i'm currently working on a KM/DA Scrapper. KM's stuns aren't quite as consistent as MA's, but they still hit often enough that they will stack pretty well with OG on bosses. And of course the ability to boost Death Shroud's damage is nice.

Quote:i have maybe two frequently played characters with Hasten. Oddly enough the rest do just fine without it. Especially the 50s with lots of IO sets.because hasten is too good. its basically a must have skill on every build, so why waste and another skill to get fly when you can get SS
i'd say at least half of my 40+ alts have some form of flight. Hover on the great majority of them, and couple with just Fly. -
Quote:i still consider the changes to MoG a buff. It even thematically suits the set now instead of turning you from a character who heals really quickly to a character with capped defense against most damage types who can't heal at all and takes quadruple damage from psi attacks with no defense against psi at all. (Technically it took you to 1/4 hp and gave you 75% damage resistance against all damage but psi and special damage types.)We don't want the Dev's attention back on /Regen.
Trust me.
Everytime they look at the set it gets nerfed, not buffed.
Its somewhat of a meme around here.
That said, Regen is a lot more reactive than WP. With Willpower you can turn on your togs and go to town without micro-management.
With Regen you've gotta constantly pay attention to spikes and DP to drop, etc etc.
My Regen scrapper feels far superior to my WP Brute. This could just be my perception though. I just find that WP can get quite boring when I'm just click, click, clicking attacks without fear.
At least with Regen I have to be 'in the zone' to do that.
I like being challenged.
New(er) MoG is much better overall IMO. -
Quote:Well, the original mission to rescue him predates CoV, and he spawned as a (i think) 53 then. IIRC it was the source of some amusement from my teammates since at the time we hadn't seen any enemies spawning above 50. Still, he did occasionally get used at events, and i recall seeing him on Guardian ~5 years ago, but i think he was one of the more common (back then) Dev character setups where they took whatever powers they felt like using when making the character and then used the signature character model.Perhaps Statesman the original may have been used by the devs... but then, when City of Villains was in final day of beta or something, I heard the new versions of the Phalanx, including Statesman with Zeus' Lightning was used (and controlled) by the devs to fight the heroes.

Quote:Actually, my "dressier" steel-toed boots are one of my more comfortable pairs of boots. They sort of look and feel like hiking shoes to the point that you can't tell they're steel-toed unless you press down on them. The other steel-toed pair is used for work and are charred, scraped, scuffed and tinted about six different colors, so not as good for a night out.Jeans (your nicest pair) and a button down or henley with your boots should be ok. Though for your own comfort i would not wear the steel toed boots.
To be honest i usually just wear what i feel like wearing to events as long as it suits the mood of the event even if it's not traditional formal wear. i do have some tuxedo jackets with tails, although the best fitting one has punk, psychobilly and grindcore patches sewn onto it and a bunch of buttons and ephemera on the lapels. Then again the most formal events i usually attend are gallery openings, concerts and plays, which presumably have more relaxed standards than hotel clubs. -
Actually, barring writer's powers to adjust building positions, heights and attachment points, no it doesn't.
As for the fancy later event... i don't own dress shoes or even regular sneakers. Although i do have many pairs of boots with varying amounts of eyelets, zippers, steel toes and straps. And a pair of sandals. Barring steel toes my pants situation is similar. Along with multiple pairs of jeans and no slacks that aren't slightly charred or paint-stained. Outside of Henley/t-shirts i do have some clergy shirts and a few button down shirts in addition to the scaled and shiny shirts. My jackets tend to have patches, plates, bolts, assorted other hardware and painting on them.
Eh, i'll think of something. -
Quote:Yeah, the original mission design with Statesman as nigh-untouchable ubergod once you freed him was a bit silly, and definitely smacked of godmodding/Mary Sueitus. (Also, considering it was the only place in the game he appeared in at the time, it seemed a bit silly to give him powers he'd never have a reason to use.) It used to be fun watching him attack the lava after he was released, though.Zeus' Lightning is a PBAoE, if I remember, covering a largish radius. States also has Hammer of Justice which is the punch the ground one causing damage and knockback, Footstomp (as standard), and Handclap (which does knockback AND damage, the cheating blighter).
The original Archvillain level 54 Statesman seen in the original Maria's arc only has Footstomp and Handclap, but also has Thunderous Blast (from Electrical Blast powerset, to tie in the Zeus roots). Problem is, Statesman as a level 54 AV entity in that mission has nothing to face which would reduce his health enough to use it, so you'll never see it in action.
Also, are you a space runaway? -
Quote:Well, i've installed Openoffice, Steam/Left 4 Dead and City of Heroes into the C:\Program Files (x86) folder. i'll try putting Mids' on the E: drive and tinkering with permissions now.You said this was a new system, right? Have you installed other things to the C:\Program Files (x86) folder without issue? Do you have other Titan software installed? It sounds like a permission error; when I first installed Win7, I copied over my Program Files folder and found I had trouble installing things on it, period, because I didn't have permission - specifically, I didn't have Ownership. So I had to follow these instructions in order to get it working.
Alternately, you should try installing it to another folder or even another drive (d:/Mids, without the Program Files). We don't have to keep it there for good, but this will help us narrow down the culprit.
Edit: Okay, installing to the E: drive worked. Looks like i may need to claim my (x86) folder.i wonder what is different about the other programs that i installed there that i had no issues previously?
Edit 2: Taking ownership allowed installation in C:\Program Files (x86)\ to proceed normally. -
Ugh. By not being a regular reader of Superman comics or the more mainline DC titles in general i managed to never see this before or even know about Godfall. Was it as awful as Superman at World's End, or whatever the horrible graphic novel that featured a shaggy future Superman firing some sort of amalgam of an engine block and Gatling guns was called? Not that it was the worst part of it by any means, but the Gatling engine was the most memorable visual for me.

Quote:Yeah, proc damage and most other proc effects on enemies do notify them.This. If you put a proc in a power that normally doesn't cause aggro the proc will still aggro enemies when it goes off.
Slotting enemy-affecting procs into a power that normally doesn't aggro will trigger aggro when the proc goes off. -
Quote:World of Confusion's damage does not notify enemies, so it does not cause aggro. As far as I know, there's no such thing as damage that doesn't make enemies notice you.
If you're very patient you can stand next to -20 enemies and it will eventually defeat them without any reaction from them.
Any less than a 20 level difference and you'll need a lot of patience to watch it happen. -
Quote:Manually created directory and it still won't install. This is the first time i've ever had any issues with Mids'.I am personally running Windows 7 64-bit, so we can rule that out as a reason. It sounds like some kind of permission issue, even though Windows 7 doesn't normally need you to be in Administrator mode to run it (unlike Vista). To which directory are you choosing to install it to? Perhaps you should manually create the target directory (drive:\Program Files (x86)\Titan Network\Mids, or wherever you choose).
From the installer window:
Checking your .NET Framework version...
MSI3.1 or better detected.
MSI3.1 installation done. Proceeding with remainder of installation.
.NET Framework Version found: 2.0.50727, equal or newer to required version: 2.0.
Proceeding with remainder of installation.
Output folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\TitanNetwork\MidsHeroDesigner
Can't write: C:\Program Files (x86)\TitanNetwork\MidsHeroDesigner
Apparently i'm at an impasse. -

i keep getting an "Error opening file for writing" message when i run the installer and get to the stage where it's supposed to writing the files to the directory. i recently upgraded to 64bit Windows 7. Is there something i'm overlooking?

*heh* i love how the posts i see by you tend to alternate between asking fairly basic questions about the game's workings and stating (frequently incomplete or inaccurate) opinions and assumptions as facts. It's sort of charming even if it occasionally gets annoying because then someone who know what they're talking about has to set the record straight.

Quote:Agreed. Fluffy is my "turn the enemies into mewling sacks of hitpoints" pet. So far my favorite slotting option is to load him up with Cloud Senses.Let's put it this way: what power would you replace it with? Because I can't imagine what else might be so much better than a pet that heals, holds, debuffs to-hit, and even draws aggro.
Fluffy is an awesome pet, just because it doesn't do damage that doesn't make it worthless. And it's a hell of a lot more predictable than most Mastermind primary pets, anyway. -
Quote:Uh, smeg(head) did not originate in that series, and that's definitely not where i first heard the term, but it's actually an abbreviated form of smegma. So it actually should be seen as "dirtier" than many filtered terms.to the OP, in a purely RP atmosphere, this is a great way to work it in a non offensive manner ...
Smeg(head) : made famous on the Red Dwarf series
While i may find American rules regarding vulgarity silly and illogical i do know the rules and can accommodate them regardless of how sensible i consider them.
Honestly, if i really want to tell someone off i'm more likely to use extremely detailed terminology that contains no individually vulgar words by American standards. -

It means he's helping recruit for Paragon Studios. The fact that he's been active on the forums on every single day i've ever looked at his profile (which is at least twice in the last month) implies to me that he's still quite busy with whatever his current Paragon Studios project happens to be. Now, since i find je_saist's theory about what makes i20 so major fairly plausible, i wouldn't be surprised if he's insanely busy, and completely unable to post about what he's currently working on in the public forums. Or maybe he's been exiled to the Amazonian rain forest offices to work on animating the upcoming rain effects. Either way his lack of public posts is not a surprise.

Welcome. Have some Slurm.
*MMmmmmm* Slurm.
A bit of advice that can be used anywhere with nearly the same amount of effectiveness: When in danger, or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout. -
Quote:Exactly. i don't especially have issues with profanity if it makes sense for the character, but the OP gave me the impression in the original post that he considered it necessary for a villain to lay on the obscenities if they were going to talk like a villain. i still stand by my belief that not every single villain is an ADHD-addled psychopath who talks like their greatest ambition is probably either to successfully hold up a convenience store with a boxcutter or win the international profanity competition. Or maybe just to regale everyone with the penultimate version of The Aristocrats.I agree but it's likely been reinforced through years of TV and old movies. Generally the degree to which somebody cusses is related to wealth and education. White collar Vs blue collar, officers Vs enlisted, suburban Vs inner city, college grad Vs high school drop out. If one of less prone to cussing individual does swear it's either done for comical effect, a sign of something serious or that they are actually a "bad apple".
This goes back to the debate of what is a villain? It doesn't mean you kick puppies, slap women around and go on murderous rampages. You can toss foul language into that false mold as well.
While MacOberon's later post made it clearer that asserting all villains are foul-mouthed perverts wasn't entirely his intent, i would point out that many modern villains only use strong profanity as emphasis. Precision f strikes have far more impact than simply flinging the verbal sewer gates wide. There is a continuum between high-spoken pretentious snob and slavering monster with a vocabulary of 20 words. (15 of them being obscenities.)
Euphemisms and invented vulgarities are the best way of getting your point that a character is a crude brute across publicly without violating the game's rating. -
Quote:i could care less as well. i could also care a lot more.i could care less about the 3-D thing. But this is an opportunity to eventually see 4 - 6 on the big screen again. It's something i dont mind shelling out the cash for. the prequels OTOH, meh, skippable.
What i'd like to see is the Star Wars movies remade with a good writer redoing the scripts to improve the dialogue, pacing and structure; preferably with even more extensive rewrites for I to III. (So that if you watch the episodes in order you aren't left going "Huh? Why is this supposed to be a dramatic reveal?" several times.) Obviously this will have to wait until after George dies, so it may be a while.

Quote:Uh, what? Inherent powers do not take away any choices. It's not like you could have gotten The I Win Button but the Devs removed it to make room for Sprint. Inherent powers do not limit choices. While you my be "forced" to "take" inherent powers you are not forced to slot or use them, and they do not affect your ability to take other powers. They DO force us to take Sprint and Brawl; I'd much rather have something more useful in those two slots, especially Brawl which is perhaps the most useless thing ever. Just sayin'.
*shakes head*
Wow, just wow.
We need a facepalm emote in game even more every issue. That post was one of the more epically dumb posts. Almost as impressive as when someone posted how useless Darkest Night was because all it did was aggro enemies.
