Quote:Every subscription-based MMO i've seen so far does this. The box code/account upgrade code requires you to provide billing info or a time card code as well before you can activate it.Part of it is because the system was set up for when all of NCSoft's games were not Free to Play - and had boxes in the stores. It is (in part) an anti-theft thing.
Also they hope you forget to cancel if you don't like it so they can keep you subbed but all the businesses do that. -
This has been an incredibly entertaining thread, with posts that are thoughtful and/or informative and/or amusing.
But, rather than speak to that i'm going to indulge my inner pedant...
Quote:Doesn't that mean that they would outperform either one by the smallest measurable increment? A single quantum of quality?I believe that a good engineer with no knowledge of gaming would make a far better mechanical infrastructure than a good game designer with no knowledge of engineering. Someone that is good at both will outperform either by a quantum leap of quality.
Anyway, i would enjoy seeing more non combat minigames in CoH. However, i'm not sure they would really fit the overall style and genre. -
Quote:Looking great!Hey Guys,
Just wanted to update you with the latest Retro SciFi goodiness!
Also, it's quite apparent that spacesuit wearers are not Statesman. -
Quote:Short answer: No.Figured this was a question worth asking/discussing. I think its a thing that is pretty much wanted across the board, but it's becoming painfully obvious at this point that if it's not something that can't be gated behind being a VIP or cost PPs, and isn't a game balance issue, it's not going to get dev time at this point.
I guess personally, it'd depend on the price. I was pretty annoyed with the fact the Super Tailor came bundled in an add-on pack purchase, and even with the Freedom Launch, think it's still overpriced and have not purchased it yet. So the question is, would you pay? And if so, how much is the cut off point?
I'd be annoyed if pool customization came with a price tag attached, but Id honestly cough up points for it, as it's something more useful in the long run than the super tailor. My concern is it would probably wind up being segmented out into smaller portions with a bulk discount. I'd honestly probably pay 10 dollars/800 points max as a "day one purchase".
Opinions or thoughts?
Longer answer: While i really want additional customization options for pool powers i would not pay anything above my subscription for the ability. Furthermore i think this should be added with the same restrictions as primary and secondary customization, that is to say none at all. -
Quote:Nice. i'm glad you're liking the new DA content. i haven't run it yet since i'm just starting to play some of my 50s somewhat regularly again after several months of tinkering with lowbies. i am seriously considering running a couple of my barely Incarnated 50s through DA for the story and general fun of it. Maybe even select one to focus on going from Alpha unlocked to +3. Probably take quite some time due to how often i shift character focus.I was at +1 through Shards, though apparently had Interface and Judgement unlocked by converting to Threads and then to XP. I got my two level shifts in Dark Astoria content.
First i have a couple iTrial master badges to finish getting so that i can get my iBadging Defender back up to date. -
In the past you repeatedly made assertions about the progress rate that were either lies or a willful misunderstanding of what others had posted. i say willful because the people who you claimed were the proof of your assertions repeatedly told you that you were wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, vat of toxic wrong wrong.
But that's all glossed over, denied, distorted, and ignored water under the bridge at this point. -
Quote:Or most of his progress happened before the release. It's not like he claimed the character was newly 50 when i22 was released. It might have been, but that was never stated.Okay. Let me get this right...
You never ran an itrial.
You just got your last level shift today, which is a week after the new Dark Astoria and solo path was released.
And you start the thread of with...
"First of all, the Incarnate Thread rate-of-income in Dark Astoria is garbage. It really is; takes forever."
So either you're really bad at showing sarcasm over message threads, or you're idea of takes forever is skewed.
So it's quite possible he was already at +2 before i22... -
If he still aggroes mobs he may be worth it. Herding leprechaun for the win!

Flailing about somewhere else for a bit with laser swords and getting annoyed with the control scheme and standard settings. Then i tried to log onto CoH as a refreshing change of pace and noticed something was amiss.
-
i finally got around to trying out a thing with laser swords far, far away and after a while being unable to ascend slightly steepish slopes, largish rock piles or low piles of rubble combined with some annoying control quirks gave me a mild headache. So i figured i'd relax with some CoH Freedom to go anywhere the $#@^ i want. Apparently anywhere except the servers that is. i is now sad.

Quote:i mostly stopped doing it about five years ago. Occasionally in beta i still /bug textual errors, but i can't recall ever seeing a text error that i reported corrected before or after going live. This doesn't mean none have ever been changed, it may be that i didn't notice the ones that are fixed, but there are some still around that i'm pretty sure i reported over seven years ago.Oh please, do people even submit spelling mistakes bug reports anymore?

Anyway, i'm off to go heroically scatter a Nemesis bomb threat across the city. Again. -
Quote:Nothing was changed recently, but you neglected the possibility that your assumptions are incomplete and/or wrong.I know this thread is way old but I gotta add something... and I fkd up this quote so it's gonna be ugly...but i'm kinda drunk and lazxy.
"You mean Large Inspirations, Single Origin Enhancements, and Archetype Enhancements are all nothing?"
Unless something was changed recentgly ATOs were vip onboly as for trading merits for. Er you had to be vip to trades ATOs for mertits...other way arouynd. You get. it. -
Well, that and any Rogues on the team being unable to access the echo without a mission teleporter...
-
Wait, Reichsman's troops have access to the Well? Where did this happen? i'm guessing it's in the Reichsman Spanking TF/SF and i somehow missed it, but really it was wasted on his troops since it didn't make them any tougher than normal troops.

Quote:You do realize that there are a number of players who record and analyze the statistics for virtually everything that is visible to the players, right? If you really have noticed a decrease in drop rates you should post your complete data in a more visible part of the forums for discussion and comparison. Its seems to me that the drop rate on everything but temp powers has been lowered once again. I have looked at the math over and over. The numbers dont lie. It kinda has me confused. Why would they lower them yet again?
At the very least you should post your full data on drops here for reference. What you've already posted isn't complete enough to be of any use at all in actual statistical analysis. -
Quote:i have never seen rested XP mentioned anywhere as being tied to the rewards system in any fashion. i think it's considered part of the basic gameplay, much like debt, XP, and contacts. So, I played some CoX for the first time in a few months, now as a premium, and I noticed that I'm gaining Rest XP when logged off. That really shocked me, as I figured that was a VIP only perk.
Is that working as intended?
I also wondered if that is something unlocked for purchase time, such as controllers... -

Quote:3a. the hack breaks/renders inaccessible some game content for some playersI assume the planning is:
1. we need a fix for the Numina TF for DA
2. well Numina is going to be rewritten sometime in a year starting in 2, so we don't want to do throwaway work now
3. do a quick and easy hack
4. Profit! -

Fiame is like that. What they mean is that they have no idea how it's done, therefore it's impossible.
