either way you lose defense EVERY fight....no thanks! not worth slotting at all if you cant keep it.

I can understand the desire to be soft capped in S/L, but there are a lot of attacks that don't have S/L components to them. Clockwork in the new TFs will tear you apart if you only have S/L defense
incorrect my tank never died but once to bobcat after killing neuron first.in apex i didnt die until batte maden.so if yours is dying then your defeating your own case

I like to make my Tankers capable of doing as much content as possible.
funny ive done it all on my build. apex, tin mage, hami,ms raids, all the tfs..what arent you getting done?

Besides, 32.5% is basically soft capped.
ummm no it aint.and after you hit something its more like 28%

My Tanker does fine in most fights at 32.5% defense and saves the inspirations for the tougher fights.
yeah fine isnt what im going with here thanks
  4. wow lots of fire tank threads lately.

i suggest loooking in this section at some of the other threads...theres been alot of postings on builds and suggestions as well you might find helpful

  6. THE team tank would be any tank.

any tank built right can tank for any team with the upmost confidence and also with no issues at all.

most of the answers youll get is from people who play their mains like cma whos a invul,me im a fire tank, aett is an ice tank and dechs is a dark tank.

all of us can tank without question and win at whatever we see infront of us. not cause we picked the best tank but becuase its who we do best on.

see for example..dechs picks a dark tank ( i know right who would have seen that! :P) but for me. dark armor is horrible and although im a fire tank i wont say fire cause it isnt easy to play a fire tank nor is it " the safest" tank to make.

id pick an invul as the best team tank cause its got resistance and def and is totally solid.but in no way shape of form is it the best imo but just the safetest!its easy to use, doesnt take alot of effort and really well maintained and even if you mess up the build its still better then if you say messed up an ice tank or fire tanks build.
  7. incase some of you dont know...the idea of pvp is NOT to die

    .
looking at your build ,you do realize how flawed your defense is when you use stealth for defense purposes and then attack someone right? you drop probably 7% just when you attack alone.stealth only maintains the def bonus when you arent attacking

so if your using stealth for the bonus's thats one thing. but when you lose the defense itself in every positional and s/l just by using your powers then you need to recheck your thinking.so if you turn off stealth your left with what 23% to 28% defense which means your getting hit ALOT!

id rather be soft capped in melee and s/l all the time.then not even a quarter soft capped in anything sorry.sure it would be nice to be able to do all 3 positionals but on a fire tank its just not possible.
  9. as far as your brute goes i also have a fire/fire brute and it seems to be tight for the most part( although i think you should slot up tough alittle better. fire brute are WAY squishey!) but your gonna have end issues badly.i finshed your build for you as you had some slots left.its alittle better now at just over 3 recovery.

get cardiac incarnate alpha slot for either tank or brute itll really help ALOT

  10. i changed a few things on your fire tank that i would do to tighten it up a bit

i used your power choices but moved slots around.now you have better end recovery, less end issues and more resistance.plus youll have more damage since bu is slotted more which is what you want to help with your aoes.

  11. Fire/fire tank has blazing aura/consume/fsc/combustion/burn and pick up fireball...combine them all with b.u. and f.e....yeah there's your god!
  12. since day one of my time on this game I've played a fire/fire tank.he use to solo dreck as an av for the lvl 53 s.o's.he's was the best p.l.er in the game before brutes and fire/kins.

Burn now fixed and you can have up to 5 aoes going at once.plus 2 great s.t. powers for help with bosses.

I've soloed gms both in nov and dec. There really isn't much he hasn't done.every tf with easy and well worth the time.survivaliblity and damage.can't go wrong!
  13. How many active memebers are in earthclan elite anyways?
  14. Thanks to t.a. for 2 hamis and 80 merits tonight..all tanks got their rewards both times!
  15. it was castles idea for the drop rates...

if you dont like it the way it is you should send him a private message on the forums...oops wait..sorry nevermind :P
  16. i sorta like the idea of people staying away from fire tanks anyways..most make bad decisions and cut powers they should have.

plus it makes me look that much better when i out tank invuls and wp tanks.ill just say this..leave fire tanks to the professionals people!
  17. that would be great thanks!..and im redside so i can get mu. just need a build
  18. i got 2 new builds to finally respec my fire brute. and i cant decide. this is usually made for farming too. which is stopping my decision for which to take.

the one build will have the following

    s/l defense -38%
    melee defense - 43%
    recharge - 101%
    recovery - 2.89
    4 aoes - burn,consume,fsc and fireball

    the 2nd build will have

    s/l defense - 45.5%
    melee defense - 46.8%
recharge -25% ( had to drop hasten)
    recovery - 3.06
3 aoes - burn ,fsc and consume ( had to drop fireball.)

question is will i miss that 2% melee defense and 7% s/l defense for beter recharge and another aoe??..either build will be better then what i currently have so its a win.but just not sure what route to go.

    wow can do it...just saying

"unsolvable" wasnt quite the issue now is it.
  20. Im hoping it'll be more about the actual direction of the game then a buncha silly hints that most likely wont ever happen...(I.e. city vault)

Rumors on posi leaving and the older devs gone now does have me a bit worried thaat by the time we get to fully be an incarnate we wont have much of a game left and frankly im only here after all these years for the high lvl content..if it gets pushed aside I wont stick around
  21. Severe

    Best of 2010

Ok so ill take storm chasers as the fav of the year for t.v...if you don't think jumping into tornados isnt must see t.v. then your crazy.

Another vote for the walking dead.but ill also throw nikita in there as well.such a good show and of course supernatural is always there
  22. ok to answer your questions

    1. taunt is never nessecary but always helpful.if your gonna team alot its worth taking to help out the squisheys.plus youll find sooner or later you will have room or it.so it wouldnt hurt to grab it.

2.there is no defense at all so yes your relying on resistance and a heal for your survial.you can however soft cap your defenses but itll cost quite alot since you would be starting from 0 defense to 45% to hit the soft cap.

3.i wouldnt use rotp as part of the attack chain only cause when you get up they can be knocked back causing them to be out of burns range.plus it never looks good for a tank to always be dying..lol...i use it when its needed.for like some of them tougher tfs now.bobcat or neuron hit hard. better for "just incase"

    4. burn is an oddball now for sure but way better. first off it can be buffed by using f.e. and b.u....sendly when it hit it give an initial damage hit then on top goes as a somewhat dot power. with a kin ive had 13 ticks of damage and with just f.e/bp i get like 10 ticks of damage off the mobs. very nice indeed and worth sotting up!

    5. fire has no kb protection at all correct.acrobatics can help however itas another toggle thats very end heavy.most take i.o's to help with this.karma and steadfasts are the most commom used for kb protection. each one gives 4 points o kb protection and usually put in cj or tp or something to that nature.
  23. my fire tanks first build is at 84% right now it could be 86% by replacing a purple set for my glad strike set.but i really dont wanna .i dont know its its totally possible to cap. but i know i can get to around 87% s/l resistance. my ulimate goal is to make him capped in s/l resistance like he was before. im close to my goal. 6 % to go!

    certain sets like:

kinectic crash (2.5% smashing resistance)which you can slot into kick

shield wall 3% resistance can go into weave or manevers or combat jumping

analyze weakness( 1.575% s/l resistance) can go into melt armor

airburst ( .63% s/l resistance) can go into fireball.

gladiator strike( 1.89% s/l resistance) can go into any melee power

edict of the master (2.5% lethal resistance)can go into a pet if you grab a ppp

hibernation ( 1.25% smashing resistance)can go into salt crystals if you grab the earth mastery

the bestway to cap is to take all the single target powers like bof and fs and gfs and incinerate( no fsc or combustion..kinda be almost like a pvp build.) then grab the earth mastery.i bet itll be like 88/89 % ..so it would be REAL close..i just a quicky mids build and it does look possible.but it would totally make your fire tank way off from the aoe damage machine its suppose to be.
  24. Severe

    mids update?

whoops n/m i finalyl got it...i saw the read me file saying toif theres issues to install it outside of the program files . i did and worked perfectly
  25. question brakner...why not use perfect zingers instead of mocking breavements?

is it for the 2% recharge more?

i would think being just over the soft cap is better then being just under the cap plus with nerve alpha youll almost be soft capped in melee defense as well.
