    So you do PvP?
After all it's hardly going to enhance, or affect at all, NPC villains. Just the PCs.
The NPCs could be having roasted toddler for breakfast every morning before heading out to kick puppies on their way to work for all you know and the Mercy Island revamp won't change that in the slightest.

    This.
Last night i was on a BAF run and we were at the point where it's time to take down both Siege and Nightstar. The team i was on was tasked with intercepting the robotic reinforcements.

So i've got the Acid Mortars going *phoont* onto the robot hordes as i alternate Tentacles and Shadow Fall. Of course i'm tossing caltrops under myself and setting up Trip Mines whenever they are ready.

i hear that stealthing noise the Vickies make and see one wading through the caltrops towards my freshly Incarnated little 50(+0) Defendery goblin.
Just as she gets close one of the mines goes off *BOOM* and i see the Vicky go tumbling past and collapse somewhere behind me.
She gets back up and starts through the caltrops from behind...

*BABOOMBOOM* An inanimate Vicky goes flying past me again to land with the rest of her scrapped squad as two or three mines detonate under her.
i spent several minutes laughing after that.

Time Bomb, OTOH, i do not use. While i will set up trap fields to occasionally lure enemies onto my playstyle is usually too mobile and aggressive to make effective use of Time Bomb. Or at least i haven't found one yet.

Some of us would rather those people still be able to play somewhat effectively and have fun in the game than be hindered by their lack of money.
On the plus side, if they make a point of only spending half or less the points they're getting while subscribed they should be able to continue using IOs as normal for months even if they do have to stop spending money on the game.

Those who come back expecting access to everything they used to have pay to use and now expect to get it all for free will possibly be disappointed, but access to most of it will still be very cheap. Far cheaper than it was before Freedom launched.

I wouldn't solo it, but it would definitely contribute strongly to teams, while basically dealing zero damage (so long as you stay away from Mesmerize).
Solo the vast majority of your XP would be from mission completions. Doable, but agonizingly slow. Close enough to impossible to solo for me. It's certainly a character i wouldn't be inclined to play since i generally like to solo a good part of the time.

Whereas now you're completely screwed over if you can't pay because you can't play at all.

I'm still having trouble seeing how folks feel getting to play for FREE is screwing someone over. If your top toon(s) have all of their builds filled with pricey IOs that you don't want to rip out and replace with SOs, play some other character that still has an extra build to spare.

Sheesh, this isn't hard, unless you're trying really hard to make it hard. You can also buy some of the Premium IOs that don't require a license. Or pay the measly two bucks a month for the IO license. I spent more than two bucks on a friggin' single serving of frozen yogurt just today. Jeebos Christos on a stick folks. I'd be a lot more sympathetic to your arguments if you could come up with something besides "playing for free is screwing me over."
    Exactly.
Maybe it's because i live in what's considered a First World environment, but i spend more than $2 *a day* on beverages. Those who whinge about having to spend $2 *a month* to have access to IOs while playing CoX without spending anything more to play the game completely exasperate me. Especially since they're paying approximately 7.5 times that a month to play the game right now.

Anyway, $2 a month works out to under 7 cents a day. If you can't find a way to get an additional 7 cents a day in your budget then playing any computer games at all should probably be one of your lowest priorities.
  7. Nice! i like number 83; it just seems auspicious to me.

Are you reading this thread or some other thread? You can drop to Premium and spend the equivalent of $2 a month to have access to IOs and still play almost all of the game's content. You don't even have to pay the $2 a month if you have enough vet badges. How in any vaguely sane world is that being screwed?

As noted earlier in the thread level shift doesn't have any affect against GMs. The Alpha slot's other bonuses to the character still work, of course, but the level shift itself doesn't do anything when fighting a GM.

It's still in the original Sharkhead location as well as the D. As i recall before the various expansions were tacked on the areas where they are now was just generic warehouse walls.

Best estimate is that less than 10% of the game's population reads the forums. And that's less than 10% reads them ever, not less than 10% reads them every day. i'd say that they mostly either didn't care or pay attention to what you called yourself. People are like that.

Nice to see that the spirit of the MAN build continues.

Anyway, infrastructure and civilization are not synonymous. Civilization can both facilitate and mitigate damage to the environment around a population depending on the principles on which it's based. i think that anyone who considers runaway resource consumption and depletion to be solely the result of civilizations should go enjoy one of those ecology crashes caused by wholly natural animal populations or geological events.

That's the problem with attempting to apply coordinates from a fictional world with obviously different geology to the real world. Seriously, the coastline and other locations shown for the Rhode Island of Paragon City's Earth do not conform to the Rhode Island of our universe, so attempting to apply coordinates for that universe to ours is non sequitur at best.

It passes and I don't see any acknowledgement of it, so I figure it's just been lost in the broadcast spam. I continue playing, eventually joining a team with a few of my friends. I'm just about to log off for the night, when one of them pipes up with, "How did you get that title?"

Now, I don't play with my personal player name up, so I hadn't the first clue what she was talking about. I pull it up to see this:

So, of course, I tell the story and everyone breaks out laughing.

Good one, Zwill. You got me.
i ROFLed and now i need a shower.

(Technically i needed a shower long before reading this. Wearing tyvek coveralls for four hours while painting sculptures does that.)
  21. i have to concede that i have an unfair advantage when it comes to downtime: i always have far more things i could be doing than i have time. And that's just the stuff i enjoy doing, never mind things that need to be done at some point whether or not i want to do them. Usually i can juggle it so that i effectively have two or more things going on at once, but there's always more options.

So it's possible i might have difficulty fully empathizing with people who have nothing fun they can do if servers go down. i sorry.

    2) Located in New Jersey. Being in/from New Jersey means you are the the pinnacle of humanity and human potential. The various shows set in that state in the past decade alone should have made this obvious already. (i was born there, so i know from experience.)

It won't kick you from the TF but if you're the leader you can accidentally spawn the next mission redside).

What you don't have are any contacts heroside, or access to a hero SG base, or access to the hero version of Ouroboros. That's only for Heroes and Vigilantes (who are still heroes).

If you want to stay heroside, gather up tips and run tip missions there. Your only option on these tip missions will be the hero option, and actually a lot of the missions are tailored for rogues turning hero specifically. A rogue can turn hero by running tips heroside, or turn villain again by running tips villainside, just like a vigilante can turn villain by running tips villainside (where their only option is the villain one) or turn hero again by running hero tips heroside.

The big wheel of life is Villain --> Rogue --> Hero --> Vigilante --> Villain again.

The big advantage for rogues and vigilantes is being able to team anywhere. This is balanced by some of the things only true heroes and true villains can do, such as earn and use alignment merits.
That pretty much covers it. Very nicely put.
