i did quite a few base raids on justice with a few of the largest SG&VGs of the time(misfits, pandemonium, doidd, and a couple others less known/ive forgotten names). it was a nice change from zone pvp that was so hot back then and was the sole reason I ever joined a sg/vg after it was released. i even did a couple CoP runs with people just to help their sg, and then quit.
back then big sg rivalries meant something. nowadays a sg is just a personal storage bin and with i17 giving us item emailing that use will be gone as well.
i would definately want the feature to be reinstated but i know it isnt something that they can just switch on again. they broke them on purpose to allow base builders to make the monstrosities of base design that we have now.
honestly, i'd be happy if even all we got was CoP back even without the pvp aspect of bases. that way at least people would have an incentive to join sg's anymore. -
Quote:plant/ is probably the easiest to play dom primary so permadom only makes it a little bit easier. its the subpar sets that benefit from permadom anymore. i am a newfound advocate for softcapping of defense for anything with alot of aoe damage if its feasable, and with dom ppps it is.So, with the not-that-recent-anymore patch that gave us our damage all the time, what is the advantage of domination anyway? Just the extra mez strength on primary abilities, mez resist, and the free endurance refill? Or am I missing something?
Honestly, on my plant/ I can't tell the difference with it on or off in terms of what happens to the enemy and to me. Except that it makes me glowy.
to the OP:
if you have hasten perma you will already have permadom, however if hasten is not perma you will have a period of relatively low +rech bonuses and in all likelyhood you are not going to be running permadom consistently if your margin is only 1 second. ideally you will want a few seconds of overlap so that if you are animating some long activation attack you dont miss a cycle. -
if you can get some of the hp accolades you can skip some of the wasteful slotting you did just for hp, like in super speed. with all of them youd be about 43hp over the hp cap before hoarfrost, but it all depends on your willingness to pve.
and for people wondering what build that chunk is for its a fire/mm blaster. -

edit: they should buy one of these and do it in-house.

i would enter, even though alot of my pvp toons are no longer on justice. i could probably respec some older builds up for competition pretty easily.

Quote:if i understand him correctly, its like if you made a build with +30% damage from io set bonuses. except the devs are giving it to you for free, under those specific circumstances.Does the Extra % buff/debuff of the defender coupled with the extra damage from this vigilance make defenders more viable/still less viable/equal than corruptors?
i wouldnt roll any new defenders but its an incentive to play an old one. -

that quote actually reminded me of that keanu reeves movie/philip k dick novel: a scanner darkly
Code:"For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known."Bob Arctor: What does a scanner see? Does it see into the head? Into the heart? Does it see into me clearly or darkly? I hope clearly, because I can't any longer. I see only murk inside and out.
basically how it reads to me is that in this life nothing makes any sense because of our limited perception, but in the afterlife we will see things fully. i dont personally agree with the philosophy but most of the popular religions of the world see things this way, which is why alot of people dont question authority and alot of bad things continue to happen in the world.
btw, why is this thread in these forums? -
ah, well it should make it easier to focus on +hp and +rech i guess..

Quote:the only way they could get me to reinstall the test client is if there is an open beta demons bump.Wow, wtf at going into open beta without a Demon Summoning level bump...
and i do hope this applies to pvp as is, i havent touched my cold/dark since i13 went live. -
Quote:i am hearing its about 30% more damage with 0 teammates and it drops 10% for each until 0%. i wonder if it carries over to pvp. this would make dueling on defenders viable again, possibly bring them higher than corruptors of equal power sets.Welcome to the Issue 17: Dark Mirror Open Beta
Here is a rundown of the features in Issue 17:
...
Vigilance for Defenders Upgraded- Due to concerns that Defenders inherent power Vigilance was "too weak" or "non-obvious" or "provided little benefit to the defender himself" we have endeavored to make improvements that are useful in as general a case for Defenders as possible, without adding to their already strong effect when combined with multiple Defenders. To that end, we have added a damage buff which only applies fully when solo, and which degrades as more team members are added.

here is a defense build i just threw together. it is softcapped with just scorpion shield, and goes almost up to 50% s/l defense with hover and maneuvers running.
it might run a little end heavy, though i have only played that combo up to the teens.

what do you want to build for? high defense? permadom? something fun with alot of procs?
-
yea you arent going to be using it, basically all i use is fulcrum shift, fireball(my build has ragnarok now), firebreath, blaze, and transference. 1 wave of that kills most everything and i usually precede with rain of fire to start scourging sooner. unless i let alot of vengeance stack vs nemesis i barely even need to heal.
i like using hover as well because with siphon speed you are moving pretty damn fast and you can stay out of melee yet alot of mobs will gather up on your shadow anyway making FS/aoes easier. -
Quote:you are mistaken, this is the pvp board. for badges scroll up some.So I have had for a while now, about all the gladiators, and as a Defender, stuck my neck out to find Shivans and Blue Ink Men in PvP zones abd such, and have never seen an event for Gladiators. I am not sure if but a few players even have any defeat badges worth playing, but for some veterans looking to play some mothballed toon they used to run with, this may be the thing that redeems them. I have played once or twice with some friends, and it's really neat to try all the dynamincs. I's kind of like playing chess. You build a team and see what works, and if someone gets an edge, you find something that counters that, and they work against your solution as well.
I play on Freedom, but don't get on consistantly every night, but if someone is and can organize some gladiator action, I would try my hand at a throwdown. -
Quote:thats how religions and conspiracy theories get started.Wow, your logic is simply infallible. I have an analogy. The reason we have pollution is not a side effect of the factories and cars. It was actually the goal all along....to have a lot of pollution. Because hey, we have pollution, right? So that means it was intended, right?
Man, you don't just reinvent PvP. You also reinvent logic and reality too, huh?
Simple logic lesson for you: Just because something happened, doesn't mean it was intended. Usually they teach this kind of stuff around kindergarden level, but you were probably too busy being an all-knowing old-school PvP'er in CoH to pay attention. -
i posted one in the dark/kin thread a few posts down.

most corrs can softcap with that build pretty easy. even easier if their secondary has a defense power in it. -
Quote:i admit this isnt all that scientific of a probe, i was just trying to see how different people handled their new surroundings that this opportunity presented. i see nothing wrong with anyone who didnt move, actually i made no mention them simply because thats not what i did. i'm glad you brought those groups up, they may even be facing another set of issues i didnt even think of. for those that did though, especially in bulk, there might be some shared sense of almost being new to the game again. new SGs, potentially a new sea of global names on channels, new forum games... and all with a history of their own.That's... A pretty specific request. Broken down to the specific conditions, it comes down to:
1. People who moved at all (I didn't, so I'm excluded from the rest of the steps)
2. Moved enough characters to constitute the moving of their server focus
3. Moved from a "less populated" to a "more populated" server.
4. Still monitor their old server channels and/or boards
5. Still consider their old server home despite not playing there much.
6. Visit General Discussions at all and are likely to participate in this discussion.
My thought is you're going to see very few people who cover all of the bases.
i havent been able to just jump in to a new crowd, i tend to be a silent observer until i feel i know whats going on and it hasnt happened yet. -
now that free server transfers are long since over and a sense of normalcy has begun to set in, i would like a show of hands of the people who made mass moves from less populated servers to the more populated who still view their home server's forum and/or global channels as 'home' and regularly view and/or post there. also, though i am not of this group, those that completely made the switch and no longer post on their old server's board or even view it.
did people have as strong of a connection to the actual server or did most people just move where their friends went? do you get the feeling of being a nobody in a huge city of strangers and sometimes feel the need to go where everybody knows your name? or do you generally make new friends super easy and have no problems severing old connections?
personally, i moved everything except my retired toons and one active toon that i felt compelled to keep on my home server in order to keep a connection to it and still read all my original server's threads and keep a tab open for it ingame.
humor me, im bored@work -
so ive been reading alot since i dont play nearly as much as i used to...
posters like dahjee are actually a naturally occuring phenomenon in history. in situations where an injustice has occured sometimes the victim decides to rebel against the system. sometimes the rebellion will grow as others too realize that they are being taken advantage of. when the rebellion grows too large though it in turn can spawn rebellions against it. dahjee sees all the helpful advice from the pvp community as the institution that is victimizing him. he fails to see that we are infact a rebellion from the institution that is the i13 rule set which victimized us.
ps. dahjee can be replaced by many forum names that have filled this role over the years(zen shadow, galactor, etc..)
pps to dahjee, please dont take offense its just my analysis of forum politics. i dont know you nor attempt to cast judgement of you or your rivals as good/bad, right/wrong.
ppps je_saist is full of **** and is the one person ive ever ignored on the boards since 2004. -

we had a good run, after the gr surge dies down this game will be dead.
