  1. A friend and I did WWD7 tonight on our +3 Inv/SS Tank and +3 Rad/Rad Def. I had heard from a friend who did it earlier that the last fight was disappointingly easy and we wanted an epic conclusion to the story, so we ran it up to +2/x6.

Mission 1: Back to Cimerora. It turns out that a +2 Ghost Widow and her horde of x6 is a challenge, in fact moreso than Wade-a-ru (or whatever his name is). Obviously the difficulty was a good choice!

Mission 2: Back to Warburg. Was disappointed that the tanks didn't fire and laughed out loud when Black Scorpion bit it because of the explosions. No, I didn't try to save him.

Mission 3: My jaw dropped and I gasped when I entered this mission and saw the sky ladder of battleships. The final fight was anticlimactic because of the NPCs. I could have played tiddlywinks and it wouldn't have changed anything.

Mission 4: Half an hour to find Scirocco. Gosh, that was fun. Not.

Mission 5: Heroes in spaaaaaaaaaaaaaace! Space at last, thank you devs, we are in space at last! We spent 20 minutes taking screenshots in various poses and from various angles with the moon and earth as backdrop. The fight against Rularuu was fun, because we declined the villains' help. It was epic. I never saw Penny or this hypothetical bubble at all.

Press Conference: Finally I'm the hero, because after mission three I was feeling rather sidekickish. Again. Penny's spot on the FP should be mine! I was heroing when she was learning how to put on makeup.

All the errors.... Seriously, it's time they used a handful of trusted players to play test, proofread, and give feedback. It's such a simple thing and would result in a more polished product.

I'll be repeating this arc just for the last mission, and to play Battleship. I'll speed the rest.
  2. I don't want to see the drop rate changed, but I would like to see them all stack like St Louis Slammer does. That would alleviate most problems, I think. People would be more willing to craft and use them, thus serving the inf sink the devs seem to want. A secondary recipe category of "Craftable Temps/Costumes" that didn't count toward your total or had a separate total would help a lot too.

I find the temps help an enormous amount below level 30 and some are still extremely helpful even at level 50.

The charges from the bat stack - you don't have to wait for the power to run out. You can make several at once. Some say the cap is 99 recharges, but I've got one character who has 570 charges.

Unfortunately none of the rest of the craftables work that way. You have to wait for those to run out and make them again.

I love craftable temps and use at least some on all my characters. My favorite ones are the stun and hand grenades, plasmatic taser, and envenomed dagger (-regen). The jet packs are great for characters w/o a travel power. Keep a jet pack for using after your 2 hr purchaseable one from FBZ/Grandville to use until you get back to buy a new one. Kinetic Dampener is great for any character that hasn't capped out their S/L resist when you really need the extra resist. You can never go wrong with a self heal or +recov or ally rez or summonable pet.

    Y u no pets!

I've never kicked anyone for not having X power, but I still expect them to do their job. I expect a tank to tank, a defender to defend, a mastermind to run their pets, etc... Sometimes you can do that without the tools that others expect if you're just that good. Sometimes you can't - Clear Mind is an example of a power that you just can't compensate for the lack. You either have and use it or you don't.

In a choice between two same power set characters I'd take the one that has the tools over the one that doesn't because they're not handicapped straight out of the gate.

If a player really shines or really sucks I'll make a player note and star them that way I'll see the rating stars over their head regardless of what toon they're playing. (Options > General > Player Rating > Show Always; right click on the character or character name and 'edit note'.)

It's your sub and your character, build and play as you wish. Just realize that everyone else is doing the same and that 'as they wish' includes the choice of whom to team and whom not to team with.

Gremlins on a Dom? Meh.... I wouldn't have been looking at your pets anyway, but how much control you were laying out. If the control is there I wouldn't care less whether you had Gremlins or not.

PS: I build for concept and RP. I totally get that. I'd still never build an empath without buffs unless it was a solo build.
  5. Thanks for the clarification. I bought points/tokens for Celestial and Fire and Ice as well. I am such a sucker.

    Is it justified?

I think charging for some things is justified. As an earlier poster pointed out we've gotten more completely new powerset options, some free and some paid, in the last year than we did in the previous seven. That's the power of profit reinvested. As long as there are at least as many 'free' sets as there are 'paid' I won't feel ripped off. The idea behind the paid for stuff was to finance more development. To my mind 1 paid = 1 free for that reason.

Costume parts... now that's getting a little out of hand because there's far more paid than free, and quality is an becoming an issue. But that's another thread.

Note: I bought Titan Weapons, Beam Rifle, and Street Justice. I have no interest at all in Beast Summoning. I also use Time Manipulation and no interest in Darkness Control.

    More options is good.
  7. As a friend said just last night, "As long as they owe me the points they promised me I won't be buying anything else."

I'm thinking he's right on this one.

I admit it. I bought a long sub for those upfront points just like he did. I've bought points since. His words reminded me that a fool and his money are soon parted and I'm feeling pretty foolish.

Yes, I know that those points will arrive in bits every month and that if I'd gotten them all upfront I wouldn't receive them monthly... that doesn't change the fact that to buy Titan Weapons and Superpacks now I had to fork over more money.

I understand the tech may be the problem and it may be hard to fix, even expensive, but the thing is... how hard is too hard when the Mystic 8-ball approach discourages customers from parting with their cash?

    Oh, another thing.

Also noticed, if we (the duo) complete the current mission, that is, MY mission, and mine automatically jumps to the next in the story (ie, without having to call contact, accecpt mission) that nearly every time....my friends mission would have NO location.

It would be in her mission list 'Kill XXX' and just have a blank spot where it usually says 'Whatever Zone.' With this additional bug, it actually makes it impossible to then enter her mission..even if she wanted to, in order to get the badge.

Seen this bug a LOT recently, especially when stacking mission arcs with friend. Some poor person even had in in the Mender Ramiel arc..her trapdoor mission had no location to enter.
    I
A friend and I had the same issue in the Trapdoor mission last night.

I don't care how many converters it takes... I'm happy to say "screw you" to the power marketeers who dominate the market.
  10. This is my favorite issue since Striga. That's saying something! I adore the soloable Incarnate Path.

One thing though, this *should* be a true level 50 incarnate zone, but until it's level gated and VIP only it won't be.
  11. Good news! I have Strappy Heels again!

My updated petition reached the Lead GM and he explained that for awhile there was a bugged store redirect that when you wanted to purchase the heels it actually put the shirt in your cart leading to purchasing the wrong item. (At least if I understand it right.) My purchase fell in that time window and he gave the heels back to me.

    It's time to go dance!

    /em discodance

I'm really pleased this was resolved! My friend who actually bought the entire costume pack was more upset about this than I was. I can't wait to tell him that it's fixed.
  12. I did:

    5 Mothership Raids (3 Liberty, 1 Virtue, 1 Guardian)
    4 ITFs (2 Liberty, 2 Virtue)
    5 Moonfires (4 Liberty, 1 Exalted)
    1 Citadel (Liberty)
    2 Keyes (Virtue)
    1 BAF (Virtue)
    1 Lambda (Virtue)

    And some mission teaming.

It's been years since I played like this for 2XP.

The "constant, irritating sound" problem is something I'd thought the art team had learned to solve about four years ago when they killed nearly all persistent sounds for power toggles. Dark Armour used to make my ears bleed, Forcefields sounded like a constant whale song and I still have nightmares about the Targeting Drone.

Then came Demon Summoning, and the exact problem you describe happened... And is still happening to this day. Demons are constantly grunting and growling. I wonder if we need another blow-out flame war over it to get someone's attention and please just kill the repetitive background noise that's out of our control.
I **hate** Demon Summoning because of this and wish I could muzzle those things. The Umber Beast isn't quite as bad, probably because it's only one wolf, and because barking doesn't hit my disgust-o-meter as hard as the grunting and snarling of the Demons. I still won't stand next to a Demons MM or Dark Controller because of their annoying pets.

I'm dreading the advent of Beast Summoning.

Probably not the intended visceral response because it can't be good for sales. I know I'm not buying. It's a shame because I was looking forward to real pets.

    Missing Shoes!

As he said, I have the same problem. I bought them piecemeal, rather than as a set, and have now lost them.
  16. I'd been on a team with a darkness troller for about 30 seconds when I decided, "Nope, never gonna make one."
  17. They're gone until next year according to the Senior GM who responded to my petition. Anyone who wants them is going to have to wait.... *grrrrr*
  18. Now I wish I'd kept the receipts.... I've bought so much from this and two other microtransaction games, but this is the first time it has ever been an issue.

NOTE: I keep the receipts only so long as to be sure I got what I paid for. Needless to say, I'll never delete any receipt ever again.
  19. Yesterday I wanted to modify my "Club" outfit (top, mini, heels). The character creator invalidates the heels. The heels are nowhere to be found in the costume creator. I double and triple check and compare with a friend to be sure I'm not imagining it. No, they're not there and my friend has them.

I file a bug report and a petition. The petition response, which I am paraphrasing so as not to violate the forum rules, says that there was a bug where if you bought the casual dress shirt you got the heels for free. They fixed the bug and say that since I bought the shirt and got the heels via the bug they've been removed.

Except... I never bought the shirt. I don't like it. I specifically *only* bought top, mini, heels, jeans, and hair.

Heels won't be available again until next year. I was told I can buy them then.

I'm mad and have a right to be. A piece I paid for is gone. My friend who bought the entire pack still has it. I believe I have been screwed by this 'bug fix' because I bought piecemeal.

If you paid for costume parts piecemeal make sure that you didn't lose yours. If you did, please post. If you didn't, also please post. I'd like to gather some information on this. If it appears that everyone who bought piecemeal has been affected perhaps this could encourage them to look at the issue again. If it is only me... that's annoying and frustrating to me, but hardly game breaking.

Note: The casual shirt shows in the costume creator. It's still ugly. I still didn't buy it. I wonder if their 'fix' did that?
  20. Just as an FYI, the Obsidian Operations SG on Exalted didn't do this to ruin things for you. Like you they were founding a new branch on Exalted, but from Liberty. Their SG there is also "Obsidian Operations".

My SG also formed an offshoot on Exalted and found 'their' name taken, and as in your case it was taken by an SG from another server with an identical name. In our case that SG originated from Freedom. Instead of Sentinels of Liberty we became Sentinels of Liberty Forever. Then we allied with the Sentinels of Liberty who seem to be pretty nice people.

One of the perils of creating a new server is that names aren't always unique and whoever claims it first gets it.

Best of luck in your new home. Let's all have fun out there!
  21. Where did the price come from? That's easy!

I played another NC Soft game with a microtransaction store (and which officially goes ftp on 4/11/12). The game shall remain nameless since you can't name other MMOs in forum threads.

In that store pets ran between $8 (vanity, no extras) and $15 (it did something useful).

This pet is a vanity pet with a very minor buff, IE: worth a bit more than $8... so $10.

    /em pass

I paid for the vanity kitten pet. It played, it mewed, it scratched at your foes, and you got an emote to pet it. I even played the game for a year with my little kitten running at my side, which totally made the difference in making the game "meh" and worth playing for me.

I'd pay for THAT again, but I won't pay for this. I'm not offended, but I can't help but wonder what the response would be if this was a stereotyped Kwaanza pet.

This. I've already got enough on my 'wish list' to use up my points for the next two years. I've bought extra points to encourage future development, but I won't pay for something that I think should be included in VIP.

    Extra storage? Yes.
    Power customization? No.

Like they did for Inner Inspiration?

I'm not suggesting Leprauchaun be changed. I didn't say that. I'm saying it was a bad idea, period.
  24. I was in the character creator and realized I couldn't enter the tutorial, so I saved the costume. Whew, would have been sad if I'd lost that.
  25. Obviously these are meant for multiboxing gold farmers. The gold farmers are going to love these little guys. Park the bots at the door with their leprachauns while one toon clears the map.

    WTH are they thinking?!?!

Edit/PS: Yes, I meant Gold Farmers, not just players who do their own inf farming. I meant the ones who farm inf and sell it for real money. You know, the ones that are against EULA. They're going to get more use out of these things than any other segment of the playerbase. I can't help but think this pet is a really poor idea. XP boosters are temporary. This thing is a one-time purchase with no expiration or limitation.
