    Pedants Rule!

    [/ QUOTE ]
    You used incorrect capitalisation there!
  2. [ QUOTE ]
I guess I am the only one who thinks that having posts about I14 and even I15 the day after I13 is launched means I13 is quite poor overall, despite some efforts to put lipstick on the pig.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Depends which posts you mean; there don't seem to be any of them at all in this thread, and the only thread I can find in General Discussion refers to I15 and was started before I13 went live.

There are some I14 threads in Suggestions, but then again it's hardly surprising suggestions will be pitched for future releases.

[...] that is incorrect and is the core of what I'm saying.
We're not equal at all. Those who can play for umpteen hours per day and are happy to endlessly farm have a distinct advantage over those of us who dont.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Unless they make IO perks completely ineffective in PvP (and from what I've read the I13 changes do make them less of an irresistible force) that has been the case and always will be the case.

If massive grinding can earn significant advantages and some people are prepared to do that, whether there's one build, two builds or ten builds available per toon the grinders will come out with the edge.

If we take that as a given, I can't see how the non-grinders having an extra build option will make a difference - to relative PvP performance - one way or another.

Outside of PvP some people will find it useful for other purposes, though.

    [ QUOTE ]
What sparked this off for me was my realisation that their insight is so limited they cant see that giving us dupe versions of chars and no dupe enhancemence is so counter productive to what they want to achieve in giving us this content in the first place.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Or perhaps they've seen something you haven't? Or are even looking in a different direction altogether?

Why immediately decide the disagreement must be down to their "limited insight" when there may be a whole range of other factors involved?

    [ QUOTE ]
In a few months this game is gonna see its subs torn like never before. Them focusing on stuff like this while they should have been actually creating innovations to match the new games coming out is a big reason this games going to feel like a tornadoes been whooshing through it.

    [/ QUOTE ]
You sure you don't want to reconsider that "I'm not a doomster" assertion?
  4. Yeah, that one got me last night too.

Slight consolation - on the Known Issues list, item 12, so hopefully they'll be getting a fix out soon.

    account lockout

Petitioning Support via the Knowledge Base pages is always an option; if there's a problem at database and/or account level they're the only ones that can deal with it.

We might be able to help with other types of problem, but would need more details than "account lockout" to know. What isn't working, in what way, and when did this start?
  6. Ongoing (although not actually any more informative) discussion here.

I think this is the crux of your argument, LB:

    [ QUOTE ]
Ultimately, the whole point to a game like this is to advance your alt as far as the game will let you.

    [/ QUOTE ]
With which (naturally ) I'd disagree - I play the game for the experience of trying out new powers for a particular AT and powerset combo. When a toon reaches 50 I've no interest at all in eking out every last ounce of performance by kitting it out with minimaxed sets up uber IOs - the occasional TF run aside I just forget about it and switch to another alt.

On the way to 50 I'll slot IO sets if I spot something handy-looking available at the AH, but that's a means to an end, not the end in itself.

With that in mind I'll find the dual build system handy - some ATs/sets can have usefully different builds for (for example) soloing and teaming, so as well as adding a bit of variety the dual builds can make the overall process quicker. In terms of the practicalities of kitting out a dual build with IOs, I generally find that by the low 20s I'm starting to get a single build usefully slotted with IOs and accumulate a bit of spare inf besides. So beginning to slot a second build in the mid-/late-20s is looking entirely feasible.

I would like to comment on this but when i went into RV the first time it was empty.

I gave it another go abit later and aside from the tank and blaster farming turrets its was empty.

So only comment i can give is where are the huge numbers of people this was ment to bring into pvp? so far for defiant anyway its the same as always.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Those two and you? That's the entire Defiant population, so looks like the changes are working.
  9. How recently had you used the base before tonight?

There's a long standing "feature" (maybe a bug, maybe not) where a base can be powered down for the first 24 hours or so if it's been unvisited for a long time.
  10. Ah - thanks - after 10 minutes of dashing around I finally found it (I'd never stumbled across the Fight Club area before!).

The Loc bit under my profile pic applies to me in-game, as well as RL.
  11. I'm probably missing something obvious here, but isn't that badge outside the main Pocket D area? (And so only available once the Winter Event opens up?)
  12. [ QUOTE ]
    Well that just aint fair....

It's gonna be the Good Vs Evil thing all over again and we're gonna be made to pay for those pieces if we want them. Seriously...'Whats that? You've been playing almost 3 years and your last Veteran Reward was a Respec? Well good news, heres some stuff you wont get right away because Mac users are busy lording it over you and then we'll offer it to yuo for a price! We reward loyalty'

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, those damn companies going round charging people for products! How cruelly unfair is that, when everything could be free?
  13. To a limited degree, yes, but it's not as though people that want "regular" "hit 'em hard" heroes are completely stuck for powersets. There's SS and MA for the out and out punchy types, and DM, Fire, etc... for those that want to be hitty with a bit more flavour.

Plus, we got shields this time because the player base said that was the set they wanted most - the devs aren't exactly railroading us here.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
They could put an “wet towel” or an “accountancy” power set in and your comments would still be as relevant to that as they are to weapons.

    [/ QUOTE ]
As a good number of mainstream superheroes do use weapons in combat, but (AFAIK) absolutely zero use wet towels or accountancy, I'd have to say you're utterly wrong there.
  15. You may have run into the infamous, and all too common, "US updater" problem. If so, you're unintentionally trying to connect to the US servers which isn't where your new account lives.

If you have and you try following the steps in this post it should sort you out.

    Good luck!
  16. [ QUOTE ]
So are they trying deliberately to make the game like WoW? lol

"Super Booster II will be a magic-themed pack that will sit alongside the Cyborg pack very well. It will have costume pieces and other goodies that are themed for both stage magicians as well as your more traditional fantasy mages."

    [/ QUOTE ]
Just popping over to WoW to build me one of them cool Alliance Stage Magicians.

    Awesome!

Remind me to avoid that lot... they sound terrible!

    [/ QUOTE ]
They are - it's like "Kill Skuls!" all over again...they sit and leech in a quiet spot of a zone, while sending the schmuck team all over the place to grind xp for them!

Edit: Oh yes, and...top OP - nice one!
  18. Thanks for the info - which flavour of Vista did you go with in the end? 64-bit, given that you have 4GB in there?

Will be updating my system in the New Year (maybe a whole new box, maybe just strategic components) and it'd be good to hear how your setup performs so I can offload all the risk-taking in your direction.
  19. Also /unsigned

The rationale - which I agree with - is that if Fitness (for which, read "Stamina") was an inherent, End management would be such a minor issue that you might as well drop the entire stat from the game.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Now, your 'use your existing enhancements' comment depends on what you mean. We can take it two ways:

    1. You have the option to move your enhancements from one build to the other.
    2. You have the option to duplicate enhancements from one build to the other.

I'm going to assume you think option 2 is a brilliant idea. Which means you have not considered what a wonderful mechanism that is for replicating free enhancements.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Or possibly:

    3. Any enhancement used in one build can be "reused" in the second, assuming there's a suitable power to slot it in.

An enhancement used like that wouldn't be duplicated; there'd still only be the one enhancement that shows up in both builds, and if you respecced one of the builds and removed the enh it would also vanish from the other.

I can see the appeal of that at one level - for ATs where there would be a lot of power replication from build to build (blaster attacks, etc...) it would save a lot of effort.

On the other hand I suspect it'd involve an awful lot of coding; if you wanted a full blown implementation you'd need to make the "shared use" facility available every time you slotted a new enh. Not just when you levelled.
  21. Burpy Hippy MFI!

Or something like that - have a good one, FFM.
  22. Happy Birthday KQ - have a great day!
  23. [ QUOTE ]
I tend to view any status resistance is better than no status resistance

    [/ QUOTE ]
True in itself, but (without having looked at any actual numbers ) I think you'd be hard pushed to reduce sleep duration by more than 10% or so with low level IOs, even if you were going out of your way to slot for that.

Given that you come out of sleep anyway if damaged I can't see that 10% difference amounting to much in practice.

    [ QUOTE ]
added to the fact that you wouldn't have to re toggle when you came out of the sleep would make low lvl scrappers happy at least (tanks less so because there protection comes much earlier)

    [/ QUOTE ]
Perhaps more of an effect, but as it only applies to one AT over a fairly narrow level range I still wouldn't call it that big a change overall.

    No Post's....

If the "next Tuesday" guesses are correct it could be the classic "pre-Issue" holiday. Gathering strength for the storm that is to come...
  25. [ QUOTE ]
They should bring those yellow ink men back they made things interesting in the early lvls and what with IOs now offering status protection, blaster Defiance 2.0, and the new changes to toggles they wouldn't be as deadly as they once were.

    [/ QUOTE ]
TBH I can only see the new Defiance making a noticeable difference there.

IOs only offer status resistance, not protection, and very little of it at the low levels you're talking about.

And it's only melee types that do much in the way of toggles at low level, and they tend to have status protection anyway.
