Here's *my* evil jacking-up-prices story.
I was clearing out my inventory on a 50 redsider. Vendored off all the Arcane commons except two Rubies, because I know there's always a shortage of those. Put Rubies on the market asking for the incredibly high price of 400 inf. That is a net profit of 360, or 110 inf more than I'd get by selling it to a vendor.
Both rubies sold a moment later, 400k each, for a total of 800k.
Not long after, I heard someone Cap Broadcast go "wft why are rubies so expensive" and someone else blaming "cheaters".
So, there you go. I am one of those people who profit from extremely high Salvage prices. -
Quote:Please be Sonic Judgement, please be Sonic Judgement...We can be reasonably sure that there's an i21.5 with another Incarnate Trial on the way before the end of the year, but if they add anything new, it'll be additional powers for the existing slots (the way that i20.5 added a ton of new pets for the Lore slot).

Quote:Group A/C: I want to play on THIS server but it's not up/there aren't enough people! I *demand* the Devs fix the server RIGHT NOW/merge this server with others so there's more people on it!Group A play on specific servers and then complain when they are down. They get called out on this by group B saying they could be playing on other servers. Group C says servers are dead and asks when are the servers going to be consolidated. Group B counters saying they like it where they play and don't want to play on those other servers.
Group B: Why don't you just roll characters on servers that are up/servers that have more people?
Group A/C: No, that is unacceptable, I want to play on *this* server and I'm entitled to it. If it's not up when I want to play/doesn't have enough people for my tastes, that shows the Devs aren't doing everything they can. If they were really working with their customers in mind, the server I want to play on would be up/would have enough people.
Group B: The Devs are not going to bend over backwards to accomodate you personally, you realise.
Group A/C: Fanboi! Bootlicker! Corporate stooge! -
Level 40 common IOs are still made with midlevel salvage, which is really freakin' expensive.

I just bought a bunch of fish fingers the other day. I think I'll make some for dinner tonight.

Quote:I've been working on getting some of my non-main 50s Incarnated, and since nobody was running Lambdas anymore I bit the bullet and started putting them together. Two or three each evening. Every one succeeded.A good friend in one of my SGs asked me what was happening with trial leadership recently.. he'd been on a number that were poorly organized and failede misreably. My theory is this...
The really good leaders that we all loved teaming with now have every single one of their characters to 50 (+3) with all powers slotted to tier 4 and are playing lower levels toons or may even be on Beta getting a heads up on issue 21. What we have now is the bottom of the barrel.. players that THINK they know what they are doing trying to lead and blaming the failures on everyone else BUT themselves.
So.. that's my rant. What sort of nightmares have you al been running into lately
Thanks for the vote of confidence though. -
I don't really have a strong opinion on this, so here's about a dozen copy-pastes of the word "goldfish". Per your instructions, I put them between dash lines so you know not to read them.

Quote:Stilettos here too, a lot of the time. And mini skirts. I can't help it, the legs just look too good that way!Female characters *always* get Stillettos or Thigh High boots. Always. It just looks right, nothing like clambering through rubble, climbing rocks, or fighting off all of their foes in their spiked heels and hose... And usually, midriffs are revealed. And they're at least slim-to-athletic. Then again, I'm a male pig. Oink.
I don't have a lot of male chars, but each of them *will* have a dedicated barechested costume slot.
I'm a bi perv.

Quote:I've taken the liberty to clarify this graph a little:In an academic setting, you'd lose major points for labeling a graph that poorly. The axes aren't identified at all, the units aren't specified, and the overall title is about as vague as it can be and still be a title. What are we supposed to be looking at? The X axis appears to be time as measured by fiscal quarters, which implies that the Y axis is... something to do with subscription or concurrent login numbers, maybe?... but expecting your audience to glark the meaning of your graph from context is exceedingly sloppy work. Never mind that you didn't cite the source for the data that went into the graph in the first place. That's the statistical equivalent of "pics or it didn't happen."

Quote:But in the specific case of the same TF, on the same character, within 20 horus, you can't get two Alpha components? The timer on the "once per day" rewards is 20 hours. So theoretically, you could get as many as 6 of the Incarnate Salvage rewards in a 5 day period. Also, the timer is per TF - You can get one from ITF, one from LGTF, etc, etc, with the only possible overlap being STF/LRSF - I'm not sure if they count as the "same" TF for purposes of the Incarnate salvage. I can confirm that they count separately for Hami-Os and Merits, so I suspect it's the same with the Salvage.
-
If I ran the LGTF once on a character and chose the Hero 1 DNA, and then I ran it again within the same day, can I get another Hero 1 DNA, or will only Merits me available?
I checked Incarnate Component and Alpha Slot on the Wiki, and they don't seem to mention any time limit, but the Wiki doesn't always have full information. -
A great book I read once with advice for fledging writers said "know what the chase is, and cut to it. If the first interesting thing happens on page 100, consider cutting out the first 99 pages".
There is no "impatience" in that. It's just basic storytelling. If your book or movie or game is about a hero beating up bad guys, you need to show him beating up bad guys, not spend a lot of time on how he gets to the place where he will beat up the bad guys. (Exceptions can be made for plots which are *about* the hero trying to get somewhere, because it's somewhere difficult to get to or there's a time limit. But something that could as well be copy-pasted from Google Maps directions? No.)
Because of the subscription model and the relative time of creating content versus the players getting through it, MMOs have long been mired in the paradigm of "add in as much pointless filler as possible so that everything takes longer". The current trend of moving away from that is a good thing. -
I am of the opinion that being short and straightforward, not having large amounts of space to explore, having impressive visuals but no meaningful challenge, and featuring the signature NPCs prominently are all *good things* for what's supposed to be a player's first steps into the game.

Quote:If I see someone whose bio shows they have a different RP style to mine, I don't walk up to them and initiate RP.This attitude annoys me to no end and I'd like to know how others deal with it. I've got more questions but I'll stop with this for now, and I hope we can actually have a conversation about these bullet points. I would honestly like to know others opinions and how they handle these situations.
(If I see someone whose bio just says 'RP to find out...', I stay away on general principle.) -
Which is exactly my point. The Devs are not opposed to farming on principle, they are opposed to anything that makes you play for far less time than you would otherwise.
-
Paragon Studios is a business. They would like you to be subscribed for as long as possible. With that in mind, there are no contradictions in their stance on farming: they would like you to play for a longer time rather than a very short time.
Taking 3 months to reach level 50 by running varied content = good.
Taking 6 hours to reach level 50 by running a single farm = bad.
Running each new Incarnate Trial once and then being done with it = bad.
Running the existing Trials many times over several weeks before having all the things you want = good. -
I have a level 50 DM/Fire Scrapper who I'd been planning on rerolling and changing sides constantly as I level, with the ultimate goal of seeing all or most of the Alignment Missions. Up to now, I'd been discouraged by the fact the 1-20 game is pretty boring, but I21 fixes that.
I may also change her to a DM/Fire Brute, not entirely sure yet. But it's nice to have the option. -
In the general scheme of things, storage space ranks pretty low in "things I want to spend my VIP points on", but if I ever find there are no new powersets or costume pieces that interest me, I might be interested.
Oddly enough, I'd probably go for the Vault first, because all of my alts everywhere tend to squirrel away midlevel Uncommons and Rares in their Vaults "just in case I need them". A second Enhancement tray would be next, and after that, I dunno. -
-
The costumes are still fairly busy - the low-level minions could probably use some plainer, less ornate designs. Aside from that, the robe bits and glowy eyes really help bring it back to be Circle of Thorns-like. Thumbs up.

Quote:That's not really any better.Maybe he was looking for someone of a similar level to setup a semi-regular team with (this would in fact be my first assumption on getting the question). Perhaps he was just making conversation. Or maybe (and this is stretching it) he was hoping that you weren't going to play them much (meaning the character was not important to you) and that therefore he could convince you to give him the name.
Yeah, okay, maybe I was a little hasty. Next time I get asked something similar, I'll at least wait to hear what exactly they want from me before I tell them "no". -
Quote:Enhancements (note spelling: "improve" not "put some magic in") are slotted into powers, and as a general rule, they only work on the power they are slotted into. Also a couple of newb questions I'll slip in. 1. Can multiple enchantments of the same type "stack" on a power? 2. Do enchantments "spread" across to help with your toon (ex. Does run enhancements on sprint and speed(?) stack? 3. Sets. Do they have to be on same power? I ask these questions to have a better build and not waste valuable enchantment slots.
Thank you again for helping this newb out.
If you slot Damage into an attack, that attack does more damage, nothing else.
Now, Swift and Sprint *do* stack, but that's because they both increase your overall Run Speed. So just having them will give you a certain speed. If you slot a RunSpeed Enhancement into Swift, the bonus of Swift increases and your character runs faster, but Sprint is unaffected. You can then slot Sprint too, for even more extra runspeed.
For the same reason, Set IOs do need to be in the same power to be considered a "set". If you slot two of a set on one power and another two of the same set in another, you don't get the 3 and 4 slot bonuses, just twice a 2-slot bonus.
The only exception to the rule are Set Bonuses themselves, which *do* apply to every power once you get them. There are also some special IOs like the Luck of the Gambler +7.5% Global Recharge, which just as the name implies, adds 7.5% Recharge Reduction to all your powers.
