  1. Thank Snow Globe, not me - he's the one who originally got that list sorted out.

(The only reason I'm actually saying that is because the thought of someone with your avatar 'loving' me is somewhat scary )
  2. Easy mistake to make: I very nearly just quoted your original post, which would only have compounded matters.
  3. Biowraith, you might want to remove that global name from your message, since it's against forum rules, but I would also urge anyone who gets an RMT message from anyone to ignore as spammer and/or report them using /petition.
  4. I tend to read .o/ as a high-five.

When actually it's a strange perspective view of an ant on a beach ball rolling down a hill.

And yet /group is a valid command that is an alias of /team. Clearly the developers were aware when they set it up that people would be coming into the game who used "group" to mean what this game tends to call a "team". That's one that I really wouldn't bother correcting someone on.
  6. Got to agree with Giant on this one.

Don't be obnoxious about things, but use CoH terminology when you're responding:

'Can sb help me with this quest?' Speed Boost can help your team with most missions, yes. (Edit: or was that the annoying shorthand for 'somebody'? If it was, change my answer to "I'll help with that mission for you")

'How do I pick a new skill' You get new powers by visiting the trainer.

'need some advice on what spell to choose next' What are the powers you can choose?

'sewer raid forming' I'll take a spot on that Sewer Trial.

'Enhancements - that's gear, right?' Kind of. They improve the power they're slotted into, not your whole character. They're literally an enhancement to the power. (Edit: I'd also expand on this a bit if I were responding, by saying that Enhancements work more like skill levels, where each slot represents a level of skill, but you get to pick and choose what bonus each skill level adds to the power by slotting different Enhancements into them, but I like to give full and complete answers.)
  7. Add:

    Code:
    $$team Your text here.
On the end, inside the ".

    Edit: I think

    Code:
    $$g Your text here.
    Would work just as well.
  8. Thanks for the corrections and refinements, Agge.
  9. You probably want to set up a rotating bind, two text files (let's call them FlyOn.txt and FlyOff.txt)

    /bindloadfile FlyOn.txt

FlyOn.txt needs to contain the following:

    bind f "cce 2 CCLightning$$powexectoggleon Fly$$bindloadfile FlyOff.txt"

FlyOff.txt needs to contain the following:

    bind f "cc 0$$powexectoggleoff Fly$$bindloadfile FlyOn.txt"

I may have the format of bind files incorrect: check Paragonwiki to be sure.-
  10. Because even Positron wasn't sure, when he was asked, IIRC.

Edit: Also, if a free player lays out $5 (getting them to Tier 2) and then later on eventually gets $40 worth of points, would that count as 3 more tokens (having spent $45 on points, total)?
  11. Because all the "regular Joes" are immune to damage and can push aside a granite-form tank by walking into them.
  12. Same here, Wabs. It can be very entertaining seeing how much people are willing to pay for some items.
  13. So, when I end up with my AH slots filled with "junk" that doesn't offload for the paltry sum of 5 inf, because nobody is actually buying it, that's a problem for whom?

The problem is that there is too great a supply of some types of common salvage, so the demand is trivial. I don't care about losing money on some transactions if it keeps some parts of the Market active and lets people like me who want to offload 20 Kinetic Weapons actually do so.

I think that was the point of the anecdote.
  15. Thank you for joining me on the crusade to buy up common salvage!

Every couple of months, I go on a binge to reduce the number of common Tier 3 salvage sitting on the market, regardless of the cost to myself. I tend to stop when the price goes over 1,000 inf, which for the really common stuff tends to be about 2,000 pieces left. Are there any advantages? Not to me, other than driving prices up a bit in the future. Do I care? Nope. Are people making money off me? Sure. I'm still not going to stop.

He's saying that the farmers (actually people willing to PL, rather than drop-farmers) are too thinly spread amongst the 501,234,123,314 different Atlas Park instances on his server (because, you know, hyperbole is a good way to convince people to understand you).

Of course, that's 70+ times as many instances of AP as there are people on the planet, and let's say that each instance caters for 50 characters, so that means that there are 3,500 accounts per head of population of the whole planet, just on that one server, which makes CoH wildly more popular than any other pastime in the entire history of the universe.

If all of those characters were laid end to end, it would reach from the Earth to the Sun 334,000 times. Since the servers went live, over 109,000 characters have been created every second. The character database has 167 times as many characters as human DNA has base pairs.
  18. My wife and I have been together for very nearly 17 years, and married for 6 as of last month, though with our newly spawned Sidekick she doesn't get as much time in-game as she might want (neither do I, for that matter), but we still play together when the chance comes up.

The only funny I can think of during our wedding (which my father was the priest for), was during the vows. I was so nervous that one of my automatic coping mechanisms came up - I tend to start gesticulating. Which I couldn't actually do, because I was looking at my wife, holding her hands. So my hands started rocking back and forward. My wife, thinking I was just doing it in rhythm to the words, joined in, which distracted me enough to almost fluff my lines - I certainly had to think really hard to remember what they were, and frowned disapprovingly at her, which she, quite reasonably, didn't understand.

At the wedding reception, my best men (I really couldn't choose between them, and they come as a pair, anyway) had written an absolutely awesome speech, all in rhyme, with them alternating verses. In something like the third verse, one of them stopped, looked at the other, and said "You cocked up." "No I didn't!" "Yes you did. Look: that one's your line, that ones mine, so that one is yours!" "Oh, yeah. Damn. Okay, go back, we'll start that bit again." "'Kay."

The rest of the speech went off without a hitch.

    And then the day after...

My wife and I, and many of the guests, had stayed the night at the hotel where the reception was held, so in the morning, there were a lot of our friends and families hanging around in the parking lot, and my Dad sauntered over to me.

"Shad? [he actually used my real name] Do you have your marriage certificate?"

"Umm, it's in the car, I think. Why?"

"Errr, I, errr, think I may have forgotten to sign it."

    *blink*

    *blink*

    "Ooookaaaaaay..."

"Don't worry, you are actually married! But if you could grab it for me, I'd better just sign it now..."

    Costume macro

Just to check, you're trying to get it so that there is no CCE on the change to costume 1, right?

So it should be /bind lshift "powexecname Fly$$cc 1$$cce 0 ccevillaugh"

Agree with pretty much everything these two posted earlier.

As an EU player, I'm ambivalent regarding a merge between the Euro and Oceanic Lounges. Part of me wants to see a reduction in clutter on the forum, but another part of me likes the European players having their own chillout section of the forums.

I appreciate wanting to minimise the use of sub-forums if at all possible, but I'd be tempted to suggest some under City Life: The Americas Lounge (US, Canada, Central and South America); The European Lounge (Europe, Africa, Middle East); The Oceanic Lounge (Asia, Australia, India) - split by some broad time-zones, for discussion of things specific to that band of timezones, like Meet and Greets.

(I've consciously kept the existing names rather than renaming the Lounges, just to help get the point across, not because I think, for example, that people in Africa are part of Europe)

I'm also going to chime in that I think the AT forums need to be kept separate, as have the overwhelming number of people here. This is a case where less is definitely not more. The only exception I can see to that is Commander's Multi-parent sub-forums idea, which if possible would eliminate some front-page clutter at the expense of an extra click.

Personally, I don't hate sub-forums, as long as they're logical, though, so I could see a case for (say) Player Questions having a number of sub-forums, such as "General Questions", "Game Lore", "How do I...?" and probably many more. But that is just me, and I can see the case either way.
  21. If costume slots go on sale, I know what I'm buying me as a birthday present...

I bought a DVD box of a series I like, and it came with the first few episodes of the next season as a bonus extra. I didn't feel entitled to the entirety of the next season just because I got a sneak peek.

Surprisingly they respond by saying "Well, we hate to lose you. So we'll keep on paying you but have to cut out the benefits package. Anytime you want to come back to work you can get the benefits again."

Your response to this is "What???? I've worked for you for years and now you're cutting my benefits just cause I don't do any work!"
    That is an AWESOME analogy.
  24. It is just a flat guess. Somewhat educated, though: people have been expecting to get their next allotment of points after Freedom, and haven't had them yet. The point cycle was started on 1 July, the VIP headstart was meant to begin 1 Sept, but was delayed.

People are certainly supposed to get their points on their billing date, but they haven't been. 1 Oct is the next most logical date.
