Cant find Free -> VIP Serial Code

Hi,

I purchased a VIP upgrade for CoH: Freedom for my girlfriend recently (right after mine). We can't find the serial code she was supposed to be sent since it was purchased from the website itself, not in-game.

We both checked her account and it tells us she has 1 unused serial code. We checked that and this is what we see:

Notice how it says the VIP Kit was purchased on Mar 17 yet its Mar 16.

She wasn't sent any serial code through e-mail, nor was I and the purchase does show up on my card.

We did that, but it asks for my credit card information all over again, and asks me which payment method i wanna do, recurring plan, etc.

Yes, that's just what it does, although it doesn't explain it as clearly as it could. It requires you to set up a subscription, but it won't bill you for it until the free month from the starter kit ends. You can cancel the subscription immediately after setting it up, if you like.

So basically, I have to re-enter all my card information again before I even get the serial code to show?

When you select the radio button for the starter kit and Continue, it's not asking for credit card info to show you the serial code so you can go back to the first screen and type it in. It's just applying the code directly to your account. Using the code requires you to set up a subscription, which means it requires your credit card, but it will not bill your card until the end of the 30 days that come with the starter kit.

That worked. That's a lot of hassle for something though. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Yeah, it's not presented in a very intuitive way. Glad you were able to get it to work.

For future reference I'm pretty sure all online purchases with NC work that way. They give you a "serial code" but you never see it, it just appears as an item add-able to your account on the webpage.

(That way you can't use your CC to buy an item....like a VIP Sub, and then pass the serial to your friend instead of putting it on your own account.)

10 50's To Date! Check out Titan Sentinel; it got my CoH presence synced online

Part of it is because the system was set up for when all of NCSoft's games were not Free to Play - and had boxes in the stores. It is (in part) an anti-theft thing.

Also they hope you forget to cancel if you don't like it so they can keep you subbed but all the businesses do that.

Orc&Pie No.53230 There is an orc, and somehow, he got a pie. And you are hungry.

Yes and no. They do email the whole code to you, after you apply it. This is for validation purposes in case you lose contrl of your account and need to contact support to regain control. They ask for First CD Key, and first payment method and method number (So, inyour case, you might want to note your card type (Visa, Amex, etc) and the last four digits somewhere in case you change card numbers.)

Every subscription-based MMO i've seen so far does this. The box code/account upgrade code requires you to provide billing info or a time card code as well before you can activate it.
