I'm fairly certain that he said the bullet broke up inside the deer and the fragments were slowed coming out, which is why he didn't die.

Honestly, I find that to be a waste of merits anyway myself. So yes, unless you purchase an Alpha unlock, you have to do Mender Ramiel's arc in Ouro before Incarnates are unlocked for that character.

I think you already know this, but this arc only unlocks your Alpha slot. Judgement, Lore, Destiny, and Interface all have to be unlocked with iXP in trials.
Do the iTrials themselves not award iXP to unlock your Alpha anymore?

  5. Before I lay out the build, I want to establish that I've never played either of these sets into the teens, much less to 50. This is a build I made for a friend at her request (okay, it was more of a challenge, she was told by a SG mate that softcapping a DP/Devices couldn't be done). Her build requirements were Super Speed for travel, as much of the Medicine pool as possible, and enough recovery to not bottom out while fighting. After talking with her and tweaking, I switched out Targeting Drone for Suppressive Fire because she liked it better. I slotted it with Stupefy to get back the +recovery lost from losing the Gaussian's set, while still keeping the high ranged defense.

Is there anywhere this can be tweaked to be more efficient?

    Is this right?

Awesome, that's what I was hoping for. Thanks!
  7. Shawn Sage

    Is this right?

I was tinkering in Mids' to make a ranged softcap build for my level 42 fire/fire/fire blaster, and came across something weird. I've got 5 full sets of Thunderstrike for the total 3.75% bonus. I also stuck a 2-set of Blessing of the Zephyr in Hover and Combat Jumping. According to Mids', the 1.25% ranged defense from the BotZ sets still work, even though the Thunderstrike sets have a 1.25% bonus from being 3-slotted. All I can figure is that since the 3-slot bonus is actually a 2.5% E/NE defense bonus, it stacks with the 1.25% ranged from the BotZ despite the fact that the actual bonus to ranged is the same.

Is this how it actually works, or will I need to watch my builds carefully to avoid this?
  8. Shawn Sage

    So Jonah Hex

It was still better than Skyline. >.>
  9. It's not a "scorched earth" reroll, the /SR will still be around. It's a "same character, different name" reroll, mainly for some SG RP reasons.

The remainder of the reason I wanted to do this is because since I've come back to the game (early this year), she's felt really squishy. Before GR, which was when I played last, she tore through +0/x8 anything* without a care. Now, even with a full load of T3 Incarnate abilities and a T4 Alpha, she dies in that same normal +0/x8 content. I'm sure it's a perception issue, I'm not one of the "accuracy is broken" conspiracy theorists. But this "reroll" will give me the chance to see what he could be with a different set, and maybe that will help with my perception issues.

All that said, I'm opening my question to expand to all scrapper secondaries. Given the same budget listed in the OP, which is the toughest when paired with Claws?

*Obviously DE was the exception, but I found myself without issues when facing Nemesis back then...not so much now.
  10. I'm rerolling my main, a Claws/SR, as either a Claws/WP or Claws/Regen. Like the title says, given the same budget (basically unlimited for anything short of purples or PvP IOs, and a purple set or two is possible currently), which can take the most punishment while still dealing good damage?

I didn't mean the movie version. I meant the comics version, Earth-616 specifically.

Just to clarify: you're fine with Michael Clarke Duncan playing this guy, but not okay with Idris Elba playing Heimdall...and your reasoning why is because in the comics he "looks fairly Nordic"?

I dunno, Kingpin "looks fairly white" to me in the wiki.

And to address the "gods or aliens" issue, I was always of the understanding that the gods of the Marvel Universe were extra-dimensional entities, some truly immortal and some not quite, that inspired myths and legends. Both gods and aliens, really.

This wouldn't matter for the other incarnate abilities, but it could mean double-Lore pets or a much better duration/recharge ratio, because Lore pets would be summoned prior to the combat-equip blocker.
You can't switch out an Incarnate power while it's recharging. I found that out the other day when I tried to upgrade my Lore pet. Had to wait until it recharged to be able to make the Tier 3 with it.
  15. It's weird, because I looked for that when I made this build, but didn't see it...turns out scrolling up is a skill I needed to learn.

About 50% S/L DEF (which will let me stay just above softcap until I can get the PvP +3% IO), perma-Hasten (with the purple sets; without, it won't quite be, but I can live until I can afford those). Between Hibernate and Drain Psyche, I should be good for END, I think. If not, I guess I could go Cardiac. I deliberately left Incarnate choices and Accolades empty (because I don't have them yet).

Anyway, enough rambling. Can anyone help me tighten this one up?

  16. Shawn Sage

    I'm a superhero

Also a superhero. But definitely not born the same year as Olantern. >.>
  17. Thread title explains it all. I've got it softcapped to S/L (barely), but...I dunno, it just feels weird to slot Brawl. :p

Anyway, any critiques are welcome, especially if they improve it any.

  18. This is a build I'm debating switching to on my Claws/SR scrapper. I went for the Incarnate softcap and got pretty close. If I slot a T4 Nerve, my defenses hit just over 62%. I plan on sticking with Musculature for my Alpha, and stacking some -tohit via the Void Judgment and Diamagnetic Interface. Debating between the Barrier and Rebirth Destiny. The constant extra 5% defense would be nice, but +200 regen is nothing to sneer at. Any thoughts on optimizing this?

  19. What about soft-capping Melee on a Fire/MM? Lots of PBAoEs, and with Drain Psyche you're right in the middle anyway. Easier or harder (in terms of build compromising, not INF costs) than going for S/L?
  20. Actually, the Hood brought them back to life. Frank didn't like that one bit, so he burned them alive.

It's actually been implied in his latest mini that his wife, Maria, is still alive and working with the Jigsaw Brothers to bring him down.
  21. I'm trying to decide whether to take my SS/Inv Brute or my Inv/SS tank through the Incarnate content. I'm wondering, can the Brute be made as sturdy, or nearly as, the tank with similar IO investments?

If so, and if I'm not incorrect in my thinking that Brute damage will be better with similar IO investment, is there a reason that I'm missing to choose my tank?
  22. For anyone interested in issues 1 or 2 that might have missed them, Diamond shows issue 1 still available for order and in stock, and issue 2 on back-order.

Troy, I'll be ordering a couple extra copies to give to friends, and a few of the trade that will hopefully exist. Great, fun stuff.
  23. I'll lock, too. Moving has me too tired to care to look for anything better.
  24. Sorry, new job kept me away from a computer all day.

For KITTEH!, I present the next generation of combat training for animals:

    Kitten vs. Watermelon
