day for weeks, unscheduled maintenance, out of the blue 'we're taking the server down' maintenance. There I didn't feel entitled, but I sure didn't stay. -
Quote:This, except I hoard the ATOs as well. I'm a hoarder, if there were a TV show for COH hoarders I'd have an episode. I've probably spent 3,000 or so reward merits and I'm-not-counting influence on converters. I could sell it all, but I don't really enjoy marketing. I enjoy setting up my SGs with phat lewt and giggling when my friends use it. I get to see their characters shine and we can run on insane difficulty levels. This, pretty much. I have NEVER made my money by selling purple or PvP IOs, so as you might expect, what converters have allowed me to do is hoard hundreds of purple and PvP IOs for future characters. I made no actual money from converters, but I used them a lot.
I've been making a lot of money from ATOs though.
I love converters because now I rely on the market even less. I only need it to fill in the holes, because I either get as drops or convert or buy with merits most everything I need now. -
Quote:I consider them server events, but as with any team or league the leader is in charge. Consistency is nice, but IMO each raid leader has to make the call on that for their own raids, just as they do for tactics. It's not just a server event, it's their event as well because they're hosting it.Are we, as a server, ever going to draw a line in the sand regarding the lowest level that we'll allow to participate in the msr?
Last week, we saw a level 1 show up. @noyjitat asked them to bring something else. Still - are we going to leave this up to the raid leader - where different leaders have different opinions on which level it should be?
Is the msr considered a "server event", or just a zone event? Either way, under that rationale, anyone that can get there should be allowed to participate.
When I'm forming a MSR league I will not accept level 1s. Below level 35 it's hard to meaningfully contribute to a MSR, but some ATs and powersets can. I make a judgement call and have grown more skeptical on this as I see more and more people abusing MSRs as a PL opportunity. If you want to be sure of an spot bring a 35+. Before I commit to a hard line on level I want to talk to American Valor who runs raid tactics. I handle league formation and management. Whom to invite falls under both.
(One-time Exception: My SG the Sentinels of Liberty run by American Valor hosted a special 2xp weekend MSR that was advertised as open regardless of level. We arranged ahead of time for enough 50s and were thrilled when a few more showed up in addition to us.)
I absolutely will not accept leeches in my league. I've kicked for this and will continue doing it. When I do this the player goes on global ignore and I put a player note and one-star rating over their head so I never invite them again. -
Quote:If they'd just roll back the nerfs I'd be thrilled. It so fundamentally changed the rhythm of playing the set I had to set aside my Inv/EM tank for a year to get used to it. Even after a few respecs I still couldn't recapture the old fun. I'm enjoying her again, but I had to forget how I played her and learn the combat chain pacing anew.Knight: I love Energy Melee too, and I'd hate to see them fundamentally change the set, but there is a reason that there have been enough complaints about the set that the devs are supposedly seriously looking into it and plan changes.
It needed a slight nerf back in the heyday, but a lot of people feel it was over-nerfed. It just needs a little re-balancing--and there are some potentially really fun ways to do that!
I LOVE this fix. It keeps the basic look of the set, keeps the "big hits" feel, addresses AOE and helps tanks with aggro, ads variety so that it isn't just kind of the same attack twice, isn't a big buff, just a tweak, and it would be FUN!!!
(telepathically implanting this into the minds of the devs a la Inception...)
The set does alright in single target, but it's woeful in AOE damage. Exemping below ET and TF it's just plain painful. When Inherent Brawl and Punch are an integral part of your attack chain until late game there's a problem. -
Teleportation - I use Recall Friend on any character I can afford the power slot.
Medicine - Aid Other, Heal Self, and Rescusitate (at least the first two) on most blasters, my widow, and any defender w/o a heal
Fighting - Punch or Kick, Tough, Weave on most melee characters
Flight - Hover on most squishies, Fly on nearly every character
Jumping - Combat Jumping - on Brutes, Rad/Fire/Fire blaster, and Widow
Speed - Hasten - on Inv/EM tank, Widow, Rad/Rad defender -
Quote:Thanks, I run Aion (or was, it's not worth it to keep this turkey) as well and it was there. Not anymore! If you have it (which, if you're just running COH, you probably don't,) Control panel - add/remove programs (or programs and features.)
However, this should have nothing to do with that.
That explains what the PMB.exe that was eating up memory in Task Manager was. And now... smoother sailing already.
Edit: Playing Aion isn't worth my COH crashing and everything else slowing down. I get a stupid error message when I bring up the launcher, but I cancel out of the Aion updater and then launch COH. -
How do you get it off your machine? My machine has been running like crap for a day now and COH isn't stable, it crashes, lags, fits and starts, and even running the launcher crashes more often than I can get into the game.

Leave my energy blaster alone!
The set works well if you know how to play it. Your KB is my KD because I use a simple trick, easily repeated. I call it 'Hover'. -
Quote:Personal lairs could also make use of the existing SG portal and list UI.Bases as old system. Lairs as new system. Works for me.
Lairs as personal housing. Or as special rooms that can also be attached to existing non-PvP ready bases? Awesome! (Especially if lairs had the benefit of new tilesets, non-cubic geometry, and windows to thematic deep exteriors--i.e. convincing orbital observation decks, undersea portholes, etc etc.)
Also, if they could figure out how to add one little bitty item to existing bases that one item should be a door. That door, universally accessible like the Vault, should go to your personal lair. You shouldn't need an SG to access it, but for us RPers it sure would be nice if you could access it through the SG base. -
Quote:What Samuel Tow said as well as this:
The problem is that this breeds a very real sense of cynicism in people who are prone to being cynical, such as myself. Rather than outrage me and spur me into action, what the SSAs have managed to accomplish is ensure I don't give a rat's *** about any of the game's canon characters any more. I refuse to be invested in a character whose life can be thrown away to feed some writer's obsession with re-enacting the entirety of Countdown to Final Crisis.
Statesman's death? Shocking and touching, because of the time and story investment in the character and the rarity of the fatal consequences. Sister P's death? To a lesser degree, but the same.
Running the DA arcs and yet more people dying? I'm starting to not care, even though I really like the overall DA storyline.
Death! Murder! Slaughter! A dark god rises to eat the world! Yet more of the same!
/em shrug shoulders
Death loses its sting as a plot device when it's applied liberally. The death of characters we care about shouldn't become as old hat and predictable as a laugh track, otherwise it has about the same punch. -
Quote:It's probably also why they cost the same salvage.Haven't the Devs said somewhere that adding any more items to bases is actually dangerous, and may cause further problems?
I think that's why the hacked teleporters look the same as the old ones, to avoid adding any more items into the base item lists. Yes, they do something different, but they're the same physical item, so they could sidestep that issue. -
I'm of two minds on this. I'd love a better base system, but the idea of losing the bases that I've spent literally hundreds of hours working on is gut wrenching. Then there is the technical aspect of just how do you pull out and store 18 bins of stuff? I don't have enough characters to do that!
I've already lost one SG base that I built as a favor to a friend because he quit the game and passed the star to another officer who then deleted everything I did and made the SG base his own personal lair. That was only 7 or 8 hours of work, but all of my own bases were far more work. I do have 50s that I've put less time into than some of these bases.
The idea of losing all that... I'd need a padded room. I'd for sure quit the game over it. -
Quote:Maybe you can't, but I'm creative enough to find a way.Oh, they won't do that since the game's alla bout replayability. But from the RP standpoint, you you can't make a new Praetorian because the place is gone. You can't RP in there anything new, any character progress you had if you kept the character there for IC reasons. Maybe your character never aimed to elave Praetoria? Well, now they're dead, have fun. -_-

I collect all badges, as many as I can get without feeling like I'm beating my skull against a wall (so not all of them). I don't incorporate all of them into my story as I don't view them as in-character RP items.
The ones I choose as titles are chosen for RP reasons that do fit my character's story, such as "Destined for Valhallla" "Apocalypse Survivor" "Saved the World" and "Lord of War". In this way the badges help tell my story, but don't write it for me. -
Quote:I love vanity pets. I'm just picky about the ones I'll spend cash to acquire. In fact, given the right vanity pet I can be downright... fanatic... in my acquisition and retention efforts. I played a certain MMO for a year just because of the vanity Kitter, oops I mean kitten pet. After tomorrow I'll go back to play with my kitten ftp just to cuddle it again. (Yes, the pet came with an emote to pet it too.)There is a distinct difference between one having a lack of interest in something and one feeling like they "have" to purchase something. Your waste of bandwidth is another person's fun character idea.
To each their own.
Canines are great for some people, but for me felines rule and tiny felines are the ultimate. I want a kitten pet!!! I'm waiting to see the Lion/Liger in game before I make a decision on them.
PS: I also want my vet reward buff pets like the Light Fairy to fly and not be killable. The fairies have serious leprauchaun envy and if that little green man is found stuffed face first down a sewer I promise that I'll alibi them. -
Quote:I can haz for my tank? WIN!!!THIS JUST IN: In honor of the 10th anniversary of the Rikti War, The Paragon Market will be release the limited edition Leprerikti! This magical unkillable, untargetable, undimissable, alien pal has a +1000% bonus to taunt and a-500% stealth mod. And the great part is that EVERYONE gets one for free! Listen to it's lovable howls as is summons new friends for your character!
IN another announcement, NCSoft announced that they will be offering Lepererikti Removal Tokens for just 5000 Paragon Points or 15000 Paragons Points for Two! (This is an Account Item)

Quote:With that kind of money I think I might just buy Paragon Studios outright if that was an options.Try to find out how much the IP is. Oh to be boss.
There would be new animations...and clown summoning! Just kidding on the last.
Then there would be a Cat Mastery set, a vanity kitten pet, and a petting zoo in Atlas Park.
*runs out to buy lotto tickets*
PS: Plus a sizeable bonus for all PS employees because I just love this game so much. I figure a year's pay ought to do it. -
Well... let's just say I wouldn't be waiting on my monthly sub allotment of points!
