Oh, i know. i was at the last one, and i have a 49 Tanker i will be bringing to the next. The fact remains that a team of all Tankers (or even Scrappers) cannot come close to the speed of a team with Buff/Debuff capabilities well represented. An all Defender team easily outpaces an all Tanker team.

Quote:Give me a team with 4 moderately skilled level 8+ VEAT players and you can keep your tank and heals. Hell, give me 4 or more Defenders and Controllers with no heals who know how to play and we'll bring the tank along just so we don't have to lug the cooler. He can stay in the back and make sure the potato salad is fresh.I don't even know what game you are playing. If I run into a full team spawn on a mid 20s tanker without good buffs, the alpha alone is going to drop me way below half health (depending on which defense set). To hold agro on that whole group on my own and not die in 2 more seconds I need to be healed by at least one person. If it's a +2 or +3 mission, the alpha will kill me and healing probably wont help unless it's timed perfectly. I'd need appropriate buffs to handle that situation smoothly.
I never said healing was required in every group. I just used a particular example. A team with multiple tanks and good controls that work together can do fine without a healer. A team with a single tank and no control is going to need appropriate buffs or awesome heals though.
(Just joking, sort of. Any combination ATs or powersets is welcome if the playesr know how to use them, but a team of mostly tankers does tend to be a bit slower paced. Heals can be a (borderline) useful stop-gap if buffs and debuffs aren't readily available.) -
Quote:Well, yes. That occurred to me as well. Actually i was thinking of the similar saying: "Tragedy is when it happens to me. Comedy is when it happens to you." Regardless it was not intended as a serious assertion. And i knew full well in advance that the irony (literary irony, not that watered down pop culture stuff) was likely to be missed since that is the nature of ironic statements. If the irony is obvious to everyone it's not really irony. It's a little more complicated than that.

Quote:Well, if someone canceled their subscription to the game because of a change in forums policies then i suspect they were one of the rare people who only subscribes for the forum pvp. Which seems a bit excessive to me, but then the forums could vanish entirely tomorrow and i'd still continue playing the game. Posting in other forums, of course, but i'd still be playing. It doesn't matter how long I wait--the people that quit the game over the forum changes are unlikely to come back. That's not funny, and it never will be.
i guess i'm strange like that. -
You obviously never played with the Pingus. Even back during "the older way of playing" we would push difficulties as far as we could. Individual team members fell frequently, teams wiped rarely, but having no debt badges was considered a sign that you weren't trying hard enough. If you thought there was a chance you could pull something off it was encouraged that you try. Debt meant little compared to succeeding at something completely insane.
The thing is that half the team could drop and the rest would still keep pressing forward as they got back up and into the fray; the occasional team wipe acting as a rough guide to how far things could be pushed with that team composition. Of course that only set the line to immediately be pushed past. How far and how fast you could go was far more important than worries about debt. Team wipes are bad since they slow you down. Individual teammates falling, on the other hand, means you can use Fallout, Vengeance, Rise of the Phoenix, etecetera. -

Quote:For over six years i have not capitalized the personal pronoun on these forums when referring to myself, and i'm not about to give up that affectation now.
However, when quoting others i do in fact use proper capitalization. i make absolutely no apologies for this idiosyncrasy. -

He explicitly said he did not. Total reading comprehension fail on your part despite the fact he went out of his way to explicitly state it. With that level of fail i suspect you didn't even read the post beyond skimming it before reinventing it in your head into something completely different. Quoting it when your reply makes it obvious you didn't read it is a rather absurd move.
i think i've been seeing "the latest issue sucks, i'm quitting" posts from you for over three years now. Which is fine and dandy if it makes you feel good, but saying you're taking a break would be more believable at this point. Announcing that you're quitting for the nth time (where n>5) won't get you taken seriously.* Instead it inspires a severe lack of credibility.
*i've known people who quit smoking at least a few dozen times. Eventually i started complimenting them on how much better their quitting skills were. They've quit dozens of times, but i only managed to quit smoking once. -
Quote:i'm guessing it's not this song. Although i'd suggest it if the (speculative) TF is tied to The Coming Storm. If WW and/or Apex finally got their own TF, I call dibs on making the teaser trailer to get people stoked for it. I've even got the music.

The tentacles are to hold the weaker foes in place so you can continue beating the hell out of them.

Quote:Eh, i prefer to think of it as being somewhere around Louisiana or Florida. Or possibly the general vicinity of where DC was. This is what I think too. And the change in geography can be explained by the Hamidon Wars. In some of the Paragon City zones we can see how the Devouring Earth have impacted the land, so I wouldn't be surprised if the landmasses of the world have been drastically changed on Praetorian Earth.

Quote:The aggro on you through Hide is intended, but i still think there's something out of whack with the ambush spawning mechanics. Sometimes it gets hilariously over the top. Especially if you have a character with no AoE capability.Well, I had to wonder. The first one was a bit of a suprise. I was doing a mission, had to steal something from Wyvern. Grabbed the item and was just planning my clearing of the room when I heard the ambush dialog. In rushes 4 Longbow. I jump back to avoid being exposed, and in rushes a second ambush, 4 Wyvern. Then 4 more Longbow, then 4 more Wyvern. Then 4 more, Longbow and then 4 more Wyvern. Now, if I had stayed around to fight them, that would be 24-1 odds. Luckily, they didn't get along, and as I withdrew to a safer distance, they all started fighting each other. They even cleared the room for me. Kind of nice.
However, when this sort of thing happened in the next mission, and the next, I started to wonder. -
Quote:i know the distinction isn't that widely known, but it is a long-standing one, which is why i thought it was worth mentioning just to make things clear. Using "begs the question" where "raises the question" is more correct has also become more common in the last several years. Saying that someone is begging the question can be offensive if they're aware of the difference.Interesting - I didn't know about that - to me, it's always been
synonomous with "if the premise were true, it {raises the question - x
or leads me to question - x}" which is what I intended to mean by "begs
the question".

Yeah, and i'm also working on my admission thesis for the League of Pedants. -
Quote:There a number of blueside factions where possessing anti-Kheldian weaponry doesn't make much sense. In the cases where there is no "Quantum Blah" to spawn the game adds a Void Seeker/Void Hunter/Void Stalker/Shadow Cyst to the group.Sorry, but you really can't tell people you aren't worried about them when you indeed, said, you don't want to have to worry about them.
THAT being said, Quant's basically "hide" in with factions when khelds are included, so yes, they'll be red side.
Don't worry, though
i've seen this in the Rogue Isles as well with the zone spawns as recently as yesterday. Void Seekers milling about with Scrapyarders and Mooks. Few things look as out of place as a Void Seeker chilling with a bunch of guys in flannel and jeans. -
If you open the combat attributes window and set it to monitor stealth radius you can see what your current radius is. If it's blue you're already at the hard cap.
I always monitor the radius on stealthy alts so that i can tell when suppression ends. My illusion controllers are always at the hard cap when running Superior Invisibility. -
Quote:Based on my own personal experiences and the testimonials in the rest of this thread i humbly submit that the fault may not lie entirely with the new sets.So I roll up a kin/elec stalker. What do I find out? That Concentrated Strike doesn't automatically work out of hide. Going to have to delete my stalker now.
So I roll up an elec/elec dom. What do I find out? That domination doesn't work with the sleep, knockdown, and confuse powers. Going to have to delete my dom now. -

Quote:Actually, begging the question is a type of logical fallacy. <.< i suspect you meant that it raises a question.First off, it wasn't a complaint, it was a question, soliciting opinion and
discussion. You can tell by the "?" syntax, and the fact that I said "it
begs the question"...
The ambushes, whether by grammar fascists or not, are the only difficulty increase of any significance that i've noticed. Praetorian enemies are more difficult than average to lower difficulty factions, but not more difficult than all other groups in the same level ranges. -
Quote:All things i tend to look for in the early levels anyway. Well, except for Vahz, they don't carry much that i want in their pockets. Oh and Arachnos are good too.Difficulty hasn't been raised.
Enemies in Praetoria may be harder than Hellions and Skulls, but they pale in comparisson to end-draining Clockwork in the pre-stamina levels, rech-flooring Vahzilok with toxic damage, chain-mezzing CoT mages before anyone has mez protection, tohit-debuffing Spectral Daemon Lords pre-SO's, and other hazardous mobs already present in Paragon City
My only complaints about recent greater difficulty is with regards to (hopefully not WAI) buggy ambush mechanics.
