  1. Cool, I'll go check it out right away!

    Congrats, PW!
  2. I almost thought you were serious until I read the part about controllers. Though why do I get the feeling that some people actually think this way?

Anyways, funny post. Made me laugh. =D

I would only make so that you could only get minions (or maybe Lts) for balance.
World of Confusion is for the Mental Manipulation secondary for Blasters. We are talking about the Mind Control primary for Controllers.

Still, you can't just replace powers willy-nilly. You could seriously irritate the players who do use the power. Just cause you and a few others think it's dumb doesn't mean that nobody uses it.
  4. As long as there are guidelines put in place and they hire exceptional authors, I would fully support this idea. By guidelines, I mean what kind of story they can create. I don't want just any random story in an inappropriate zone. Imagine going to boomtown to hear,

"Help us hero! The knives of Artemis are opening a magic portal that leads to the Devouring Earth dimension! Stop them!"

Give the authors a back story to work with and a level range, and this could be a good idea.
  5. I must be either really lucky, really ignorant, or even both, but I've never noticed any of this devil-summoning evil behavior on Freedom that the server is so well-known for. Sure, there are more farmers on Freedom than most servers, but they don't even bother me. I've met a lot of really nice people on Freedom and I find it the most enjoyable server to play on. Other servers are too lonely and empty feeling, and it's harder to make teams. On Freedom I can just snap my fingers and have a full team created in mere minutes. But... I digress...

I'm going to join the vocal minority and say no to free server transfers. There are exploits to using the system, such as getting free name change tokens and it would create a large burden for the servers to handle, with so many transfers going on at once at all times. You should be able to determine whether or not you like a server within a short time, so you can re-roll if the server doesn't suit you.

I say if you haven't moved all the characters you wanted too by the end of the free-time, that's too bad. You snooze you lose. Move around all the characters you want now so you don't have to worry about the period ending before you're done.

*dons flame-retardent suit and awaits the swarm of negative comments on his post*

    Sorry...

    - Yes I would love spending my billions on even MORE epic enhancements, to make my alts even more awesome than they are now.

Sadly this is a way over the top casual game, casual players dont want the challenge.
You're missing the point here. Raising the level cap doesn't solve anything. If you're bored with your level 50ies now, then what happens when you reach level 60? You're stuck with the same problem. Then you get bored with your level 60ies, and the cycle starts again.

All those purples players have spent billions of inf on? Completely wasted. They would have to make new, BLUE recipes at level 60 that are impossibly rare. Like, a .00001% chance of finding a single recipe, only from level 60 Archvillains.

Raising the level cap wouldn't bring players back. In fact, I guarantee that people will leave if they did such a thing.
  9. I don't want to come off as rude, but there are just so many problems with this suggestion.

The first and biggest problem is what happens when you hit 60? you get some new powers, but then what? You're essentially left with the same problem, people hitting 60 and then retiring. All it does is prolong the problem.

Also, what would happen to the current level 50 zones? Zones like Grandville, Peregrine Island, Cimerora, and such would become abandoned for the new zones. There are already such ghost-towns around, do we really need more?

As for the powers, Maniac_Raid pretty much covered what I would have said. Would it bring players back? Possibly. Then they hit level 60 and leave, making the whole point of the idea entirely pointless.

Right now, Going Rogue is set to come out soon, which should bring about a influx of players, both new and returning. Also, Matt Miller (Positron) recently traded his position of Lead Designer over to Melissa Bianco (War Witch) so that he could work on new "end-game" content for players who reach level 50.

If you're getting bored at level 50, you could always just create another character. There are so many different powersets and playstyles that there's always something new to play.
  10. First, I'd like to welcome you to the game! Enjoy your stay here! If you would like a tour of the game on the Freedom or Virtue servers, I'd be happy to help!

Second, here are some things you can do.

The important thing as others have pointed out is to take care of the human enemies quickly. They have some kind of leadership ability that makes the zombies around them smarter. If you defeat the human handlers, the zombies become deaf and dumb. not to say they won't stop attacking you, be they'll lose focus on what's going on, making them easy to outrun if things go south.

If you're still having trouble, go back and talk to the contact who gave you the mission. There should be a "Drop this mission" option. It allows you to auto-complete the mission, and gain rewards as if you had really completed it. You can only do this once every three days though, so don't waste it.

One thing that's important to note is that only your starter contact will give you missions based on Origin. If you find the contact repeatedly giving you Vahzilok missions, then do this. Stop getting missions from the contact, and defeat enemies around the zone until you reach level five. It shouldn't take more than thirty minutes of street-sweeping. After that, go to your map and look for a white circle with a blue letter-T inside. This is the Yellow Line, aka the Train station. Go to it and click the door to the train, a window should appear with a list of zones. Go to Kings Row and you will find a new contact in your list.

This contact will be a detective, and he will give you access to the Police Radio. In your contacts list, click the Radio to get a set of three random missions to choose from. After completing three of these missions, go back to the detective you talked to before and he will give you a mission to prevent a bank heist. Complete the mission, and you will get a temporary jet-pack power and a new contact to choose from. The jet-pack is very useful for getting around in the lower levels. When picking a new contact, make sure you read their descriptions, as they tell you what groups they primarily deal with and where they're located.

Also, I wouldn't suggest re-doing your current character, but maybe create some different characters and play around with the various power sets and Archetypes. Scrappers are excellent solo characters, so after you're done with the Vahzilok (they disappear around level 20) you should have an easier time with the more tame enemies. Find out which groups you're strong against and which you're not-so-strong against and tend towards contacts and missions with those enemies.

Sorry if my long writing bored you, but I hope this helps! Again, welcome to the game and feel free to ask any questions you have!

I think the "better content" he's referring too is actual stories. sure there are fewer, but in the early stages of blueside content, it all just seems like radio missions to me.

"Hey, the hellions stole this thing, could you get it back?"
"Dude, the council are totally recruiting in Steel Canyon, go and defeat some of them."
"Look, I know the Vahzilok in Steel Canyon are level 16, and you're level 10, but I really need you to go defeat some of them. They HAVE to be in Steel Canyon."
"The Clockwork aren't doing anything bad, but I need you to beat up about 10 of them, okay?"
"The Skulls are minding their own business in some warehouse, go and beat them up!"

Sheesh, I absolutely hate early blueside. At least there are coherent stories redside, even if there aren't as many,
  12. Actually, my entry focuses on a custom hero based off one of my own heroes.

I put my own little twist on the challenge, but I won't tell you here!

    Nah, I was exemplared from 46. =P

I didn't have any accolades or purples though, not even any good IO's. All I had was inspirations and a chance for knockdown IO.
  14. Yes, I was able to complete it alone, but I was on my Stalker, who is an amazing solo character. I died a few times, twice during EB fights and once during the first mission by the large number of Legacy mystics, but other than that I had no problem with it.

(P.S. If you do play my arc, there's a link in my sig. The two other arcs listed are not the entry arcs.)
  15. Someone's been playing too much Dead Rising.
  16. Oohh, competition.

So I gave your arc a try, here are some thoughts.

First, I really enjoyed the story. Though it got a bit confusing at times, it made sense towards the end. The custom group's design was well done as were their difficulty. not too difficult, yet not completely powerless either.

    *WARNING: POSSIBLE SPOILERS BELOW!*

Some things I would fix. First, the insane number of patrols. There must have been at least 8 patrols on one mission alone! They really clog up the chat-box and make planning for attacks on the bosses really difficult. Also on the third mission, I got the feeling you weren't supposed to fight the boss in the last room first. After defeating them first, and then defeating the Legacy guy, the messages suggested that the last boss was supposed to appear after the Legacy fight. You can chain events to trigger off of other events, so setting the EB at the end to appear after the Legacy boss has been defeated would work.

    *SPOILERS END HERE*

Aside from some typos here and there, nothing else really stood out to me. The dialog was excellent and the missions were fun and engaging. I may have to step up my arc to compete! =D

Oh, and the fourth mission has no Enter Mission pop-up, which I thought was strange. I don't know if it was intentional or not, just pointing that out for ya. My overall rating is 4/5 stars. Best of luck to you in the challenge!
  17. So I thought I'd put my AE hat on and get to writing an arc for the latest Aeon challenge. (Details for the challenge are found here)

Right now I need more testers other than myself. I've done it with multiple characters of my own, but I would like some more feedback from other people. Arc details are as follows.

Arc ID: 373341 - To Save a Hero. (Levels 5-10)

    Description:
"After a horrible incident, a once valiant Hero has found himself unable to assist the city. On the verge of re-possesing his powers, an unknown force seeks to ruin his efforts and destroy the powerless protector."

    Groups:
    Legacy Chain, Skulls, Custom Group.

Warnings: Elite Boss, Enemies with custom power selections, One defeat all.

Now, this arc is by no means finished. That's why I need others to test my arc. Is it too difficult? What works and what doesn't? If you think it sucks, by all means tell me. Just tell me why it sucks and how you think I could fix it. If you just say "this arc is stupid!" well, I can't fix stupid. =P

    Thanks!
  18. Well, since I suffer from altitis, I won't post any of my characters below level 4. Just the ones I usually play.

    On Freedom:

    Proto-Zero: Level 46 DB/EnA Stalker.
Smash Zone: Level 32 Inv/EM Tanker.
Thunderous Void: Level 22 Dark/Elec Defender.
[And the newly created] Lethal Trauma: Level 10 Claws/Elec Brute.

I don't have much on Virtue, having only recently decided to play there as well. Only two right now.

Spirit Flare: Level 14 Fire/Fire Scrapper.
Blood Snare: Level 6 AR/kin Corruptor.

I don't really tend towards a specific playstyle, I just play whatever seems cool to me. Most of my characters are concept characters that I create from inspiration. If you were to ask me which of these is most fun, I would have two answers. Solo, hands-down Proto-Zero. With all the powers from Dualblades and moderate IO's, unleashing combo-after-combo is just exhilarating. For team play, I would have to say my Tanker Smash Zone. Walking into a group of bad guys with Invincibility toggled and letting loose whirling hands is just so much fun.

Yeah, that happened to me too on my level 10 MM. I entered the mission only to be greeted by level 25 Slag Golems. The mission also referred to "Villain_Name" and the intro text was "It was a long walk on a hot day, time to make Villain_group pay for your trouble."
  20. I've got two I'd like to share.

The first one took place during Vivacious Virandis "Place weapons in Freakshow hideout" mission. When I clicked on the glowie, I was ambushed by Freakshow, but they shouted "Stomp those ghoombas!" or something to that effect. They then proceeded to attack the other Freakshow in the building. (Paragonwiki says this is a known bug and that they're supposed to be The Family, but I didn't know about it at the time. =P)

The second one took place in Sharkhead. This was my first encounter with the Ghost of Scrapyards buggy AI. I got a team together and the instant we attacked him, he ran towards the nearest Arachnos Drone and got killed. It's as if he said "You know what, Screw you all! I'm gonna get killed anyway, so I think I'll save myself the time! NO BADGE FOR U!!!"

Pretty common-place among the veterans I'm sure, but I thought they were funny. =D

In all seriousness, I think this is cool. Even though I don't intend to use it at all, I'm sure a lot of people are flipping out over this. =P

    I want it.

At first glance I said "oh great, more of that abstract art garbage" until I started reading the item description.

    One word: Genius.

If I had the money, I would totally buy that! xD
  23. Foolish boy... while your crappy computer isn't in itself a Nemesis plot, that fact that you hate it so much will eventually force you to go and buy a NEW computer, created by Nemesis himself! From there he will have access to every file, every website, everything you have stored on your new computer! Diabolical!

Among all the plots and schemes going around, I can safely say that cardboard is most definitely not a Nemesis plot.
