What does the following mean?
"These Tier 9 VIP rewards will be refreshed every 3 to 4 months...."
from the official guidelines -
This is the most complicated thing I have ever seen.
-
My guess is that their system is probably simpler than that, and won't be able to tell the difference between time from a box, from a paid sub, or bonus time as you describe. Still, it probably wouldn't hurt to ask. Worst case, if you don't get an official reply now, it's something they could handle retroactively once points are being rewarded at Freedom launch.

Quote:As far as hat simulators go, CoH could give TF2 a run for its money.
EDIT: I'm actually semi-serious about the hat thing, it would be awesome to do a cross-over where Valve releases some CoH themed hats in TF2 and CoH implements some TF2 themed costume items in CoH. Being able to wear Stateman's or Recluse's Masks on TF2 characters would be very cool and there are a couple of TF2 costume parts that could be remade in CoH (the obvious ones being the Soldier's signature helmet down over the eyes look or the medics backpack). Of course I guess there are a lot of legal implications to doing it so I doubt we'll see it but it would be cool
Here is a link to Steam's FAQ on their support of a few free to play games. -
I know some Hybrid model and Free-to-Play games allow their users to purchase store points with funds from their Steam Wallet. Is there any possibility of this being supported for Freedom? It seems like it might be a worthwhile option to consider.

Dark sets for blasters sound great. Maybe I will finally get a Blaster to 50.
-
I'm glad I am not the only one to notice it. Unlocking slots has become a real drag now. Hopefully it is a bug and the devs recognize it to be not working as intended.

I have noticed a lot lower ixp since 20.5 (generally, maybe around half of what I was used to). Am I the only one?

Quote:Just an aside,Able to start solo. Max team size small enough that no one can zerg through it. If I can't solo the 54 AV, I'm allowed to bring up to two more players, no more than that, to assist. Awards are adjusted accordingly. We have min team sizes, the devs can do max team sizes as well.
Bill, I like the idea of solo incarnate stuff, but I don't want to see any content which demands a team smaller than 8. I really like playing in static groups, and having content locked out because of my team size would be unfortunate. I don't care if some players can speed through this or that mission. -
This seems incredibly false to me. Do you have any evidence? I see many of the same personalities on the forums as I do in the global channels. Heck, they even run the global channels.

Quote:This isn't some conspiracy. Surely players are frustrated by combination of new raid content and new raid rewards which was just released. Also, while it is safe to presume that the devs know about the desire for solo incarnate content, if they want to see less threads on the topic, then they should make a statement on the issue.Okay, so spamming the same thread over and over again on a daily basis and throwing a forum tantrum is okay as long as you get what you want? Got you.
We get it: you want soloable incarnate content. The devs have heard your cries. And since we're doing trials now that have been in the works for at least a year, it's going to take time to make them. We know there are strike teams doing specific things, so the argument of "ALL RESOURCES ARE DOING RAIDS" now is not credible in this situation.
So if you are saying you and your ilk are essentially holding the forum hostage with the same anti-raiding threads posted multiple times daily, please let us know now. It'll be nice to have a list of forum saboteurs to point to. -
I love the raids, but I would also like to run them less often than I currently do. Having story arcs and repeatably incarnate content that I could run, just me and my friends, would please me greatly.
-
The upcoming hybrid model will bring around lots of players sub-50 (many of whom won't have access to incarnate content).
New powersets and lower level content (new praetoria zone and monthly story arcs) will also increase play at all levels.
I don't think 1 new incarnate trial each issue will be a bad thing, as long as it is balanced by similar sub-50 content. -
OP looks great. The current server transfer and respec prices still sound terrible to me though. I would love to know how many respecs you folks sell at the current price point. Anyone on the forums even want to admit to buying one ?
-
Personally, I like freeks because it is game appropriate. Nothing will dissuade me from this charming terminology (except maybe a looming banhammer).
-
I am actually happy about this. I was worried that Praetoria would never have 1-50 leveling content, but this makes me think it someday will!

The goal doesn't seem to be to provide new information, but to reiterate known information to a broader audience. From the questions, its fairly obvious that the basics of Freedom are not understood by many. Not a big deal. Just like how I shouldn't expect to see breaking info when I read a interview about CoH.

Quote:When you said smashing/lethal I assumed you referring to damage types. Gravity would plainly be smashing damage though. I didn't realize you meant weapon sets.Radiation, Sonic, Gravity, Illusion, Plant... I recall they even mentioned a Psi Melee at one point. They could do something with toxic as well. Pretty much anything would be more interesting than YAMWS (yet another melee weapon set).
I'm all for creativity. I just think many creative options will lead back to smashing/lethal/energy damage as they have with many sets already (sonic and kinetics for example). -
-
Conceptually, though, I think smashing/lethal sets offer the most interesting options. What did you have in mind? Another energy set? We have a lot of those already too. I don't forsee them putting out another fire or ice damage melee set.
-
I'm not sure this is the best way to interact with the community. The format is terrible and the questions have no focus. Are you sure you guys want to do this every Friday until Freedom launches?

For a solid game, I think that offering lifetime subscriptions is a terrible idea at launch. For a bad game, they probably work out okay at launch.
I have no idea how lifetime subscriptions would work out for a 7 year old game ... but I don't really care to find out either. -

Quote:While I agree that this is a no-brainer, there are boosts, and then there are boosts.
For instance - offering something like the winter holiday travel IO set, that boosts all of your travel powers, for purchase with Paragon Points would be okay in my estimation. It is a "boost" but one of convenience, not personal power. Especially if the item is actually a recipe that still has to be built into an IO or set of IO's.
Likewise, a purchasable version of the Nemesis Staff, which pretty much everyone in the current game has at this point, would not fall under "too much boost", IMO.
Similarly, if they ever decided to implement store-only IOs with new procs that could only be acquired using Paragon Points, I am okay with that as long as the new procs are primarily visual in nature or a convenience feature.
Purchasing expanded recipe/salvage inventory would be a huge boost in some ways, but one I'd find acceptable. Especially given the ability to earn something reasonably similar in-game, like the Vanguard bag.
I think that we can trust the devs to know where to draw the line between handy/convenient/useful-but-not-required and must-have-can't-be-competitive-without-it boosts.
I agree. Even things like accolade powers, I would be fine with (though minus the accompanying badge). Sadly, I feel like Turbine got lost in this matter. I do think our devs have better sense though, and a better publisher.
