Quote:With the exception of Neuronia most of the previous posters ranged from utterly pointless to trite and self-centered. To be honest i'm not sure how they necessarily are PvP posts other than some asking about the return of base raids. Which is something i'd like to see return as well. The old base raids i participated in were some of the most PvP fun i've ever had.....I looked at the respones also, sounds like alot of ppl really want raids back...An umm I don't get it wants the "other" reason nobody likes PvP??
That said, i'm really looking forward to the Cathedral of Pain trial. i was only able to try the original version once, but i have a hunch the new one will be even more interesting.
Edit: i guess the 'quality' of the replies and it being in the PvP section are what make them PvP responses to some. Honestly i have no idea why G_F posted it here, since the CoP was only related to PvP incidentally, and that connection has been removed in the new version anyway. -
i just posted in a birthday thread. Obviously i'm wishing the celebrant a happy (belated) birthday, neh?

i've always used Radiation Emission as my stand-in set for probability control. The two debuff toggles are easily conceived as probability manipulation. Radiation Infection actually does increase the chances of you hitting affected enemies and decreases their chances of hitting you. Enervating Field can imagined as causing enemies to fail to get in solid hits and causing allies to hit weak points. At least that's how i conceptualized it for my Rad/Dark Defender.
Still, a probability manipulation set (or three) would be interesting. The biggest difficulty is keeping it balanced and distinctive from already existing sets. -
Quote:Wait. How do you know if you've missed something if you don't know about it?Actually this would be the first time I have missed something in the game on the forums in years. So, hey, I can deal with a 99% accuracy rating.
i certainly don't know everything about what i don't know. i know there are many, many things that i don't know, and i even know the general nature of some of those things, but one of the things i do know is that i cannot know the nature of all the things i don't know. You know? -
Quote:i don't understand. Is this some sort of "moral" hypothesis?Sorry for the pyramid, I wanted to include the entire train of thought.
I'm of the opinion that the obvious hole in the market allowing inf storage needs to be blocked up and a way to a prevent item trading via e-mail from turning into a per player storage system. Yes I know I'm a minority in this opinion, hence the "torches and pitchforks" comment.
The easiest fix to the e-mail system is to reduce the number of self to self global e-mails to 1 of 1 item. This would force people to pick up their mail. Annoying if you are transferring a lot but hey, it's better than nothing.
The closing of the 2 billion inf per imaginary item loop hole, coupled with the 2 billion limit per character, would flush hopefully a lot of inf away. Right now it's ridiculous how pricey the "good stuff" has gotten over the years and without a suitable inf sink the money supply has gotten way out of control.
Now if the devs really want to give us a nearly unlimited character bank of 9E18 inf (63-bits from the current 31-bits) fine but "exploiting" a loophole in another system isn't the way it should be done and players shouldn't expect it to last forever. Same is true with a player bank/storage system. Do it for real or come up with a way so the e-mail system, which was meant for trading items and inf and not storing them, can't be abused.
Restricting email to one item at a time would do nothing to restrict hoarding, but it would greatly reduce convenience.
Do you feel that it's immoral for players to do things easily, that it should be work, a significant time sink to store and transfer items between alts on an account? After all, it's not like there's any precedent in any game ever for a player being able to access items across an account.
The one item limit would be even more brilliant for those of us who like to help other players out. If i decide to email a new player the recipe and salvage for some costume item they saw in game and asked about here it should be a slow and laborious process that require that they be logged on at the same time, right?
i don't understand where this idea that being able to easily access resources across your account is somehow wrong or unintended by the Devs. Can you at least provide a link to a Dev post that states this? i don't catch every single interview and post made by the Devs and i obviously missed this one. -
As i recall it generates an aura around your character that buffs any of your pets within its radius.
Edit: For example, the wiki says that the defense IO from Edict of the Master: "Grants you a 40' radius aura which increases your henchmen's defense by 5%." -
i remember when my Scrapper was the Tsoo defeat champion for most of a day according to the Terminals. Since i was street hunting them constantly that day i had convinced myself it was working properly. Apparently not.

Durakken is being Durakken.
Your ordinary human CoH canon, logic, and plausibility has no place here.
Ignore all that is already well established if it doesn't match whatever whim enters your head.
If you haven't read it or understood it then matters even less.
Now go forth and think in Durakken fashion!
i'll go get the aspirin ready. -
Quote:People like the OP are why i think we could use a /nerdragequit command added to CoH that drops you to desktop and uninstalls the game when used.I always laugh at these divas who think they are entitled to anything. I play the game and I rarely get purple drops, yet I still play the game. If you don't like the game then why are you here? Do you really think anyone cares that you threaten to leave the game? You know what I think? I think you're just trying to manipulate the devs into increasing the drop rate so it benefits only you. You don't give a **** about anyone else. Just like we don't give a **** about you.
/nerdragequitdiva could add a popup to the uninstaller that says, "You are a unique and precious snowflake, and we are so, so sorry that we have failed you. The entire staff here deeply regrets that we could not give you everything you wanted the instant you wanted it. You were the whole reason we made this game. Paragon Studios and NCsoft will now spend three days mourning your departure." -
Quote:je saist is talking about enemy abilities, not any changes to player powers, but i suppose that sort of (not by most standards) subtle distinction was lost. Against enemies that ignore defense and/or resistance (Hamidon just as a random example) greater hp can be a significant aid to survival. Or let's pretend that Tankers tend to have greater resistance to debuffs than Scrappers or Brutes. (Unlikely, i know, but let's pretend.) In that case if the enemy in question only has moderate damage output, but has strong debuffs/can bypass defense, then the Tanker fares far better. Silly, but in that hypothetical situation Tankers are better. Once again, we're not talking about changes to player powers, only to enemy abilities.I was speaking about what is, not speculating on the next round of oopsies to hit powers. Just to address the gist of your speculation, anything that hurts defense is going to be problematic for both tanks and scrappers. If it pierces a scrappers soft cap, its going to make a shield tank or an invulnerable tank upset as well. You now have a toon that isn't surviveable and can't do damage.

Quote:Wow. The sheer level of self-importance in this post is almost mind-numbing. (For me. i'm pretty sure the OP is frozen solid.)What do I need to do in order to get my rare recipe drop rate back to normal. or can a Dev tell me what things that i do in game that will alert Developers to decrease my recipe drop rate. As a 46 veteran, i've done every single mission endlessly numerous times, now i just farm BM and play PVP for those rare and purple recipes to gain influe cena and slot my toons good.
I've compared (rare/purple recipe) drop rates with other friends that do the exact same thing as me and its like a 1/5 ratio. If they were not manipulated as developers say, everyone's drop rate should be around the same. There are many things in game a player can do to try to get those rare/purple recipe drops, but when your drop rate is manipulated it is a waste of time even to play the game.
About drop rate manipulatioin: i've heard so many times from GMs that recipe drop rate is not something developers have control over, well that is untrue and i can prove it.
About six months ago, i got very frustrated after running BM solo numerous times and not getting a single purple drop or rare. Moreover, other friends doing the same had much better luck than me. As a result, frustrated with the game and my horrendous drop rate, I decided to deactivate my account and the reason i left at the end of the questionarie was "i am a pvper, i need influece to slot my toons, i am a 35+ veteran and have done every single mission, without influce i cannot slot my toon and do pvp. since i cannot slot toons due to lack of influence i don't have fun anymore, so i quit"
At that time i still had a few more days before my subscription expired, so the next day i decided to run a few more Battle Maiden runs and out of the blue, ON MY FIRST RUN I GET 4 CONSECUTIVE PURPLE DROPS. then, i concluded how much control developers have over people's accounts and most importantly drop rates....
Does it mean that new players have higher drop rates just to keep them excited about the game and forget about the OLD veterans?
I need to know what contributes these rates, or do i need to create a new account and stop playing my two veteran ones i currently use?
And please, dont come telling me Developers do not have control over drop rates because i will just ignore it and move on to another game...
Campesino-Commander of Raven Shield SG ranking 5, Freedom.
i... uh... i really can't believe this... person... really thinks that they are so important that the Devs/GM's/Mods/Magical RNG Gnomes would alter drop rates just for them.
Really? You think Paragon Studios/NCsoft care enough about you to alter drops just for you? REALLY?
Yeah... No. -

Quote:You have to queue for going to bed?EDIT:MEANT TO PUT THIS IN THE VIRTUE SERVER FORUM. Think that's my que for bed.
i think that's your cue to find a less crowded place to live.
Cheers and sleep well. Also, don't forget to post the bio in the Virtue forums as well. -

There's a new(ish) global channel for finding villain teams on Champion: BMT Redside. Are you on the other server channels? [Champion United and BMT of Champion] They're especially useful for redside teaming since the population tends to be quite low.

i have two linked hypotheses for this:
1) People are dumb.
2) Stupidity about certain things tends to come and go in cycles. -
"No, really?!" "Really." "*huh* I always thought she was really a man." "*shhh* Seer approaching. Think about coffee."

Quote:To me it looks like he's got a cybernetic arm and his fist is being held at chest/bicep level directly in line with the rest of the arm, which makes it look like it's missing.Fairly certain "Noble Savage" is Wretch... or something like him. He looks like he's missing his right arm from the bicep down...

Quote:Noble Savage looks awesome
Only fitting to have the art lead with an amazing looking charecterfor those of you whole missed it, screenie here
Also did i spot new pistols with new fx just after this part? 2:35 onwards looks like laser pistols *prays for unlockables*
Even if it's the character David originally played, that's definitely a custom costume with several pieces not available to players or even currently in the game. My guess is that it might be the Praetorian version of Wretch and David's new in-game signature character. -

Wings do not use the cape systems. As far as i know only capes, trenchcoats, wedding tuxedo jackets, and the witch bolero use the cape system. Wings and animated tails use an animation rig more like what arms and legs use.

They make a spray for that.
Most of the time Toxic Tarantulas get in by teleport. If the building is in an area which blocks the teleport system the rest of its squad pulls the quick disconnect pins and carries it in sections through the door, reassembling it inside. These missions are a sort of punishment detail for the rest of the Toxic Tarantula's squad. -
Quote:That would be interesting considering that WoW was released some time after CoH.I think it originated in the WoW boards, where everyone would instantly rush to leap on the devs posts. They've gotten to the point where they're claiming "First page"
Incidentally, not having read the WoW forums, do the WoW mods and devs have their names in red on the forums?
Quote:I know what slashdot is and I know what the slashdot effect is, but I learned about that from TechTV. I'd imagine that percentage of people who have ever heard the words slash and dot put together verbally is rather low.
Where as Microsoft has been dumping millions and millions of dollars into ad campains for the past 15 years trying to convince people that Microsoft=home computing.
Actually it was Ratfink. -
Quote:Sew buttons. Red buttons.I hate to break it to you, but over the span of 3 years I was with the City Scoop, my post count skyrocketed. Why? Because I was posting (and reposting) articles, puzzles, and layout for the Scoop before the Admins posted them for everyone to see. While I was Editor in Chief I often had to respond to other user's questions about the Scoop. I was not the only one involved with the Scoop who watched their post-count rise quickly. The other reason my post count is high is that I've been posting for the last 5 years. I've been an active member of the community. I make an average of 8.29 posts per day (sometimes more, sometimes less). You make an average of 1.2 posts per day. So what?
Also, i wish the Scoop would return, but not enough to undertake the project myself. The Scoop had some great material.
(i continue to approach this thread with all the thought and gravitas it deserves.)
