In my opinion, you've already read the best of the series, and it's only downhill from there. Of course, I have not read The Path of Daggers or anything that follows.

There are basically three things you need to be able to solo an AV.
1) You have to be able to stand in front of the AV and not die. This shouldn't be too much of a problem for a tank, though some AVs will give some tanks problems here - I don't expect an invuln tank to solo Mother Mayhem, for instance.
2) You need an attack chain that does enough damage. Some secondaries will not be quite as good here - Electric does not have a great single target chain.
3) You have to have the endurance to run that attack chain and the selected toggles indefinitely. 20+ minutes.
Some primaries help more than others - Inv has great defense, but its only contribution to offense is the to-hit buff in Invincibility. Fire armor has a lot more offense, but you'll have to focus on making sure that it is up to par defensively. -
The back then picture appears to have the vines pattern on the boots; that certainly dates it back not very far at all.

Yeah... all of my characters are either the sort that would absolutely never be connected to the Well...
...or are virtual, RP Incarnates anyway, connected instead to multiversal forces of Order and Chaos.
But, really, I just have to look at it and think to myself... Would Smersh really accept power from some undefined but sentient power source, or would he just crank his old armor suit up to 11?
I work under the latter assumption.
It is possible that I might take one of my characters who is not yet 50 and play with the lore itself, but I haven't made that decision yet. -
I think that just makes it clear that, any time he posts in the tanker forums, he has to be told that he's not allowed to talk until he's accepted my challenge.
Nah, too much work. -
I'll one-up that...
I'm perfectly willing to invite him to my team and allow him to observe me soloing an AV. My results are reproducible.
Of course, he will have to agree to take back his statement, publicly, when I present proof.
And, no, I truly don't believe that Fiery Melee is in any risk of a nerf. -
Quote:I need to do another AV with the Ouro settings for no temps, no insps. I did it this morning, but I neglected to use the proper settings. The general consensus on the scrapper boards is that inspiration use is acceptable, but temp pets don't count. The truly hardcore do it no temps no inspirations, but soloing an AV is soloing an AV.
I imagine if an Inv/Fire can do it, things that get a boost from their primary can do it better. -
Quote:Is that the Original Series novel Kobayashi Maru, or an Enterprise one?Star Trek Enterprise: Kobayashi Maru. After that, not sure. Probably going to start on that TOR novel, Fatal Alliance, to get ready for the game. Then go back to Beneath the Raptor's Wing if I can actually find a "regular" paperback version of it (as opposed to the larger PB version I keep seeing everywhere).
I loved the Original series one... and I think it would have significantly improved the new Star Trek movie if they had adapted that particular telling of Kirk's test. -
And... Just soloed Nightstar via Ouro.
Je Saist, you can take your words back any time now. -
True story time.
Back somewhere around issue 7 or 8, I sort of soloed Terra, exemplared to level 40-ish.
I say sort of soloed, because I had a single buff applied to me - an Adrenalin Boost from a controller. I did not need it for survivability, I needed it for the endurance. I was doing enough damage to overcome her regen already, but the A-Boost made it go faster.
That was pre-invention, so I did not have nearly the recovery or endurance efficiency on my Inv/Fire that I do now.
My current build has 77.5% global recharge, more damage, more endurance recovery, and a Cardiac Radial slot.
I think I could probably pull it off purely solo now. In fact, I need to try to solo an AV with him again. -
Quote:I only read the first three Demon Princes novels. I was struck by the character's unlimited morality license - In the first book, he tortured and killed a man just to get the names of the Demon Princes, but by the third book, the Demon Princes were being discussed in an academic treatise in the chapter headers!Typically I re-read alot of Lovecraft over and over again.
Currently working on the The Adversary Cycle by F.Paul Wilson
&
The Demon Princes by Jack Vance
and finally the SAS survival handbook.
I'll get to the other two someday. -
I would dump one of your spare travel powers and take both Unstoppable and Physical Perfection.

Just finished reading The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco. Excellent, though by no means a quick read - I found myself chewing on the details quite a bit, though in a good way.
Before that, I'd read the first five Amber novels, and I'm now working on the second half. I'd previously only made it up to the eighth novel - this time I have Knight of Shadows and Prince of Chaos ready to go, so I'll finally have the whole series. -
Finding a good arc is far too difficult. I don't want to have to sift through a million options, I want to get on and play a couple of nice missions. How many thousand farms are out there that I need to go through to find one decent arc?
Also, there are far too many dead arcs cluttering the search. I think a wipe is in order... give a global message of the day so authors can save their arcs, and unpublish everything. Let it be restocked.
Maybe an option in the GUI that lets you search your global friends list for new publications? -
Quote:Yeah...Even Bay admits that the script for RotF was all kinds of messed up thanks in part to the writers' strike, and for some reason they weren't allowed to tweak/refine it into something more palatable during production. As long as they put more focus on the TFs as characters this time out, I think this could be an awesome concept.
I don't think that's a viable excuse. It's like all those other major blockbusters that got their scripts messed up by the writer's strike that year, right?
Right?
Wait, what others? Oh. Darn. -

Quote:Surely, it's dishonest to compare a 10% increase in defense with a 50% increase in regeneration?HP: 1000
Defence: 30%
Regen: 15
DPS Faced: 400
Time to Defeat: 15.38 seconds.
vs.
HP: 1000
Defence: 33%
Regen: 10
DPS Faced: 400
Time to Defeat: 17.38 seconds.
Defence wins? So the survivability metric is wrong.
Once again, survivability metric should not be used because it flat out gives the wrong answer some times. -
Quote:This is not a true statement. If you're building for defense you must have some $$$. Get a Performance Shifter - Chance for +END and put it in a 4th slot in Stamina. It's similar in effect to what a 4th slot would give without ED. Also, if you get hit by a debuff that trashes your recovery, it still works since it's not giving you recovery - it's a direct application of END points.
That will help with just one slot. After that, if you have places to slot them, start building for recovery bonuses.
With the right build, a shield tank can softcap with a mere 7 IOs. Steadfast + Gaussians. If you substitute things like Makos and Multistrikes, it becomes even cheaper.
Shield Tanks can be built for defense quite cheaply, if you take Combat Jumping and Weave.
As to the OP - A Performance Shifter proc is probably your best bet. Alignment merits are your friend in this. Of course, with hero merits, you can just as easily get a Miracle unique for the same price, which is basically a second unslotted Stamina. -
Really, I'm just watching this thread for Arcanaville to ride in on her celestial chariot of light, and apply a precision guided orbital kinetic kill vehicle of logic detailing precisely how the OP is wrong.
For what it's worth, OP, I wrote a guide back in Issue 3 or 4, detailing precisely why pursuing the resist caps was worthwhile for a tanker. And precise amounts of incoming DPS had no relevance to that discussion. -
Quote:If true, it should be relatively cheap, too. It makes some sense for the estates of those actors, because the right for, say, Alec Guiness, to appear in new films is not exactly in use at the moment. While his storytelling and directoral efforts are lacking, the man knows how to make money. I will not be surprised if this turns out to be popular.
On the other hand, I guarantee that if this should come to pass, the first batch of resurrected movie stars will absolutely not get as much money as they ought. -
Siphon Life is a great attack, and should be slotted as such. You could, however, use a couple of the accurate heal sets in a frankenslot on the attack.
A softcapped Willpower is a fearsome thing. Now, that being said, you might consider softcapping against Energy and Negative only, as you do have the dual layers of resistance and healing to preserve you from smashing and lethal. On the other hand, building in even a moderate amount of defense would be beneficial, as you'll be stacking on the to-hit debuffs from Dark Melee. It's really your call.
Rise to the Challenge's to-hit debuff is not worth slotting. If you're interested in to-hit debuffs, look instead to Touch of Fear. -
There is so much wrong here that I do not even know where to begin.
Do you have a plan/goal for this build, or are you just putting in things that are expensive?
