Cabal hat looks female and has been in game for a long time, and then this booster came out... and females got more witch hats! But no wizard hats. Mmmmkay.

But yeah, don't buy something until you know what's in it. If you buy without looking, it's your own fault for not liking it.

I like it just for the costume change emotes, emotes, and random buff. The nifty costume looks make it just gravy.
Its for sure my favorite so far...just could have been better.

Which is possible with the wedidng pack - the moving veil can be used on an avatar that already has a cape

I think the thing is that the Tsoo and CoT robes outfits fall under Jay's definition of not looking very good.

The way they animate, for example, a straight leg kick, it's as if they are wearing giant rubber dresses that miraculously stretch to like 3x their original size... yet somehow do not tighten against the leg. I do think it looks pretty darn goofy.

Now I can get folks being willing to accept that to get longer dresses. But I can also sort of get Jay not wanting to do that.

GG, sweets, you and I both know that it can be done. We've just been told repeatedly that it won't be done. Until that day, though, I'll still be asking for long flowing hair for the boys.

As the OP is talking about a 'black and white dress/tabard', I think he's probably asking about Sister Airlia? That's the only thing I can think of.

Witch Tight Boots and Fortune are worth the $10 to me. Sure, we didn't get a Pocket-D teleport in this one but if you remember to throw Fortune on someone it can make a big difference to them/the team.

I don't go for the goofy wing stuff though or the witch hats.

More of anything costume wise is desired on my part. And if it's not stock, I prefer to pay and get it on all characters rather than have to earn it. You can't get the ITF stuff at level 1.

I understand what Jay's saying about this. Ideally we should be able to have ANY costume item look acceptable with every animation.

But I realize the current software limitations of the way costume items interact with our characters and the problems that occur with clipping. I would be willing to accept a more liberal allowance of items with the default acknowledgement that if I tried to do something extreme like martial arts in a long skirt that it might look bad. I could live with that limitation if that meant I could have long skirts with any character, especially characters that I choose NOT to do martial arts with because I have enough common sense not to try that.

Basically it bothers me that we are denied certain costume items simply because they are not 100% "perfect" clipping-wise. I want to be able to have more control over what my characters wear even if that means having to put up with a few scenarios or combinations that might cause problems. Ultimately players should have as much freedom as possible to decide what looks good or not.

This is how I feel about costume parts and color customization. Sure the dev in charge might not think it looks good, but I feel like that should be our decision. If we don't think it looks good, we don't have to use it.

On the other hand, I KNOW there would be a thread saying "Why doesn't the long skirt work with (animation)? Fix it now!"

Unfortunately, when the dev that actually literally makes them disagrees, his opinion is generally going to prevail.

Sure: Positron could order Jay and BaB and every other artist on the team to do whatever he wants overriding their intrinsic artistic judgement, but unless such commands are issued extremely sparingly, you'd be creating a hostile environment for your artists. Soon, you'd have no artists.

Delegation isn't just about workload. Its also about allowing your employees to take ownership of their area of responsibility.

On the subject of dresses, and flowing garb in general. I'm all for it. I have a probably foolish hope that Ultra Mode technology introduces better support for such things (which would degrade gracefully in non-ultramode). But as a user of the short skirts I have to object to calling them "tasteless" and "slutty." I think the short skirts are perfectly acceptable: even my MA/SR has a costume with the short skirt. Its not like I crime-fight commando or anything.

I doubt that positive rep is going to last long with all the negativity oozing from the OP's posts.

One of my PB's does. It was the only way i could get thigh-high stockings for one outfit to look right. Between the skirt, glowing energy trails when airborne and not doing high kicks it's pretty unlikely that anyone's noticed. Her normal combat gear is more along the lines of light body armor than a miniskirt and stockings anyway.

My girlfriend actually told me yesterday, before I saw that this thread existed, that she would play more COX if there were long dresses in the game, as she thought the current options all looked like "office clothes"

EDIT: Check it: http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Tsoo#Lost_Son He does all three of the most extravagent MA kicks in a skirt.
Hmmm... think I'll make a MA mission full of Lost Sons attacking JLove....

As the proud owner of a Lich which has the same stretch-skirt as the Lost Sons, I'm able to make him do all the same emotes that players use in the game. And there really are less than a handful of emotes where clipping is obviously a problem (e.g., crouch). But that means it's not a problem for 98% of the emotes.

And with regard to the combat animations which may be a problem, the high flying kicks normally come and go so quickly that the super-stretch of the skirt isn't a big deal. And now that players can chose alternate non-kicking animations...

Is there really any reason left why the super-stretch skirt shouldn't be added to the game?

JLove was a hold-out against certain costume pieces he deemed unmanly for the male models (kilt, cat, and bunny tail), but we all know that decision got changed. Time for this decision to change, too.

Dispari,

On a side note: how did you get the "hose" look on her (ie slightly darker skin tone on her legs, without it being an obvious body-stocking)? Or is that just an artifact of the screenshots?

My guess is that it is "high heels" with "tights" colored to a very light grey or the tan-ish color at the far right of yellow/orange. I did the same thing on another character who needed "office attire".

It's just a brown-tinted tights option. I use it on a couple toons and outfits.

It's a great alternative to fishnets when you want some leg accessories.

EDIT: Also, I made a winter outfit for my main character using the bolero. I think it looks pretty good:

Actually, the only cape entity that isn't mutually exclusive to other cape entities is the wedding pack tux, picking trench coat, bolero, wedding veil or any back item will keep the others from even appearing in the costume list.
