Come on, the build can't be THAT bad.
-
While /SR is a great secondary I can' t recommend EM/ anymore. The big hitters are too slow to be enjoyable and an EM/WP-Brute was my only lvl 50 character that has been deleted so far.

Hello everyone,
after playing different SD-Characters for several months, I came to the conclusion that it's time for me to try something new.I decided in favor of a Fiery Melee/Stone Armor Brute because I've never played a Stone Armor character to a significant level.
My goals with this character build are:
- maximum durability through almost capped S/L-resistance and S/L-defense
- the nullification of stone armor's movement penalty
- gapless attack chain without being reliant on hasten or purple sets
Do you see any mistakes?

Try this build. I've used it extensively for several months and I'm still very happy with it. But it does not fit your requirements because it does not include parry and BS/SD is so strong that I never had to care about attack chains.

Quote:Sorry, but psychic damage, despite it's common description as being 'rare,' is a common damage type. Rikti, lost, carnies, and arachnos all use it regularly. On the plus side, they are used by specific enemies within those groups. For those vulnerable like invulnerability, the better way of dealing with these targets is to simply take them out first, and use whatever soft controls you have. (Knockback/knockdown, stuns, etc.)
I don't want to see us descending into one of those "Yes, it is. - No, it isn't. - Yes, it is. - No, it isn't..."-discussions, so I'll restrict myself to one point: Every time I run a mission that contains one of the enemy groups you've listed, I do absolutely not care about psionic attacks, but I do care about getting hit by man-sized energy swords, poisonous giant spider robots, mace wielding super assassins or self-duplicating circus directors. -
How is it displayed?
Does an opponent take 200 Energy + 200 Smash Damage when he's inside of two radii or does he take 100 Energy + 100 Smash + 100 Energy + 100 Smash damage?
I ask this because I've only seen constant damage numbers so far. Because of the powers pet nature the exact numbers are not displayed in the combat log, so I have to believe the orange numbers above the opponents heads and those numbers are constant. But if they were hit with the same damage value multiple times I might have missed that. -

My best Wall Runner is a Shield/Superstrength/Pyre-Tanker.
Willpower/Superstrength/Pyre-Tankers are not bad either, but Shield Charge increases the speed dramatically. -
Sorry, but having one lvl 2 character on a server is not the profound wealth of experience that is required to rate that servers community. But YMMV. (EDIT: Ok, I have to admit: The Atlas Park and Peregrine Island broadcasting channels are sometimes a little bit retarded but definitely not on a WoW-X-Roads-Chat lvl)
Btw: The OP is the only person in a long time period reporting his problems with such "special" player attitude on the tanker forums. That leads me to the impression that he's overrating the social behaviour of some of his team mates. As Fireheart already said, he should stop listening to the trolls. -
-
Much better now. :-) I have only one more advice: Try to add the Theft of Essence: Chance of +Endurance-IO to Dark Regeneration. That would help alot with DA/Superstrengths severe endurance issues.
And don't be too afraid of Energy Damage. Your other mitigation tools are so strong that you can survive the random energy user whom every villain group has in its ranks. -
Although your power choices are very good, you have made a big mistake: Your largest endurance consumers (Footstomp, Dark Regeneration and Death Shroud) lack sufficient Endurance Reduction .
-
That is not a 200 million inf build.
You used some of the good and cheap sets, but I see several LotG: +Rech IOs, a full Set of ToD, a Mircale +Rec and some Impervium Armor IOs. The proposed build would cost almost a billion inf or more.
(And I don't like the slotting, but I don't have the time to make a better one at the moment. Hopefully I can post one tomorrow.) -
Forget what I said. I've done some testing with my Shield/Superstrength tanker on a +2/x8-Council map. And for the first time since lvl 26 I didn't use Shield Charge as my opening move, so there were enough minions left after my alpha strike to let the Force Feedback Proc in Foot Stomp (regular recharge Time 10 seconds) show its strength. It was better than good.
-
Dual Blades. Why? It's different and WP is a rather "passive" Primary which makes an "active" Secondary desirable. And Dual Blades is the most active Secondary I can imagine.
-
Don't get me wrong. I use it on two of my tanks. But it is not as hot as it looks on the paper.
-
Don't expect too much from the Force Feedback Proc:
http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Force_...or_%2BRecharge -
Your build is great until lvl 41. Although it looks like a good idea to stack Invoke Panic with CoF, the long recharge time of Invoke Panic makes this approach inefficient.
My advice is that you should drop the entire presence pool, add OG (it's a great power with just one Accuracy-IO) and Taunt slotted with four Mocking Beratement-IO's (giving you 1.8 Endu and 2.5% S/L-Def). The last power would be a pure quality of life choice like Soul Transfer or Conserve Power.
Btw: It's great to see another DA/FM Tanker.Mine was the only one I've ever seen since the introduction of this combo.
-
Shame on you Scrapper Board! I just broke my oath to never ever make a Superstrength-character again because of this thread.
-
-
These 5% are wasted IMO. SR has a 90% or 95% def-debuff-resistance (stupid word), so any Debuffs are barely noticeable. My SR-Scrapper is running his missions with 46% Defense to all positions and his Defense never went below 44%, even when fighting enemies like the Positron Automaton.
But the important point is that you should try to fight even-conning Heroes/AVs. That makes a big difference. And because of the random nature of SR it's always possible that you need several attempts to solo an AV. -
Quote:1. The defensive softcap is 45%, not 50%.Hey there, my Dark/SR Brute just hit 50 and I tried to solo AVs, after pushing him to softcap with about 50% def against all positions, but i did not manage to take down Indigo on lvl 52.
She just hit through my def like a hot knife through butter.
So here´s my question: Is it managable to take down AVs with /SR?
Or is it just just this one with the incredible dmgoutput that laughs at me?
2. You tried to solo a +2 AV. Nobody does that. "Soloing AVs" means "Soloing even-level AVs" on these forums.
3. It is managable to take down AVs with /SR. -
You can find the damage caps here: http://cityofheroes.wikia.com/wiki/Limits.
The maximum bonus for scrapper is 400%.
