  1. In an unrelated (to the topic) musing, I started labs in phlebotomy today. Fun times.

  3. Taunt, Fault, Tremor, and ST gauntlet for aggro.

I pretty much just ignore the Taunt component of RTTC, because the only way a character is not going to pull aggro off of RTTC is if they're not on the map yet.

Thankfully, next level you'll be able to pull off the most awesometastic aggro/mitigation combo available with Fault->Tremor, which not only taunts the mobs you hit, but keeps them on their butts for most of the fight. Generally in that order, and with a short pause in between. Keeps the stunned mobs from wandering too much after Fault, and the short pause allows them to start getting up so you can knock them flat again.

These days? I'm finding that I'm champing at the bit for slots. Slots slots slots. So many power choices and I have so few slots to work with before level 35 or so.

    Interesting how things change.
This is it for me as well. I think it primarily comes from how quickly the low levels go for me now with all the improvements. The 3 powers not going to fitness are quite often attacks to build a better early attack chain.

Unfortunately that means a lot more of my characters are getting abandoned in the early 30's as opposed to the early 20's like they used to.

Agreed. Some mystery is good, but too much is a bad thing, which is why I stopped watching Lost.

I think you underestimate the awesomeness of Energy Drain. More slots!
  8. ((Agreed. Had a really good time.))

The train pulled to a stop at the Founder's Fall station and the three teammates got off. Jenny, having long since changed into street clothes, led the way with a bag of groceries in each hand. Chip followed with a couple cases of beer, and Adam brought up the rear, loaded down with enough groceries to slow a horse.

She led them across the street, and along a winding route of bridges and walkways, all the while chatting about the evening's work. It was something of a one-sided conversation as the other's tried to keep track of where they were. Eventually, they just gave up.

Coming to a stop outside a row of townhouses she turned to the others, "Well here we are. You guys wait here a minute, I'm just going to... uh, tidy up some... things."

As she headed inside, Chip and Adam looked around. It was a nice neighborhood. Really nice. Not someplace they expected to find someone so young.

Chip looked to Adam who had something of a puzzled look on his face, "Underwear, probably."

The look persisted a moment, before disappearing as he blushed, "Oh... oh! I see."

That was the last of the talking. They didn't wait long before Jenny came back out and waved them to come in. Chip made it just inside the door before stopping to stare.

The house was gorgeous. Hardwood floors, original mouldings, the works. It beat the hell out of her old apartment. "This is 'your' place?"

"Yep. Inherited it from my folks."

Chip relaxed a bit, and finally let Adam in. "Wow, nice digs."

"Thanks. Kitchen's just through there," she said, pointing down the hallway leading off the entrance. "We'll get this stuff put away and I'll give you the grand tour. I hope you like stairs."

    Character: Moxie Girl

  10. I liked it for the most part. It had some of the usual problems, but it was entertaining enough that I'll watch the next episode.
  11. The first bit is Moxie Girl's in-game bio, the rest a short bit on her recruitment by Max.

On the streets of Perez Park, shortly before nightfall...

    "Hey princess! You forgot something!"

Jenny rolled back to her feet, snatching up the Hellion's pistol as she went and whipped the butt end across his jaw. She watched the blood and teeth spray across the hood of a car as he dropped to the asphalt.

"Now where did..." she mused out loud as she glanced around looking for this one's partner. She saw him slipping over the wall, heading deeper into the park. "Gotcha."

She took off at a dead run, vaulting onto the roof of one car, and then over the wall in an impressive acrobatic display, or at least she thought so. The ten or so Hellions waiting for her didn't seem to impressed.

They were starting to pull various weapons and trying to look menacing. She looked at them and smiled sweetly, "So boys, you gonna take me all at once, or take turns."

The biggest of the bunch chuckled and stepped forward. He wasn't laughing after his knee was kicked in and his jaw broken a second later.

    "So, who's next?"

    Later that night...

Jenny pulled her coat close against the cold wind as she walked towards her townhouse. After that last fight, the walk gave her time to clear her head and calm her nerves.

She crossed the street, casually giving the finger to a driver honking at her, and climbed the steps to the door. As she rummaged in her bag for her keys she heard a car door open and shut on the street behind her.

The reflection in the glass of the door showed her a black limosine, and a single man walking towards her. He stopped at the bottom of the steps and she tensed, ready for a fight.

"Miss, I think you should come with me."

The statement caught her off guard. She'd been expecting an attacker, not some pathetic rich guy looking for a cheap trick. At that, she felt a little offended.

"And I think you should head down to the Redlight district for that sort of thing before I break something the doctor's can't fix." She turned to face him, seeing him for the first time.

Tall, dark, and... old, maybe. It was hard to tell. What wasn't hard to see was that he was built like a tank. The more she observed him, the more doubt grew in her mind about whether she should fight, or run.

He smiled, "Ah, no, I think you misunderstand my intentions. My name is Maximillian Gold. You've heard of me, yes?"

She nodded. Maximillian Gold was a big hitter among the heroes of the city. He led a team of mutant heroes, saving the world as easy as Jenny took down muggers.

"Good. I'm in need of new... talent. The situation in Paragon City is only getting more chaotic, and I'm putting together a new team to help out. I want you on that team Miss Miller."

That stunned her like a bat to the head. It took her a moment to recover and spout the only half-serious objection she could come up with. "You really think I can handle it?"

"Of course. I'm well aware of your parent's enhancements, and your own special abilities." He pulled a Blackberry from his pocket and set it on the bottom step. "I'll call with a time and place. You'll meet the others there. Welcome aboard."

She watched as he walked to the limo and got into the back; staring as it rolled down the street towards the exit to Talos Island. Didn't even wait to hear you say yes, cocky ******* ain't he.

"Why yes, I'd love to join your new team and save the world, and puppies, and help old ladies cross the street. Golly gosh!" She shook her head as she stooped to pick up the phone and slipped it into her bag.

He may have presumed, but he guessed right. There was no way she would say no to that kind of action, or that kind of opportunity. With Gold Corp. resources, she might even be able to find some new leads on her parents.

With one last glance in the direction of the limo, she unlocked her door and headed in as a soft glow began to spread across the horizon.

Don't worry, I brought plenty of extra angst to fuel the Drama-tron for days!!

Still no Street Justice for Moxie Girl, so she'll be WM/WP until it gets here. The character is coming along nicely, a good mix of 'innocent schoolgirl' and kick-you-down-a-flight-of-stairs-when-your-back-is-turned violent.

I like the idea behind Chip. Her power is... ridiculous, but I think that's the whole point. I think she'd get along just fine. Or perhaps not, given the jaded personality. Either way, look forward to meeting her.

    Trailer > Movie

Cursed, with Christina Ricci. As near as I can tell, the trailer was made from an early version of the film, and then most of it was reshot, since most of the trailer footage was so different from the movie.

Both sucked, so no need to watch in either case.
  14. You may have to wait until the new mids update actually comes out before you see a lot of builds with powersets that aren't in the current mids build. Hopefully it will be out soon.
  15. A good episode and a good start to the season.
  16. Now, now, if anyone's going to get a crippling case of concept flip-flop-itis it's going to be me.

  18. Forum ate the first post, huzzah, so to summarize:

I liked the show, thought Caviezel was excellent as both the 'wounded everyman' and the 'hardened killer', and liked that though the back story is still unknown to a large extent, the story was kept relatively simple (indicating Abrams was not at all involved in its construction).

You needed to have a character on the server, but the name check function worked fine with, or without, an open slot. I used it extensively for the Virtue Name Watch, and for coming up with names for new characters.

I would really like them to put it back, while leaving the new creation one as well, as the ability to reserve a free name is cool beans. Being unable to effectively check names on a server simply because you have no free slots kinda blows, as much as needing to make a new character just for the purpose of checking names on a different server.

Edit: So basically, could we get the ability to check names on a server regardless of whether we have no characters there, or are full up.
  21. Don't know if any of you are planning to check this out, but Person of Interest begins tonight. JJ Abrams executive producer, Jonathon Nolan writing/producing, with Jim Caviezel and Michael Emerson starring. From what little I can gather from IMDB and a few commercials, its based on the premise of stopping crime before it happens, much like Minority Report (and yes, while I mention Minority Report I am aware that there are other sci-fi properties that use a similar premise and are perhaps more apt as a comparison, no need to get so testy... seriously, calm down).

Aside from a giant billboard on my way to school/work, the action scenes with Jim Caviezel look particularly promising and he and Emerson are usually great in whatever they're in. Now to see what kind of Abrams product we get, or how involved he is for that matter.

    The preview is here.
  22. Are there enemies in range to fuel Invincibility?
  23. I hate threads like this, because after reading them I always have to go and make the build in-game.

Edit: Well, I did roll a BR/Time corruptor that I'm enjoying. I do anticipate many deaths while playing the Disintegrate 'mini-game'. If/when I roll a BR blaster I'll either go /Devices, which I enjoy from a lack of attacks perspective, giving me more time to blast with my primary, or /Energy which would work with the cones and provide early Build-up.

I've been finding /Energy to my go-to choice of late for 'Natural' blasters, skipping the melee attacks and simply making the most of the utility that the set offers in conjunction with my primary. Fewer options can be a nice thing on occasion.
