Quote:Yes.Ok, so if I go from Rogue to Hero, I'll get it, so if I go from Hero, back to Rogue, (While going through all the annoying steps of Vigilante and Villain) I'll get to keep it?
Invader, or getting TF Commander then going villain side. -

Quote:Gee, me saying so before syrusbLiz didn't count as confirmation? I'm hurt.Has this been confirmed by the developers or anybody with firsthand experience of leeching around Lusca? Wiki has no citation to prove what it says is true.
Yes, I've 1st hand experience with this happening with both Lusca and the Paladin Construction. I've also been on a team that fully took out Lusca and I didn't get the badge as I wasn't close enough to get it. There is a distance factor (it isn't zone wide, especially not in IP), but I don't think I've ever tested the limit. -
Quote:For Lusca you have to be near the head of when it dies. You don't even need to hit it.That could explain Lusca, but for the Croatoa mobs there were only one team fighting.
For the Croatoa GMs, if they were damaged before your team arrived it is quite possible that someone else tried & failed OR, even more likely, that the damage they inflicted on each other was such that your team failed to reach the 10% threshold needed for the badge.
The way it works is that as they heal back damage taken the 10% figure goes higher. Basically, the 10% damage threshold is for both its maximum hit points and its recovered hit points. It can eventually get to the point where 10% of the GM's overall health exceeds its maximum hit points.
Example:
Let's say that Jack in Irons has a max of 16,555 HP (level 35 AV, so this isn't his normal HP max, but close enough for an example). Normally your group needs to do 10% of that or 1,655.5 HP. Except Eochai has been beating on him for a while and Jack has healed back all his wounds (quite likely as the GM regen is huge). If left alone long enough, the 10% threshold could reach 17,000 HP, which means if you just beat him to a pulp that you don't get the badge. -
According to Hit Streak on UStream, it was Alien/Prometheus. That makes no sense whatsoever. Those are modern Sci-Fi (Alien was 1979, and near the start of the modern Sci-Fi movie area, Star Wars being the start).
Fantastic Voyage:
http://www.wired.com/underwire/2009/...-fi-flicks/10/
"A diplomat is nearly assassinated. In order to save him, a submarine is shrunken to microscopic size and injected into his blood stream with a small crew."
This film clearly did the scene before Aliens did. -

Quote:In case you missed it, there is an "Officially Unofficial" response further up this thread:Point being, I think yearly vet badges are totally broken beyond repair. I just wish they'd come out and say so as opposed to continuing to dangle hope. The longer they dangle hope, the more people get added to the list of folks expecting yearly vet badges that aren't getting them.
Quote:I sat next to Posi during dinner at the Pummit, and asked him specifically about this exact issue. He said that the vet "year" badges are completely and irrevocably dead, kaput, and that's that. Apparently the figuring up of paid time and awarding of badges is somehow involved with a 3rd party (vendor) of theirs and he indicated that there's simply no way to fix the code involved (he was QUITE emphatic about this issue being dead, which is why I'd expect that they would just post up something about it at some point and be done with it). -
The hallway is from the Underground Trial.

Quote:The reason why I asked is that I find it strange that this thread is an example of the following:Well, I don't think we are in negotiations on how often we post or the validity of the posts. Please understand that all options regarding this thread have been discussed via PM with the mods last year, prior to this thread being located in this section.
Spam - this is considered to be repetitive posting of the same topic or text or nonsensical posts that have no substance.
Usually, it is the exact same 3 posts every week.
Thread bumping (posts the sole purpose of which is to keep a thread at the top of a particular forum) is prohibited. To request increased visibility for a thread, please contact a forum moderator.
This is what is happening, and if you needed the increased visibility, then why aren't you contacting a forum moderator?
‘Thread necromancy,’ or ‘necro-posting’ is responding to a thread that has not been active (has had no posts) in at least 30 days. ‘Necro-posting’ is a form of thread ‘bumping’ and as such is prohibited. If you wish to discuss a considerably older topic, create a new post and link to the older discussion.
I can cite sever examples of this, including a gap from Dec 2011 to May 2012.
Other threads are getting locked over these rules and I'm trying to understand why this one isn't, especially with the recent update of the forum rules and the recent hard crackdown on thread necromancy. -
Quote:And I had thought I'd got around that as well with the screen capture showing 6 active light wells, +3 level shifts (what the character normally runs around with, not the expected +9), and a red-conning Olympian Guard. When Arbiter Hawk said the whole league should be getting level shifted, then I brought in that the real numbers might be wrong or that player testing might be in error.

Anyways, I'm just glad it will be fixed. -

Quote:This likely won't make me any friends with the web staff, but...Oh, man....ohhhh maaaannnn... I wish we could get rid of that stupid welcome line: "Welcome NAME, you're a VIP, so we're going to break your breadcrumbs into two lines for you!" I want my breadcrumbs in one line but it looks like the "Welcome [etc]" line is only marked asCode:
<td class="alt1" width="50%">
Code:// ==UserScript== // @name Kill welcome // @namespace meh // @include http://boards.cityofheroes.com/* // @version 1.0 // ==/UserScript== var elmDeleted = document.getElementsByClassName('alt1')[1]; elmDeleted.parentNode.removeChild(elmDeleted);

Quote:Okay, how about this... Does this thread really need to be bumped 3-4 times a week posting the exact same information? Wouldn't it be better to ask the mods to sticky the thread to the top of the section and post the schedule/information once?As to the question of why is this thread here: Because RO is a multi-server network, when the SG Recruitment section was removed the mods were kind enough to ask us where we wanted to go. We did not want to have the same thread in 4 places on the forum. So the section that fit best was this one so here we are.

Quote:I've got 50% Common, 30% Uncommon, 20% Rare, 0% Very Rare from the Magisterium reward tables. It's supposed to have a much better rate for Rare and Very Rare reward tables upon completion than the other trials, at about half the required completion time of the Underground Trial.
(In actuality, though, I've gotten an Uncommon and a Common upon both times I finished.) -
Given that Arcanaville & I tend to have vastly different interpretations of posts, yet we both came to the same conclusions as to what your post stated might mean that you should look at what you said and how you said it.

Quote:Given that quote was in direct response to my post quoting Arbiter Hawk saying the entire league was supposed to be getting the buff:Actually, in that quote Zombie Man clearly seems to be stating that the dev intent was for the power to affect the entire league, so *if* it was not doing that it could not be working as intended.
Quote:Is the above post from Arbiter Hawk in any way unclear? What part of "the entire league" translates to 16 players on a 12-24 player trial?
Quote:If Arbiter Hawk was involved with the design of the trial, his statement of intent, short of clumsy wording or typos, should be considered authoritative.
Quote:It's not intended to be particularly secret - there's a red text floater when each is defeated that briefly describes what mechanic is added to the fight. The inspiration for these mechanics was to turn the Battle Royale into a montage of many of the mechanics you've overcome on your Incarnate journey.
Banish is a variation on Sequestration Field. Chimera's minefield is a souped-up version of Director 11's Minelayer. Pendragon's Excalibur attacks are a dark version of Battle-Maiden's Halberd strikes. Our intent here was that this gauntlet reminded you of everything you've already overcome and at the same time made the trial more approachable, since you already know how to beat all of these things. The only trick then comes from determining what order and combination of mechanics your league can confront, which you then create based on what order you defeat the trio of enemies.
Thank you for the information as to what each does. -
Quote:If it were working as intended, I doubt that there would be as many trials failed. I agree, they got the upper end right (hardcore or otherwise non-casual players). However that is a far cry from the stated "Goldilocks" intention of being accessible for both hardcore & casual gamers alike. Now that we have confirmation that at least one mechanic isn't working and that a fix is in the works, I'll just say this:
With the admitted broken mechanic, it is still possible to complete the trial and even to earn the Really Hard Way badge.
If it were utterly broken so that it couldn't be completed, that would be a different story.
Quote:Originally Posted by Arbiter HawkBut, we also wanted to strike a balance between that difficulty and accessibility. We needed to design something that both casual and hardcore players wanted to complete and could complete, an incarnate trial that was not too complicated, but not too simple -- a "just right" Goldilocks design. -
Funny... What you "called" was that it was possibly working as intended and that Arbiter Hawk may have been mistaken.
Quote:Because the power in question is flagged to only affect 16 targets according to 'real numbers.'
Now, I've seen such caps be ignored by the real mechanics and the 'real numbers' are wrong. I've also seen the 'real numbers' be correct and the Devs made a boo boo.
There is:1. what it's supposed to do (Dev intention)
2. what it's reported to do by real numbers (a reporting system created by the devs so players can see the mechanics)
3. and what it actually does (as per player testing... done correctly)
There have been, at times, one one, two, or all three things were not correct.
In this case:1. It's supposed to affect all players and their pets
2. It has a 16 target cap.
3. Who knows? Player testing has been all over the map.

Quote:First of all, thank you for clearing up some mis-information. Also thank you for the upcoming fix of #2.I hope you're enjoying the Magisterium! I wanted to pop in to clarify some mechanics of the final fight:
Question: Why the secrecy of what buffs Shadow Hunter, Nega-Pendragon, and Chimera give the others when defeated. So far I've only seen one official statement as to what Shadow Hunter does when defeated:
Quote:Defeating Shadow Hunter empowers the other remaining bosses with the ability to Banish anyone hit by their attacks three times, shifting that character to a different phase and taking it out of the fight for ten seconds.
During the Black Swan encounter it is variable as to what happens to the player, no matter what distance the player is in relation to her or if there is intervening cover (line of sight blocked):- "no effect": A player at +3 (all level shifts) staying at +3.
- "stated effect": A player at +3 (all level shifts) being reduced to +0.
- "double effect": A player at +3 (all level shifts) being reduced to -3.
Final Question for now: Should I be getting the following reward table percentages? 50% Common, 30% Uncommon, and 20% Rare, 0% Very Rare. I ask because that is what I've gotten so far (barring failed runs). -
Quote:That doesn't change the fact that at the very least one mechanic is not working as stated by the developers.Since I know of at least one Magisterium run that not only finished the trial but also earned the Really Hard Way badge, I can't agree with your assessment. Note that most of the participants of that badge run had been on at least one successful regular run before attempting the badge run.

Quote:I'll take "Fantastic Voyage" for 500, Andy.
Thank you, the players, for your participation in this process, and thanks to the Paragon/COH development team for helping to make it all happen. I'll always remember this as a particularly awesome part of my career as a Community Manager.

Quote:No, you really want to update the status of your petition before 72 hours. Even if you need to just say "this is still a problem" as the system has a nasty tendency of automatically closing petitions after 72 hours (which is kind of stupid).I also sent a petition on Thursday. It's now monday and the token has yet be applied. I'm guessing the support staff have had several hundred of these petitions and are working their way through them. Be patient, if it's not done by wednesday, then it may be appropriate to enquire on the status of your petition.
