Except for the part where you have to keep reaplying your debuffs, thus interrupting your attack chain, thus significantly lowering your DPS.

Now I'm not saying a Bane isn't a valuable teammate with many nice toys, but saying the Fire/SR Brute doesn't come close is just plain absurd.

The Brute with high defenses and DDR has significantly more survivability than the Bane. Being a powerful damage dealer (both ST and AoE) and having aggro managing capabilities make him also a very valuable teammate. With aggro being properly managed by the Brute, the team doesn't need +15% defense because they won't be getting hit, and when he's one-shotting stuff left and right with full-fury FSC and BoF, the -res debuffs also become irrelevant (except on hard targets).

Both have their pros and cons, saying one doesn't come close to the other is just plain ignorance.
  2. In the scale of cool, RP'n a Catgurl in Virtue scores a .1, while participating in post-i13 PvP scores a .01 (which makes me about 10x as cool as you)

    hi barrier
  3. /get_global_name [player's local name] (or /get_global_name $target)
    /get_local_name [player's global name]

    Happy stalking!
  4. Yeah, too bad anyone who participates in post-i13 PvP is a loser, gg
  5. I want them to fix the freakin mob AI to make them less cowardly OR give Scrapper damage auras a taunt component like AAO or Invincibility >_<
  6. Heck if you want something Planetside implemented in this game I'd start by the vehicles

    GD Knockback?

Not being a Katana expert, I thought you were cursing Knockback in the title of this thread
  8. They don't have ToHit buffs, they do have Accuracy Bonuses in their attacks, which you can't "knock down to 5%"

The Accuracy bonus combined with them being +2 to you is what produces those higher ToHit numbers.

    Incorrect.

Flares has higher DPA than Fire Blast.
  10. Are they worth it? sure they are
Are they horribly overpriced (especially on redside)? sure they are
Can you live without them and still be good? sure you can

My Blaster has no purples slotted, and she does just fine
  11. I run comfortable at +0/x8 on my lvl 50 Fire/Ment against all the foes scanner missions in PI throw at me. Arachnos and Malta are always problematic and force me to carry BF's and actually pay attention. Carnies and CoT give no major problems, and Council are just pushovers.

I could probably push it to +3 or +4 if I need a challenge, but I haven't tried it yet.
  12. Given the new difficulty options, your best bet for a fast leveling toon is actually something with lots of AoE damage. I suggest Spines as a primary and Invuln as a secondary, so you can melt mobs without them running away from you thanks to Invincibility's taunt effect
  13. I personally use Haymaker, Punch, Gloom.

Better for Fury generation, better for end-efficiency and not too much recharge required. You can also do Haymaker, Punch, Gloom, Punch which is even easier rech-wise
  14. Bane has team buffs, Brute has aggro management. Both are valid and important contributions to a team
  15. Maybe, but even with all the -res stacking, Sonic is still way behind Fire in damage (solo). You should be able to do AVs just fine though
  16. Werner, which fight took you 6 hours and why? I mean, when I first started soloing AVs on my Ice/Cold Corruptor, Ms Liberty and/or Synapse must've taken me like 6 hours each yes, but that was defeat after defeat after defeat, not in a single battle o_O (and not in a single sitting either, potty breaks, snacks and all)

    Winter Lord

I gathered a team of 8 (grabbed 7 friendly fillers) and ran around the remote corners of IP opening presents to spawn him yesterday.

It's not an easy fight if you want to solo him. He likes to spam summon minions, lieuts and bosses who also have the GM code (ie are even con to you)

    Correct.
  19. The Best AVs to try and solo are Statesman and Lord Recluse.

(well, they ARE the best! )

    From my personal experience:

Safest and most reliable GM/AV killer: Robotics/Traps MM
    Fastest GM killer: Fire/Traps Corruptor
    Fastest AV killer: Fire/Rad Controller

I wouldn't be so sure about that, as I've heard reports that you can't S-Charge or L-Rod while hovering/flying (I don't have an Elec Melee toon myself, and my Shield Scrapper doesn't fly)

I agree with the concept though, Shield/Elec Tanker with flight (though no hover, you'd probably want Air Superiority to complement Elec Melee's weak ST attack chain)

Aren't Ghost Widow's clothes just a Night Widow Uniform? if so, her costume pieces are indeed available to players
  23. Resistance debuffs from Sonic Attacks do indeed stack with themselves (ie you can stack Scream up to 2x and Shriek up to 3x because of their duration-recharge ratio) as do the Defiance buffs. Damage buffs are all added together (enhancements, BU, Aim, Defiance) and then applied to the base value of the attack. Resistance debuffs are a multiplier to the total damage (base + buffs)

Resistance stacking and recharge-duration-activation ratios are the reason why Shout does not belong in a good sonic DPS attack chain
