Mind Control for Mind Control/

This is a suggestion for a pseudo-pet power for the Mind Control set that would replace either Telekinesis or Total Domination and become the new tier 9 power (Mass Confusion being moved up to TK/TD's tier). Is it necessary? No, but I think it would be cool.

Basically the idea is the set gains a power called Mind Control which, as the name implies, allows you to assume control over an enemy. Instead of a click power Mind Control would be a toggle, allowing you to capture an enemy up to boss level who will follow you around as a pet until the toggle is turned off; either voluntarily by the player, by getting mezzed or running out of endurance (endurance cost per second would vary based on the rank of the controlled mob). To prevent overpowered pets some sort of stat modifier would have to be implemented to adjust the controlled mob's stats to that of other controller pets (the mob's rank would only determine it's powers). The Mind Control power differs from confusion in that it would allow you a better degree of control over the mob in addition to experience gain from any kills it makes. It also differs from other controller pets in that your pet's powers can vary wildly however it costs endurance to keep them from turning on you.

Of course, there are many other considerations to make when designing a power of this nature. I realize it's a lot of work for one power but I believe it would improve the set while keeping it's unique flair. Anyway, please share your thoughts.

You can't just replace a power because it would piss off the people who like having that power.

Stopping right here because this, itself, means it would never happen. (And thank $deity, because I use both of those powers. Yes, I use mass confusion, too.)

Even aside from that, "controlling an enemy" puts the idea solidly into "pet control," which controllers won't get because it steps on Mastermind toes. It's one of those things that has been consistently said "no" to by the developers - not "we'd like to but it's not feasable right now" like Power Customization was, but just flat out "no" (like "respeccing to change the primary/secondary/AT" is.)

Bill, while I agree with the fact that this idea is a no-go, I have to say I think the OP just meant that the pet would be more like a controller pet in that it would stay close and fight any of that controller's enemies, not that it would be more like a MM pet and actually have pet commands and stuff.

Still, accounting for the need to drop a power that some people already like and would seriously scream about losing and the massive undertaking this would wind up being in addition to the seriously over-powered nature (even if you did nerf the foe, it would really be over powered), there's a big-time no way on it.

I have to admit, however, that the idea of putting it in with a really big end-cost and watching a bunch of people try to control bosses, then having the boss break free near the end of a fight when the whole team was already low on endurance... Yeah, baby. Fun times. I'd pay to watch that.

Hmm. Don't ask me how I missed that the first read-through. >.<

It basically sounds like the OP wants a mag >3 toggle confusion power. Which seems like an unlikely event, even without replacing powers in MC.

I think the idea of a toggled single target confuse would be pretty cool, albeit very expensive on the endurance... But yeah, you can't just up and replace powers like that.

What about replacing world of confusion?

I guess all three players who use it would complain, but otherwise it would be a big set up (maybe too big because it could give non-pet classes a pet).

I would only make so that you could only get minions (or maybe Lts) for balance.

World of Confusion is for the Mental Manipulation secondary for Blasters. We are talking about the Mind Control primary for Controllers.

Still, you can't just replace powers willy-nilly. You could seriously irritate the players who do use the power. Just cause you and a few others think it's dumb doesn't mean that nobody uses it.
