I suppose it's nice to have that little bit of backup, but at a point its like wearing a parachute to go hang gliding.
Transference recharges fast and refills your end bar which is fantastic, but I still slot for good end rdx, get recovery bonuses and take Stamina on my Kins for one reason.

The more +rec/end rdx you have, the less you need to hit Transference. With Kin being as busy as it is, you have to prioritize. The more you have to hit Transference, the less you're doing other awesome Kin stuff.

My thing about Brute vs Tanker survivability is that while a Tanker will pretty much always be tougher, being that tough isn't necessary.

A Brute, with IOs and/or team support, can be tough enough to take the punishment of anything that is realistically going to be thrown at them.

In any situation where you've got anything that does enough damage to warrant the toughness of a Tanker, you've generally got enough team support to enable a Brute to take the punishment and do far more damage in the process.

Yes, a Tanker, (depending on Primary, skill, slotting, etc etc), could tank them without support. That's not really meaningful unless your team is 7 Blasters and the Tanker.

    I'd rather have the Brute.
  3. I agree that Doms are more comparable to Blasters than Controllers.

Either way, Doms won't replace Controllers or vice versa. They're both incredibly powerful ATs.

I just personally prefer Doms to Blasters because they both bring lots of damage and while the Blaster brings more damage, the Dom brings a lot more utility.
  4. Fire/Rad is an awesome combo, great solo and teamed. Awesome ST and AoE damage, great buffs and debuffs and just fun as hell.

Shameless Plug: I've got a rad guide in my sig if you want to take a look /Shameless Plug
  5. Take slots out of Speed Boost, put them in Neutrino Bolt. That way you can get another 6.25% rech with Decimations in NBolt and swap the Geddons for Obliterations. Forgot to mention btw, might want to put a generic acc into Transfusion.
  6. Looks pretty good. There are a few things you might want to tweak:

Most importantly, you've got no KB protection. Since Kins are in melee a lot, you'll want at least 1 KB IO. I'd take a slot from somewhere and put a Karma -KB in CJ.

You can drop the second acc from Siphon Power, once you've got FS you won't be using it much, you've got decent global acc for when you do want to use it and all the Rad Blast -def will ensure that missing won't be a problem.

As a matter of personal preference, I'd swap the Lady Grey proc for the Achilles proc. While dmg procs are great because they function as additional damage even at the damage cap, I think the Achilles proc is more useful because if you've got yourself and most of the team damage capped, -res is far, far more beneficial.

You can take the 6th Posi out of Neutron Bomb, (I'd drop the dam/range), since the toxic res is meaningless. If you want to 6 slot it, I'd put in the Lady Grey proc.

Last thing is: I'd drop the BU proc from Cosmic Burst. While you will be spamming CB, the +tohit is meaningless with the -def from Rad and the +damage isn't worth much either due to Fulcrum Shift. The set bonus isn't really worth it either, so IMO you'd be better off with one of the triple enhancers from Thunderstrike or Devastation, or the Devastation quad so you can round out the numbers on your best ST attack.

    Hope that helps

  10. Removeablesleeves, Glad you found it helpful. Thanks for the heads-up about the setup link, I'll take a look later and fix it

SpACatta, Sorry you didn't like them. Did the bit about not receiving enough hugs as a child strike a little too close to home? Or maybe the bit about the father who wished things had turned out differently?

    Let me know

Honestly, the biggest hurdle wasn't being able to outdmg/hold the greens, but not dying while doing so. With 2 Permadoms and 2 Controllers we had plenty of MAG, we just had to be really careful taking out the Mitos and use EoEs so we didn't get squished.

We figured it was best to take more time and be careful than go full speed and spend time restarting because someone got splattered

I'm really glad we managed to get this done before the fix, hehe.

    Yes, I was being facetious.

    Yes, I am a hombre

I agree that TA is decent, but underperforming relative to other sets.
  15. I personally am a fan of the suggestion that Luminara, Rush_Bolt and Trickshooter would be jumping to conclusions about TA.

SS/FA. SS/WP is a good farmer on a budget, SS/SD is good but not as good as SS/FA.

Strikeshadow rolled Kaudiru is a demi-shard creature, part human, part Shadow Shard. After being "rescued" as a refugee he met Dust Raven and helped to awaken his powers. He followed Dust Raven to the Rogue Isles mainly as a curiosity.
Awesome I think you guys'll really enjoy them. I love my Fire/Dark Corr.

If you mainly like melee and Dark Miasma, I'd definitely go for a Corr/Brute duo or dual Dark Miasma Corrs.

Speaking to your point about Fury though, I don't know what combo you're using but you should be able to maintain good Fury just taking the alpha of a spawn and using your attacks.

Use Brawl to fill out your attack chain if it's not full already, since attacking builds Fury more reliably than getting attacked (because of mezzing, -rech debuffs etc).

Just being the first into a spawn and taking their alpha then attacking as usual should get you plenty of Fury. What you should also do is save your really slow heavy hitting attacks for once you've got Fury built up. Use your lower damage, faster recharging attacks with Brawl to build up Fury, then go nuts.

It's interesting to see Brutes and Scrappers get so much love, and yet see so little mention of Controllers in response. One combination that, up to now, has proven repeatedly successful when I've duoed with Raven has been Scrapper/Controller. Our initial pair is his MA/WP and my Mind/Emp, and this is part of what gives us the desire to try and find the "uber" duo for us.

What's funny, is that, in other combinations we've played, it hasn't mattered which of us was the scrapper and which was the controller. He's run a Grav/Kin with my DM/Regen to much the same effect. It pretty much boils down to one of us holding them all still while the other beats the %$#@! out of them. So that may lend some insight into our playstyle.

Now, not everything we play is Scrap/Troll... we've both played many of the ATs in varied combinations, and depending on what we're fighting, there have been varying degrees of awesome involved... in some cases very little.
Dom and something else could work. Two Dominators, even. Both of you would be the Controller/Scrapper Locking things down and killing em.

That said, for my responses anyway, bear in mind I'm redside biased I love the redside ATs, find the blueside ones really tedious.

For a relatively objective response to go redside, all of the redside ATs tend to trade defense for increased offense. The advantages of this in a duo where you're always playing together is that you can build/play to cover each others weaknesses so all you've got is the awesome offensive flexibility, while also being able to solo capably if necessary.

For example, a Brute and a Corr. Brutes can be squishy since they use Scrapper numbers but their Tanker buff caps and Fury mean they benefit greatly from support. Corrs don't have as high buff/debuff values as Defenders or the lockdown capability of Controllers, but they more than make up for it in damage.

If I had to pick something I really am not fond of, I'd have to say Assault Rifle (mainly due to playstyle) and Traps. The visuals behind FF also grate on my nerves, because it looks like soap bubbles.
Of the sets you've mentioned, Dark Miasma and Traps are the ones that jump out at me for being part of an awesome duo.

Two /DM Corrs would be awesome, since one DM is pretty great and two would be monstrous.

I just have to wrap my head around the reason the character has said powers. So, combos that don't necessarily lend themselves conceptually to each other are hard for me to get into. (That said, there are lots of ways to make an argument for logistics when it comes to power sets...)

Oh, and by the way... I, too, have seen the awesomeness that is a well-played dual-corruptor pair! It's one of many I was considering.
Well, I can't tell you what concept to make, but given what you said above, you might like an AR/Traps corr. Easy to find a concept for that

The Traps playstyle doesn't really gel all that well with Brutes though (either toebombing or pulling) so you may want to run dual Corrs or Corr/Dom for AR/Traps.
  20. Given you like melee types and she likes the more ranged ATs, you might want to give a Brute/Corr duo a go.

Brute + Kin = destroy basically anything the game can throw at you. SS/FA + Fire/Kin is a monstrous combination. Any of the Corr secondaries with ally buffs (Cold, Sonic, Therm, Pain) are also great for helping a Brute stay on their feet vs massive spawns.

If you both like the Dark sets and Corrs, you could both make /Dark Corrs. One Fire/Dark Corr is a beast, two of them would be awesome Double Tar Patches, double Fearsome Stares, double DNs and Servants, double RoFs, pretty sick.

If you could provide some more info about what kind of sets specifically you guys like I could give you more detailed recommendations.

I dunno, wouldn't the Armageddons and the FotG proc be better in Slice (or whatever the cone is called, I forget) or Whirling Sword?

I know you want to make the most of Headsplitter, but I think you'd get better use of the procs in an AoE where they can hit more targets with greater frequency.

I'd probably put 5 Obliterations in Headsplitter (all but damage as with Werners Geddons suggestion) and something else in the 6th slot depending on the rest of your build. An end rdx if you've got end problems, another damage proc if you don't.

Edit: Unless it's an AV soloing build, in which case you won't be using (or even taking?) the AoEs, so Armageddons would the choice for Headsplitter.

Defender Sonic Blast is stupid-good because of their buff/debuff mods.
