The ability to get an additional costume slot away from a Free Player when they run their costume mission. I figure I'll just hang around iCon until I have like 30 of 'em, shouting "Work faster, Freems!".

Quote:But that's terrible marketing, just like all those times they publish interviews on all those websites that have nothing new in them, just old question, old question, no comment, old question! Everyone knows the best way for CoH to get lots of new subscribers is to put lots of juicy new info about upcoming features somewhere I- the playerbase can easily access it. And TV ads. They gave PC Gamer the exclusive so PC Gamer would print and promote the article prominently, so that the people who read PC Gamer would hear about City of Heroes. Because *that* is what NCSoft is in the business of doing: finding ways to get other people to publish information about its products, hopefully encouraging people to give the game a try.
How are people supposed to get excited about Freedom if I- if the average Net denizen can't see the info in PC Gamer? I'll- people will completely lose interest by the time it's here and it'll get zero new subscribers!
I'm just thinking about the long-term health of the game, here. -
I've never had a Very Rare component drop from the trials, but right after changing my main's hero costume to use Ascension Radiance pieces, I got two Very Rares in a row. Is this Paragon Studios' way of making us wear the shiny new uniforms? This is a really bad idea. CoH's greatest strength has always been in the character customisation, and it saddens me to see they are forcing us all to wear the same glowy armor instead.
Disclaimer: This is not a serious post. I did get my first two VRares in a row right after changing into my Ascension outfit, but that was probably a coincidence and the Ascension Armor probably doesn't influence what drops you get.
Probably. -
Just a note... this is technically against the TOS, so nobody sane is going to admit to liking it on the official forums.
It's like posting a poll "where do you get most of your inf: farming, marketing, RMT?" Nobody is going to admit to the last one.
Carry on. -
Also, the Mu hold aimation as an alternate for Tesla Cage.

I know, right? I was *finally* almost rid of my altitis - every time I had an idea for a new character, I knew that to get to 20 I'd had to either play through the ages-old Hero lowbie stuff, or the frustrating and ambush-filled Praetorian arcs, or the same few Villain arcs in Mercy, Oakes and Cap. And they have to go and ruin it with an all-new tutorial and lowbie experience, and letting me make redside ATs in Paragon at level 1. Curse you Devs!

Quote:An "Echo of Galaxy City" will be available through Ouroboros for badge purposes. Sounds like it could make a very good RP gathering spot for people perpetually stuck in the past.Seriously, I remember Gemini Park quite fondly as well. Lot of good times there. It'll be missed, but it's nice to see the devs finally progressing things a little. We've had the same static story since the Rikti War Zone became a co-op area, about time they push it forward.

My favourite AT is definitely Defenders. I lean very heavily on the buff/debuffs, only falling back to my other set occasionally. That works pretty well for Corruptors too, but it makes me absolutely lousy at playing Controllers.
When I'm playing a Defender, I'm on support. I'm the stagehands who swap out the sets and manipulate the lights, I'm the people delivering supplies to the army, I'm the drummer who gives the band a beat to stick to. I stay quietly in the background and if I do my job right, the only thing anyone notices is how smooth things have gone. That's fine by me - all I need is to know that I helped. -
Quote:When I want to RP Silver Gale as a hero who stops bad guys and saves the world, I play the actual game. I run missions with SGmates and exchange witty banter with the NPCs.(the D sucks and everyone in it sucks)
I would love to meet some RPers who don't live vicariously through their characters.
If you're roleplaying a normal person sure. But if you're roleplaying a superhero/supervillain/etc it should be easy to strike up a situational conversation.
I much preferred Gemini Park because you'd actually find characters there that didn't look like they'd jumped straight out of a Cyberpunk RP.
When Silver Gale is at the D she's Megan Knight, looking for interesting people to chat to, and keeping one ear open for gossip from the Isles and Praetoria. Peter Parker as opposed to Spider-Man. Or Bruce Wayne at a charity event. Playing a character in their off-time in addition to during missions allows me to get a better handle on their personality overall.
Sure, there may be an element of wish-fulfilment to it. In RL I'm not very good in social situations, clubs are loud and alcohol is expensive. But if I can use CoH to vicariously experience flying, casting spells and saving the world, why can't I use it to vicariously experience being a successful social butterfly? Wish fulfilment in RP isn't bad as long as it doesn't become your most important goal.
(And for me, it's not. I don't mind my character occasionally looking foolish, or occasionally losing a fight. They're just more interesting situations to have my character react to.)
I think your main problem with the D is just that it's not Gemini Park.
(Also? My personal pet peeve that the D seems to be full of is a bio empty but for "RP to find out more". They may be an ERPer or overly serious or a drama llama, and you'll never know until you've committed to talking to them! Yeah, no.) -
It may be because I missed Gemini Park's glory days, but I find it's easier to start up RP in the D. "Hey there, come here often?" to a stranger in a bar seems natural, but the same line in a park makes me feel like some sort of creep.

Quote:This is not especially intuitive, but check your Accolade badges for "Alpha Unlocked". Right underneath, there should be a progress bar that says "Earn Incarnate XP from the Trials to unlock this badge". Mouse over that for an exact count of how much Incarnate XP you have out of how much is needed.I was going to ask how much iXP you get from burning a thread, but I figured I had enough now that I could just find out myself. The GUI doesn't tell you until after you do the conversion (which is not ideal). It's 50,000 points. Obviously, the next question is: how much is 50,000 points? I don't see anything to tell me how many points I need total, so the number 50k is pretty meaningless by itself. Apparently that turns out to be about 3%. I went from 7% to 10% in Judgement and 11% to 14% in Interface. So about 33 threads, and 33 million inf, to unlock each slot?
I believe it's 1.5 million for Judgement and Interface, and 2.5 million for Lore an Destiny. -
Mindlessly shouting down anyone who dares tell the TRUTH about how Inf is incredibly hard to make unless you buy it from RMTers.

Quote:Bet you anything that impatient Trial leaders will start kicking people who haven't entered about 20 seconds into the 60-second window.Amusing... but what I'd like instead is to take pointers from other games and make a UI acknowledgement that someone has clicked the button (e.g. changing the color of their name or placing a marker icon next to/on top of their name). That way, everyone knows who the idjit is.

Quote:I'm fine with people who are finnicky about who they team with. You can make closed leagues now, and all the more power to you.Just goes to prove that you can't force or bribe people to team together if they don't want to. They will either kick the unwanted extras or set closed leagues.
The problem is that even the people who just want to get on a Trial, and don't particularly care who else is there - the people who, ostensibly, the LFG queue is *for* - still gather in RWZ and spam Broadcast instead of just entering the queue. -
If the changes in I20.5 to the queue mechanism and open/closed Leagues were meant to encourage people to form PuG Trials by entering the queue, then they failed miserably. On Virtue, at least, there was a big crowd in the RWZ all spamming "LF any trial" or "LF Keyes", just like before.
Some observations:
1) In the queue, you have no idea how many people are in the queue, and how long it might take until you can start a Trial. If you manage to join a Trial League being formed, you at least see the League growing as more people are invited, and you know the more people you see, the closer you are to starting. Unless you get stuck in the "people are leaving because they're tired of waiting so the team leader tries to recruit more people so the Trial gets delayed making people get tired and leave" infinite loop at the last minute.
Suggestion: make the queue at least list a number of people currently waiting. Either get rid of the "average wait time", or only factor in people who actually pressed the button to get in queue - that way, you count only the team leader of a pre-formed Trial.
2) I'm not entirely sure all the people who normally play Trials know how to get in the queue. It's possible some people see the process as "go to RWZ, get invited to League by some sort of wizard, the wizard does *something* and the 'enter Trial' button appears".
Suggestion: Big red flashy button that tells you "CLICK HERE TO JOIN A TRIAL" and opens the LFG window. Doesn't vanish until you've joined the queue at least once. Character-based.
3) Open Leagues are a good idea, and hopefully the queue will now actually put you into one mid-Trial as long as it's not full, but you can get the buff and extra Astral if you join the queue with a full prebuilt League. So nobody does anything differently.
Suggestion: A maximum of one team can join aiming for an Open League. If you have two teams or more, you can only start a Closed League.
Thoughts? -
Joined a PuG, everyone ran all over the map, died a lot, kept hogging power cells and taking shots at AM, half my team quit before the third phase, we never managed to take down AM. Waiting a week or two before trying again so I have a better chance at teaming with competent people.

Quote:Well don't do speed runs, then.Considering I just ran a BAF (first trial in two and a half weeks) and earned 4% towards Judgment, it definitely depresses me. "Only" 24 more speed runs before I can start working on Lore.
Get on MoBAF runs, or put together your own "keep AVs around while we beat up as many robots as possible" runs. You can get as much as 30% Judgement in one run, especially now that you don't need to be on the adds team to earn the iXP. -
Quote:No. Praetorians who haven't travelled to Primal can go as far as Pocket D, but can't leave out either door.I know that our Lv.50s can go the GR area, but is it possible for our GR toons to leave the GR starting zone and go to the hero side and team with heroes before they have chosen a side to be on?
Quote:Also, when our Lv.50s go to the GR area is it possible for them to get mission that Lv.50 missions and then mentor a lowbie GR character while they complete their Lv.50 GR missions? -
There's a downtime today for Issue 20.5 launch. Downtime announcement
For future reference the technical issues forum is here: Gameplay/Technical Issues forum -
Incidentally, here's a good example of what that "by submitting content to the Service you give NCSoft full rights to use it to the extent the law allows" line in the EULA is supposed to cover.

Now that the prices are more reasonable, I can also afford to outfit some of my other Incarnates:
