It is within their usual maintenance period right now, and possibly I20.5 is going up today, so I'd say that the servers are likely down.

I'm with you. 8:00 am EST and can't get past log in either. Exact wording:
The game client was unable to connect to the login server. This may be due to a local network issue such as a firewall block, or may be because the login server is down for maintenance. Please check your network settings and try again, or check http://www.cityofheroes.com/servers/index.html for current server status.

I only ask because I see no-one else asking and yet out-of-the-blue I can't get past login. An hour or so ago I was able to login just fine, then about half-an-hour ago I went to log back in and I got past the login to the point where you choose servers except they were all three grey dots. This happened twice in a row. However now when I go to login I get the 'Possible local network issue or login server is down' message. Scratching my head over this one as I've got no local network issues, I can connect to websites and other online games fine still -- just not CoH game servers. I also haven't changed anything, my subscription is paid up, the servers are up (according to the website), it's not the usual maintenance day and yes I have all the required ports for port forwarding set-up in my router. I wouldn't post this here except I can't find the tech support forum I'm sure that used to exist.
