So I'm not 'paying to win', I'm 'paying to kill mobs at a slightly faster rate'. OK, got it.

No, I distinctly heard 'pay2win' mentioned. What am I supposed to be winning by playing the game?

What exactly am I winning with my pay?
  4. With the Ragnarok set in Spinning Strike, Crushing Uppercut is your best bet. With that much recharge, you'll be able to have it up reliably every second combo.
  5. Mids' says recharge is 240 secs, maybe its different in Widow Training. It looks like it takes the recharge from Red Fortune too:

  6. Because nothing says 'take that, Jack' like keeping his signature character as the focal point of the game for four years after he left.

That said, switching badges is a no-no. Find a way to keep the badges and keep States and Psyche in anything pre-40, and call it a day.
  7. My current NW build is at home, I'll toss it up when I get back. As she's my redside main, I can tell you a lot about them!

Get Hasten, and slot Mind Link with several Defense/Recharge set IOs, and you will get a lot of up time on Mind Link. At that point, you ought to be very survivable. If you want, you can pick up Smoke Grenade (I did) to add a little unresistable tohit debuff to help sweeten the pot.
Mind Link actually doesn't get any recharge benefits from its own IOs. It does, however, take in all global recharge bonuses, and you'll have plenty of room to fit those in. I five-slotted Ricki's Mind Link with Red Fortunes for defense first and endurance second, and with all her other IOs and Mental Training she's running something like 165% to global recharge.

As for the damage side of things, I liked every claw attack except Dart Burst. I ended up settling on Slash, Swipe, Lunge, Evicerate, Spin, and Poison Dart. That list has more to do with what powers I like using than any attempt at optimization, but I get along just fine. I ended up choosing Build Up instead of Follow Up simply because I got tired of having to spam Follow Up all the time.
My current chain from out of Mask Presence is Slash -> Follow Up -> Lunge -> Strike -> Swipe. I'd love to take out Swipe, but everything animates so fast. And I'll advocate Follow-Up over Build Up, since that'll net you at least a constant 10% to hit and 30% to damage on top of your Tactical Training.

As far as IOs go, since you get gobs and gobs of defense just from your powers, I think your first focus should be on recharge enough to get Mind Link permanent, and then lots of endurance help, both recovery and +max end. I think my Widow has TT:Maneuvers and Assault and also Leadership Maneuvers and Assault. Combined with my other armor toggles and CJ, it adds up to a substantial end drain. My IO slotting allows me to run all that comfortably, though I will still bottom out in long fights.
Yeah, I'll also add that your defense will entirely be on defense. I'm switching Ricki from Cardiac to Agility, that will net her even more over the softcap on defense, but her DDR is a weak 25% and she pegs at 1400 HP once I get her accolades in order. Night Widows hit hard while keeping their team multiplier, but they pay for that by being effectively glass cannon... shard... things. Still hellaciously fun though. And again, teams will love you and your bonuses. Just remember to keep close to the squishies when you fire off Mind Link!

Because end redux for Inv and DA is a debuff.
Because extra recharge for ElA, FA, and Soul is a debuff.

I'll refer any rebuttals to Mr. Jones on my left.
  11. Shut up and take my tokens!

Wait, no, I don't have enough tokens banked yet. Give me a few months, then shut up and take my tokens! Three Times Faster will pierce the heavens with his, uh, dual katanas!
  12. Having visited the D more often, I have to say its really not that bad. YMMV, but there are quality players in there. The Hyperion Force has had a good record of recruiting new members through D RP as of late.

Single target does seem to be less crunchy than Street Justice, but sewers were clearing at an incredible rate. At times my poor Elec stalker couldn't keep up. I also got a Staff/WP brute to 14, and I'm seeing a lot of potential in her. I'll see how things go once I get into the 30s.

In other news, I'm not wearing any pants.

  14. I'm already juggling two SG/VGs and real life, but I'm really really tempted to send someone here. It sounds like a friendly community and the work you've done on your little town is top notch!

But would it have room for a hyperactive meter maid with a riot shield?

An excellent choice. Did you settle on a Nin/Nin last night? I'm curious since I put my own new Elec/EA stalker through the Death From Below paces last night, we might've crossed paths.

EDIT: Not sure if anyone else mentioned, but Energy Aura got an upgrade too.

Oddly enough, I have a mind/psi redside whose concept is that of a former augur, and with all her controls she really is safe to chug along with. Hmm, I might have to give some other dominator concepts a thought too.

You would think there would be more 'yay staff fighting', but, well, yeah. The signal-to-implied-facepalm ratio around here has only been getting worse as of late, and I'll just leave it at that.

Eh, I still want to solo through a full Prae storyline, then First Ward, and then eventually Night Ward to get the full experience. I'm just hung up a concept / powerset combo that'll be less painful than pulling teeth.

Shields. Set a couple recharge SOs on Active Defense, set it on auto, and go to town. You don't need a ton of recharge for a good attack chain and SD only needs it for Shield Charge, so Hasten isn't mandatory and you can build for positional defense. I have one in the mid-30s, with her attacks slotted she truly hits like a truck.

I'll go with distracted by post #601. Reppu just single-handedly salvaged the thread.

  24. I didn't really grok the game at first until I rolled a defender. On that note, I'd vote for a rad/rad too or maybe a rad/rad corr: Just enough buff, debuff, heal, control, and damage to get you a taste of everything but melee. And you'll truly see how much exciting and fun teams can be.

... Damn, now I want to dust off my rad/rad again.
