Dresses

CoH totally needs more dress choices for girls.

In the official sites video trailer there is a white skinned girl on the villians' side wearing a cool black and white tabard/dress kinda outfit...where is this found in character creation?

It's not. There are a ton of signature costume pieces that NPCs get to wear and we can't. There are also a ton of costume pieces that no one in the game gets to wear, NPC or PC, in trailers and promo posters/pics.

Moving stuff is a clipping nightmare, as well as a resource drain. (Their words, not mine--see "two capes" or "moving hair.") I would love to see more realistic clothing options, but we are kind of constrained to fixed items that won't clip.

Pretty sure Jay has said he will only add long skirts when he can get it to not look stupid. The issue is how do you have a long skirt on a Martial Arts type character. It's difficult to say the least.

I always hear this, but if you hang around Tsoo long enough, there are skirted dudes that do Martial Arts.

I'd believe more that they clip with emotes or doing running or flying or something, because they definitely don't have issues doing flying kicks.

EDIT: Check it: http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Tsoo#Lost_Son He does all three of the most extravagent MA kicks in a skirt.

This was my reply in a different thread about Wizard "robes" but it is the same for long dresses, etc.

Quote:
The reason the "cool"costumes are only on NPCs (like Airlia and the Tsoo Sorcerors) is that there is only one model for that NPC and it's only one size. The costume is inherent in the NPC models for those.

And also - think about this - long robes (a la Wizards) would look downright stupid with Martial Arts Kicks and some of the lunging attacks in other powersets. And our Devs don't make costumes that look stupid, they want them to look nice. (And I appreciate that).

I know there are exceptions to this general rule, but they are just that - exceptions. Costumes need to look fairly good on any size character (allowing for the gender differences they have made) performing any attack or travel animation in-game.

That being said, we have lots of options for dresses in the costume creator, just not long ones. Many of the tops, especially "Tops with Skin" blend seamlessly into the skirts (some don't, though).

Here is a character with a longer skirt and the Magic Bolero which is the closest I have come to an "elegant" dress.

It's not Ghost Widow (who I suspect is who the OP is referring to), but Lady V is still a classy dame.

Just bought the Magic Booster Pack because it says you get a couple "magic" costumes...you get a idiotic Witch costume...nothing sorcerous or cool.

Horrendous waste of $10.

And most people only look cool standing still so long clothes would still look good when your standing around where others could actually "see" your outfit. So clipping isnt an issue id be worried about standing around.

But I bet the skirt is a fixed entity. He probably looks like it is super-glued to his legs when he does his thing.

So? Our existing skirts do that. And tails. And hats.

The only things we have that obey the laws of physics are back options. And we're only allowed one of those.

Has pictures of many pieces which you may have overlooked, I certainly love the sorcery look you can get via the Baron jackets

I really think we're on the verge* of some changes, and hopefully longer skirts is one of them. Moving tails too!

*poster makes no attempt to claim "verge" being any faster than "Soon™"

And the existing ones suck.
You get two knee length and 4 slutty mini skirts.

Really? I get a lot of use out of the bolero. It works as both a magical robe and a formal coat. I use it on my Widow like above. She's a classy lady who wears fancy clothes. You know, when she's not killing people.

Looks good...too bad there is no skirt/dress that looks decent with them tops.

You didn't actually look at what you were buying before you bought it? Frankly, the Magic Booster is my favorite one so far. The costume stuff is tremendous.

The shoulder fur doesnt work with long hair though...the long hair runs through the fur.The bolero without the fur or dumb high collars would be nice though.

But its all bat winged motif...thats not much of a style choice unless you love bats.
And I didnt see any link on the product page showing what all it came with...only written descriptions and they were vague.

I don't use the "bat wing" stuff either, but I still think the magic pack is the best one to date. I'm even the one that uploaded the pics to the wiki.

I don't have any witches or use any of the parts that have big wings coming off them, but I use:

Witch Skirt: One character (generally I dislike this skirt though).
Witch Bare Top w/Skin: On 2 characters.
High Collar Cape: At least 3; it's fantastic for magic themed toons.
Magic Bolero: On at least 4 characters.
Witch Tight Gloves: Countless, because it's the only arm-length glove.

Aren't Ghost Widow's clothes just a Night Widow Uniform? if so, her costume pieces are indeed available to players

There are four screenshots that depict the pieces....

Just an FYI - those "slutty" miniskirts are classic superheroine garb (OK, in the Magic Booster, with added "bat" textures) - which seems somewhat appropriate in a superhero game.

Your posts come off as whiny because you don't want to be inventive about how you are combining things. A couple of us have shown you combinations that aren't "slutty" but are rather classy (Dispari, I *love* your classy widow).

You don't have to use the Magic booster pieces only with each other.

Yeah, there are a lot of options with each one of the boosters. And while aesthetics are going to be a person choice thing, I still think the Magic booster is the strongest of all of them. And that's even with me annoyed at there being no wizard hat option for males. STILL. Cabal hat looks female and has been in game for a long time, and then this booster came out... and females got more witch hats! But no wizard hats. Mmmmkay.

But yeah, don't buy something until you know what's in it. If you buy without looking, it's your own fault for not liking it.

I like it just for the costume change emotes, emotes, and random buff. The nifty costume looks make it just gravy.

Doesnt make them wanted by everyone now does it...of course not.
Classic means little when its in poor taste.
